Big Machine & Outnumber Hunger Reach for Rewards..You CAN Help

I may be behind in my things to do; but the work to support and erase hunger never stops.  Since the inception in 2012 of the Outnumber Hunger program 6,825,375 meals have been secured, not too far from the goal of up to ten million that has been set. Can they meet and exceed such a large undertaking?  I believe they can.

In April of this year the first ever Outnumber Hunger LIve concert event took place in Las Vegas on Friday night, during the 2013 Academy of Country Music weekend.  The event brought awareness for the Outnumber Hunger Program in their quest to secure meals for its network of local food banks. This marks the second year that Big Machine Record Label is working alongside Feeding America, and General Mills to reach their goals.  There is also no shortage of support from the label's roster of artists which include The Band Perry, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Florida Georgia Line, Cassadee Pope and Greg Bates who put on a wonderful night of music to kick off the 2013 campaign.  There will also be other support from artists such as Rascal Flatts, Reba, the Eli Young Band, Thomas Rhett, Raelynn, The Mavericks and Ella Mae Bowen throughout the campaign.

But after all the glitz and glamour the work still continues.  As part of the 42nd Annual CMA Fest taking place in Nashville June 6-9 country artist Thomas Rhett has invited fans to volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank for the 2nd consecutive year.  Volunteers will be participating in helping sort and pack food alongside Thomas to help hungry Middle Tennesseans . This event filled up very quickly and it will give those involved a chance to learn more about hunger issues throughout Middle and West Tennessee followed by sorting food for Second Harvest's Emergency Food Box Program.

There is a misconception that hunger only relates to the very poor. This has led people to think it could not possibly be someone they know like a neighbor or a family in their church or childrens school.  Yet it is true; it could be anyone you least expect. Please take the time to read these startling facts and dig deep into the ways you can help this program.  It is so easy and totally affordable. You purchase certain products with the Outnumber Hunger banner on the front; find the code in the back of the packaging; go to the website; enter your code; follow the instructions and you are done.  You will feel so good knowing you helped.  http://www.outnumberhunger.com/hunger-in-america

There are many programs to help fight hunger which are very easy to work into your life. You don't have to be a big star to help; the bottom line is: JUST HELP DO WHAT YOU CAN...The rewards outweigh the awards.

Chart Roundup – Week of April 6th, 2013

Kaceymusgraves_2013cdcvr_h

Blake Shelton continues his successful run at the top of the charts this week with ‘Sure Be Cool If You Did’, remaining at #1 on both Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay. He has been knocked down to #2 on Country Digital Songs by Darius Rucker’s ‘Wagon Wheel’ however, which no doubt was helped by the release of the music video this past week. It is also sitting at #2 on Hot Country Songs, just behind Mr Shelton, but trails behind at #13 on Country Airplay, although this is the song’s radio peak thus far and it’s still climbing. Also near the top this week is Lady Antebellum and ‘Downtown’, at #4 on Country Airplay, #3 on Hot Country Songs and #4 on Country Digital Songs, as well as Hunter Hayes with ‘Somebody’s Heartbreak’, at #2 on Country Airplay, #7 on Hot Country Songs, but down to #21 on Country Digital Songs.

Miranda Lambert is around this spot too with ‘Mama’s Broken Heart’, #4 on Hot Country Songs, #3 on Country Digital Songs, and #8 on Country Airplay. Her album, ‘Four The Record’ is at #13. Lee Brice’s ‘I Drive Your Truck’ remains around the top 10 across the charts, with #3 on Country Airplay, #6 on Hot Country Songs and #11 on Country Digital Songs, with the album ‘Hard 2 Love’ at #14. It’s been a good week for George Strait, as ‘Give It All We Got Tonight’ is now at #14 on Hot Country Songs, #11 on Country Airplay and #9 on Country Digital Songs, and Florida Georgia Line own the Country Digital Songs chart, with ‘Cruise’ at #7 and their latest single ‘Get Your Shine On’ at #5. The latter also jumps up to #5 on Hot Country Songs and #10 on Country Airplay. ‘Here’s To The Good Times’ is at #3 on Top Country Albums.

