Willie Nelson plans on releasing stoner album in January

Totally stealing this from CelebStoner.com:

Willie Nelson tips CelebStoner, "I have a new cd coming out in January called 'Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die.'" Nelson has been playing the title track lately on tour. Check out the rollicking version (above) he performed at Farm Aid in August.

Willie and Annie Nelson support the 99 percenters

Occupy Wall Street is nearing the one month mark and the movement is taking hold and crossing the globe.

It's also gotten the attention of many a celeb who have taken time to either visit protesters or offer their support in other various ways.

Willie Nelson and wife Annie have shown their support in the form of a recorded poem.

We stand with humanity against the insanity

We're the ones with the 99

We're the seeds and we're the core

We're the one's we've been waiting for, we're the ones with the 99

We're the windows and we are the doors

And we are the ceiling and we are the floors

We're the one's we've been waiting for, we're the ones with the 99

Stand up against tyranny, you now have the floor

You're the ones we've been waiting, we're the ones with the 99

The whole tax setup is a little unfair, but some of us don't mind paying our share

We're the one's that we've been waiting for, we're the ones with the 99

We're the one's we've been waiting for

You're the ones we've been waiting for, we're the ones with the 99

We stand with humanity against the insanity

And we're the ones we've been waiting for, we're the ones with the 99

Our hearts in Z Park against the oligarch

We're the ones we've been waiting for, we're the ones with the 99

And even though all our bodies can't be there, we'll be there in spirit because we care

We're the ones we've been waiting for, we're the ones with the 99

We stand with humanity against this insanity for all people to be free

Us and them, you and me, we're the ones with the 99

Dixie Chicks reunite to help Texas fire victims

Dixie chicks

Texas pretty much burnt to a crisp this summer in scorching heat, drought, and massive wildfires, so now a bunch of artists are coming together to help raise some much needed money for the victims of the fires.

Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel, Lyle Lovett, and the Dixie Chicks have all signed on to perform at the October 17th Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

The host for the evening is Kyle Chandler, star of NBC's Friday Night Lights.

If you'd like to go to the concert, tickets go on sale tomorrow, September 23, and can be purchased for $25-$250 with all proceeds going to the Austin Community Foundation.

Ironic much? Woman asked to remove her marijuana t-shirt at a Willie Nelson concert

It's OrganicPhoto via Journal Star

Most concerts don't have a set dress code or uniform if you will, but if they did, Willie Nelson's concert uniform would most definitely include wigs with bandanas and braids and t-shirts touting the miracles of marijuana.

Funny enough, despite Willie's very well known extra curricular habit, the Nebraska State Fair doesn't find marijuana T-shirts amusing as one lady found out.

Two weeks ago, Nebraska Cannabis Coalition activist Sally Stricker decided to head over to Willie's concert and wore a T-shirt that said "Don't Panic, It's Organic" that featured marijuana leaves.  When state troopers saw her seemingly appropriate Willie-wear, they told her she would have to either go change the offending Tee or turn the shirt inside out, despite the fact that the fair grounds doesn't have a policy regarding t-shirt logos.

Stricker chose to cover up her shirt with a lottery shirt she had just won.

After the concert, Stricker complained to fair officials and asked for an apology.

Unfortunately, it looks like she will be waiting awhile for that apology as fair officials said, "In this particular instance, the Nebraska State Patrol asking the wearer of the marijuana T-shirt to turn it inside out is in keeping with our ideals."

But Stricker takes exception to that rule.

But Stricker also wanted to point out hypocrisy: The fair booked a performer famous for his marijuana use, a performer who was busted for pot just last year. And, at the concert, a vendor was selling Willie Nelson shirts with pot leaves, she said.

Looks like it's an old fashioned stalemate.

Funny enough, Willie closed out his show that evening with Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die, because that's how Willie rolls.

Willie Nelson's son's tour bus searched for marijuana

Willie nelson and Lukas Nelson

Well as the saying goes - like father, like son.

Willie Nelson's son Lukas Nelson rolled into Ohio at the end of August and cops got a tip that there was some weed on his tour bus.

The cops were probably like, "Dude, really?  This is tip?  Of course there's weed on the bus, this is Willie Nelson's son we're talking about."

But surprise, surprise - after police brought in a drug sniffing dog to go over the 22-year-old's bus, they did find Lukas' band member's stash but Lukas was totally clean.

Centerville Police Department Officer Matt Dunn tells TMZ that the band member was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and Lukas along with the rest of his band were sent on their merry way.

Congrats to Lukas for not following in his dad's footsteps in the herbal department...or at least being better at not getting caught.

Willie Nelson could quite possibly have the #1 movie at the box office this weekend

Our Idiot Brother

Hey, guess who has a new movie coming out this weekend....it's Willie Nelson!

