Charges dropped against Tracy Lawrence

Tracy-Lawrence

Well there goes the whole courtroom showdown.

Damn.

Tracy Lawrence has spent the last month a marked man with misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct hanging over his head stemming from his August 6th scuffle with concert promoter Elmer Cole, Jr.

Well Tracy can now breathe a little more easily because the charges have been dropped as of Monday.

After investigating, it was determined that Elmer had thrown the first punch and that Tracy's facial injuries supported that it was a surprise attack rather than mutual combat. Being that Tracy wasn't the aggressor, the district attorney felt there wasn't enough evidence to convict him of anything.

"We're happy about the dismissal," said Dean Henry, Lawrence's attorney. "I know that Mr. Lawrence is going to be happy."

Elmer Cole still faces his disorderly conduct charge and is set to appear in Tiffin Municipal Court on Thursday for a trial.

"We're still set for a trial," James Gucker, Cole's attorney said. "Elmer was attacked and that's our position. That's what several other witnesses say."

Despite Tracy's charges being dropped this may not be the end of things since Elmer says that Tracy falsely claimed he had a gun, causing Elmer to be arrested.  No gun was ever found.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if either man decides to file personal lawsuits, something Tracy has said before he is considering.

Tracy Lawrence talks about his fist fight

Tracy Lawrence was up early this morning to perform a few radio interviews.

One of the interviews he performed was with Kansas' B104.7 and he finally got around to telling his side of what happened when he got into a fist fight with concert promoter Elmer Cole Jr.

Have to say I can probably see where Tracy was more than a little peeved.

Tracy says near the end of the interview, "Some people don't need to be promoting shows....We had gotten rained out, we had a lot of problems with the stage, the lightning was really bad, I had to cut my set short.  Randy Houser never even got to perform and the promoter was basically trying to hold us hostage.  He was trying to force Randy to play the next day and Randy had another show.

He pretty much told us we were on our own, he was not going to get tractors in to pull us out and that if we brought tractors in he was going to sue us for tearing up the road.  So it escalated pretty quick.

I'm getting prepared to follow-up with lawsuits of my own."

Tracy and Elmer are due in Tiffin Municipal Court September 1 for a trial.

Tracy Lawrence going to trial for mud-fueled fist fight

Tracy LawrencePhoto via Tracy's Facebook

Why, Tracy, why?

So you remember the story about Tracy Lawrence and the concert promoter getting into the scuffle at the Smokin' Country Concert in Ohio not too far back, right?

Gads, I hope you do considering it was only like a week and a half ago.

Well Tracy and Elmer Cole Jr., Tracy's fisticuffs partner, apparently have opted to go to trial.

Trial of all things.  I mean why in the world would Tracy want to go to trial?  The punishment for a minor misdemeanor in Ohio is a $150 fine and probably a lecture in court.

Just pay the fine and move on.

I mean, come on, the facts of the story from what I understand is that Tracy picked the fight with Elmer (who just happened to be celebrating his 52nd birthday that day) over his tour bus being stuck in the mud and not being pulled out in a timely manner and then ended up getting his ass kicked - or at least Tracy was the only one of the two who had visible wounds on his face.

It all seems like a big ol' steaming heap of assholiness to me so it seems odd to want to drag it out any further.  Of course, I guess maybe someone's planning on filing a lawsuit in the future and the outcome of the trial would legally show who was in the right and who was in the wrong.

Or maybe I'm just not a lawyer and have no clue what I'm talking about and they didn't actually have any choice in the matter.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

The rambunctious pair are set to appear in the Tiffin Municipal Court September 1.

Tracy Lawrence opens a can of whoop-ass after being left stuck in the mud

Tracy Lawrence

Word to the wise, if it starts to rain and you have Tracy Lawrence performing at your event, have a nice dry place for him to park his bus.  Maybe a happy little helipad or an RV parking spot, just something unmuddy or else boy might just decide you look ripe for an ass kickin'.

The Advertiser-Tribute (via WYCD) is reporting that Tracy Lawrence performed in Tiffin, Ohio on Saturday and ended up getting in a scuffle with the concert promoter, Elmer Cole Jr., over his bus being stuck in the mud.

Seems when things got muddy at the Smokin' Country Concert event, buses of other stars who were performing, including Gary Allan's, were pulled out of the muck.  Unfortunately, workers didn't get to his bus quick enough and so Tracy decided to have a word with the promoter.  There was a heated discussion and fists flew.

Both boxer wannabes were charged with disorderly conduct, a minor misdemeanor, and will have to appear in Tiffin Municipal Court.  Both men still have the option of pressing further charges.

The sad part of this story is that Saturday was Elmer Cole's 52nd birthday.

Happy birthday to you, buddy.

Update: It apparently wasn't Gary Allan's bus that was there since he was somewhere else entirely so your guess is as good as mine as to whose bus got towed before Tracy's.

Tracy Lawrence is happy he's not as famous as he once was

TWIN LAKES, WI - JULY 15: Singer/songwriter Tracy Lawrence is shown backstage at the 17th Annual Country Thunder USA music festival on July 15, 2009 in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. (Photo by Rick Diamond/Getty Images)

Tracy Lawrence used to be a pretty famous guy but now things are a lot quieter....and he's perfectly happy with that.

Tracy says that fame is great, but so is the quiet life.  He tells the Edmonton Journal, “I get to go out with my wife and kids to watch a movie, and nobody ever walks up to us. If they do, it’s just to respectfully say how much they like what I’ve done, and then they leave us alone. They don’t make a big deal of it, and I have to say that’s really cool.”

But don't feel too bad for Tracy and his lack of celebrity because he says he's doing just fine.

“It’s not just about radio and whether you’re always in the paper, you know. There are other avenues out there, including the Internet. I still have a loyal fan base, for which I’m grateful, and I’m now pitching to movies and television. I’m still doing very well.”

Well good for Tracy Lawrence for having the best of both worlds.  I have to say that being anonymous and still making a buttload of money sounds like the way to go to me.