Good news for all those Kacey Musgraves fans out there, as her critically lauded new album ‘Same Trailer Different Park’ debuts at #1 on the chart, while the lead single ‘Merry Go Round’ enjoys an 8-place leap to #10 on Country Digital Songs. She knocks Luke Bryan’s ‘Spring Break… Here To Party’ off the top spot, while the promo single from it, ‘Buzzkill’ drops 9 places to #25 on Country Digital Songs. Another new release this week, Justin Moore’s ‘Point At You’ comes in at #18 on Country Digital Songs.

Others in respectable positions on the charts this week include Carrie Underwood, Chris Young, Thompson Square, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Little Big Town, Jason Aldean, Eric Church and The Band Perry.

Check out my chart roundup next week to see where Blake Shelton’s ‘Based On A True Story’ charts, and whether it can knock golden girl Kacey Musgraves off the top spot.

Justin Moore Interview: Tour, Album & Nascar

Justin moore

Justin Moore has been taking the country music world by storm, and never slows down. His Outlaws Like Me Tour kicks off March 14th in Pikeville, KY and he is already working on his upcoming album. Oh, and did  I mention Nascar? Justin Moore is set to perform at the Daytona 500 this month as well. We caught up with Justin for the 411 on his upcoming projects.

I'll actually be in Pikeville, KY on the 14th to check out the show and you couldn't of picked a better place to kick this thing off, KY is going to be a great crowd right?

We started talking about kicking off the tour and where we wanted to play and I thought Kentucky has been so good to us let's just do it there. Two of my band members are actually from there so it'll be exciting for them as well as us.

You got Dustin Lynch & Jon Pardi, how's that going? Are you all good buddies?

Dustin and I are managed by the same guy so we've gotten to know each other pretty well and we're happy to have him out he'll do great. Jon I don't know personally, his first single it was out this past year and I loved it. We're lucky to get him on it and I'm looking forward to getting to know him so it's going to be al ot of fun. I'm looking forward to it but it's a little scary at the same time because if things go wrong its your fault. We're very fortunate to get to this point in our career, most people don't get to this point and we're just very very lucky.

Will you be doing any new songs from the upcoming album?

We will, we were just talking the other day about what songs we were going to do. I'm not done with the album we probably have about half of it done. We have a new single coming out here in a couple of weeks and we've started playing that song obviously and we'll put another song or two in there as well.

A lot of fans have been asking about your tattoo in the video for "Til My Last Day" what's the story behind that?

The tattoo that was shown in that video, it's my oldest daughters birth date 2.11.10 and it's in roman numerals. She came along at a time when we all needed a smile on our face we had unfortunately a couple deaths in our family and my wife and I wasn't planning on having kids yet..my career was just taking off and everybody always says things happen for a reason and I believe that. She's obviously a blessing in our lives so I got that for her and now I gotta go get another one for Kennedy our youngest and I dont know what Im gonna do about that

What's it like being in a house full of just girls?

(laughs) There's a heck of a lot of estrogen floatin' around, I'm swimmin' in it. No, it's great I'm lucky to have two little girls and a wife who supports me at what I do. I got a boy dog thankfully but its pretty wild around my house right now.

I hear you will be performing at the Daytona 500 pretty soon?

Yeah, we're excited. I'm a huge Nascar fan so it'll be fun. To be here for the reason we're here, we've teamed up with Crown Royal to kick off their annual "Your Heroes Name Here" program. It was something that I was fortunate enough to get to do last year and it's for fans who are 21 and older they can go to www.crownroyalheroes.com to nominate somebody who has made a huge difference in their life and folks get to go vote, the winner has the brickyard 400 named after them. Last year it was named after a gentleman named Curtis Schaffer, a firefighter in Alabama who done some incredible things and I got to be a part of it. It's really rewarding for us to get to do this and put a smile on some folks faces. We're actually kickin that off in the fan zone in Daytona on sunday so it's exciting.

So I wanted to throw a quick random question at you here, If you could only pick one for the rest of your life either hunting or fishing which would you pick?

Boy, I love em both. I'd probably say huntin', I think I'm better at huntin'. I'd stand more of a chance of eatin' if I picked huntin' over fishin'.

You can check out www.bigmachinelabelgroup.com for upcoming tour dates.