No, not that Willie Nelson.

This Willie Nelson.

Willie Nelson the dog

Our Idiot Brother opens in theaters today and it looks HILARIOUS.  It's about idiot stoner brother Ned (Paul Rudd) who gets arrested for selling pot to a uniformed cop and his life falls apart and he has to move back home - or something like that.  Well apparently part of the plot includes Ned's girlfriend leaving him for another hippie and taking his dog Willie Nelson with her.

So just how did the golden retriever come by the name?  Director Jesse Peretz spoke with Celeb Stoner  about the film and how the dog got his name.

"The first level of that decision was, wouldn't it just be funny if Ned named his dog after a musician or some figure he admires, and calls the dog by a first and last. Then we played around with various figures (Jimmy Hendrix, Neil Young, etc.) but ultimately landed on Willie Nelson as the ideal idealist for an idealist like Ned to be particularly obsessed with. And the more the script and film took shape, the more we realized that all the associations that people have with Willie Nelson as being just a positive free spirit, devoid of judgement, a lover of people and a guy loved by literally everyone  - the more we realized he was a perfect fit for Ned and the film as a whole."

So what did Willie think about the honor of having a movie dog named for him?  Peretz says they contacted the country (and stoner) legend and got his stamp of approval. Willie even sings three songs on the movie's soundtrack.

Check out My Idiot Brother's Facebook for more info on the movie as well as to check out some Willie Nelson the Pooch fun and games.

Willie Nelson's pot plea deal is a no go

Willie-nelson-teapot-partyPhoto via Highentology

Remember back on June 8th I had the whole story about Willie Nelson's Texas pot troubles finally officially being over?

Yeah, psyche!

It appears that Willie's not in fact out of the woods just yet.

Why?  Because he's a celebrity apparently.

According to Reuters, Judge Becky Dean-Walker said today that she wouldn't sign off on Willie's plea deal because she didn't want to be seen as being too lenient on a celebrity.

"I'm not going to be guilty of signing something because someone is a celebrity," Dean-Walker told Reuters.

Back in June, Willie had agreed to plead no contest to a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and would pay a fine of $500 and court costs of around $280 to make the case go away.

Well apparently Willie was getting off a little too easily for the "severity" of his crime and Judge Dean-Walker wasn't having it on on her watch.

Those damn hippy California judges may be easy on celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, but apparently Texas judges take their jobs more seriously!

After signing her name, Judge Dean-Walker read the charges more closely, decided Willie's pot possession was a more serious offense than she originally thought, scratched out her name, and sent the case back to County Attorney C.R. Bramblett.  Bramblett is the C.A. who had originally charged Willie with a felony and then later agreed to the plea deal.

Well I know someone who's not going to be on Willie Nelson's Christmas Card list.

As of this afternoon, there's no word on what the County Attorney's next move will be.

Gotta love when the justice system spends months and months and bunches of tax payer dollars on the really important cases, eh?

Willie Nelson's never-ending drug case is finally officially over....for real this time

Willie nelson pot Okay, so remember Willie Nelson got arrested back in November of last year in Texas for having 6 ozs of mary-ju-wana on his bus?  Everyone had a good laugh at that crazy old pothead Willie until word got out that dear old Willie was actually facing two years in prison for a felony because of his recreational habit.

Then in December of 2010 his legal battles were supposed to be officially over when the charges were dropped from serious to just misdemeanor possession.

The world released it's collectively held breath because Willie was in the clear.

Then in March of this year, we all found out that Willie's troubles weren't quite over yet when news popped up that the Texas prosecutor had suggested that Willie could resolve his possession charge if he just sang in court.

It was like the Energizer Bunny of the just-wont-go-away legal troubles.

Well release your surely-held-breath once again, friends, because it seems Willie Nelson may finally be free of his pot possession charge once and for all....and the charges got dropped from minor to nonexistent.

From TMZ:

Sources close to Willie tell us ... Nelson agreed to plead no contest to misdemeanor possession ofdrug paraphernalia ... stemming from an incident last year, when cops say they found weed on the singer's tour bus at a border checkpoint.

Nelson was originally charged with marijuana possession -- but the singer worked out a deal with prosecutors in which they agreed to reduce the charge in exchange for a no contest plea.

As part of the deal, Willie has also agreed to pay a $500 fine -- and if he can stay out of trouble for 30 days, the judge will dismiss the case entirely.

Nelson's lawyer, Joe Turner, tells TMZ, "Willie is glad to have it all behind him. Everyone was very fair."

Let's just hope Willie can hide his stash really well from now on....or at least for the next 30 days.