Justin Moore addresses illegal hunting incident

Justin Moore and Josh Thompson were mentioned in an indictment of three tribal leaders who have been charged with hosting illegal big-game hunts in Montana. We asked Justin if he would be doing any time in the hoosegow.

JM=Justin Moore
BW=Broadway

BW: I read a story about this tribe in Montana, and they’re in trouble for setting up some illegal hunts and I guess your name came up. Have you heard anything about that?

JM: I do have knowledge of it, and I can’t say a whole lot about it. Just because, you know, the way things are. But, no, I’m not in any trouble. I was involved in some capacity unbeknownst to me. I’m too petite to go to prison. I don’t think I’d fair well.

BW: I’m picturing you in your princess dress right now…

Justin Moore pays touching tribute to victims of Friday's Connecticut school shooting

1959_1355743607
Justin Moore performed on Friday in Jacksonville, Florida and decided he needed to pay tribute to the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

During his show, he asked the audience to turn their phones on and hold them up while he sang his hit song If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away.

The result was definitely touching.

Justin Moore debuts new video for 'Til My Last Day'

Justin Moore Til My Dying Day

Yes, I had titled the song 'Til My Dying Day originally. Ooops.

Justin Moore took to Facebook this morning to let fans know that the new video for 'Til My Last Day debuted today. You can watch the video after the jump (I think it's an autoplay video) or if that doesn't work, you can watch it on Big Machine's website here.

To answer that fan question: Are Justin Moore and Kip Moore related?

Justin and kip moore
"To answer that fan question" is the part of NashvilleGab where I take the sometimes funny things readers have ended up on the website searching for and actually answer them in a somewhat coherent way.

One of the more recent fan searches that has people ending up on NashvilleGab is "are Kip Moore and Justin Moore related?"

Well this one's pretty easy -- nope, they aren't related, unless they're distant cousins or something like that that hasn't been made public.

They just happen to share the same last name.

Kip and Justin will both be heading out this fall with Eric Church for the Blood, Sweat & Beers tour, so I'm pretty sure this will become an even more popular search once the fall leg of the tour hits the road.

So who wants to join me on the Blake Shelton & Friends Cruise?

Blake-shelton-bannershort
Uhmm.....ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! You guys!  Guess who gets to go cruising the high seas with Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann, Justin Moore, Easton Corbin, Neal McCoy, and Randy Houser in October!

I'll give you a minute to think about it......

Me! Me!  Me!  Me!!!

I've never been on a cruise and never in a million years thought I would ever get my land-locked husband to agree to grow a set of sea legs and go on one with me, but my ever persuasive ways (AKA whining) got him to do just that and on October 14-21, NashvilleGab (which consists of basically me, myself, and I) will be hitting the open ocean aboard the Norwegian Pearl for a week of surf, sea, and country music...and maybe just a wee bit of drunken fun.

Now in case you haven't heard already, Blake Shelton has invited some of his buddies (see the list above) to leave port in Miami and take a cruise to the Caribbean with stops in places such as San Juan, Saint Thomas, and Nassau.  Each night a different entertainer will perform an intimate set with Blake performing on two nights.  There will be songwriter workshops, Q&A's with the stars, surprise performances around the ship throughout the trip, and of course it's a cruise so there will be lots of sun and fun.

Like I said, I've never been on a cruise which means I'm a total newbie, so if you're letting your lack of cruise experience hold you back from your dream vacation, join me and we can be total cruise idiots together and maybe even embarrass ourselves in the way only newbies can.  And if you're afraid you're not bikini ready, just remember I'm shaped like a potato (I am from Idaho afterall), so who cares!  On the ship, I want to hang with my people, so I want as many NashvilleGabbers as possible to join me.  Oh sure, I'll have my husband with me, but seriously, I see him all the time, I want to meet my peeps!  That means that over the weeks and months to come, I will be blogging about the cruise to keep everyone informed of anything new going on, but mostly I will be trying to convince my minions to join me.

So enough of that for now.  Be sure to visit BlakeSheltonCruise.com for more info and to order your tickets.  There's a great Q&A section there if you have questions, but you can also email me questions at Shannon@nashvillegab.com and I will see if I can find an answer for you.
