Miranda Lambert featured on Willie Nelson's next album

Willie Willie

Willie Nelson's new album "Let's Face the Music and Dance" (iTunes/Amazon) just hit stores today, but the country legend reveals in a new interview with the website Exclaim that he's already almost finished with his next album.

Nelson further reveals that he and producer Buddy Cannon are already in the final stages of his next album, a collection of duets with many high-profile female vocalists.

"We cut most of the tracks in Nashville with people like Barbra Streisand, Loretta Lynn, Rosanne Cash, Alison Krauss and Norah Jones," Nelson says. "Miranda Lambert and I just did one of the last songs that Waylon [Jennings] wrote. I'm looking forward to singing with all the girls in Nashville if I get a chance."

Willie turns 80 on April 30, makes you wonder if the man ever plans to slow down.

Yeah, probably not.

So what song do you think Miranda and Willie recorded together? Whatever it is I bet it'll be epic.

As promised, here's full video of Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert covering Gotye in concert

Last night I had a short video of Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley teaming up to sing Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know in concert. This morning I found a more complete version so I thought I'd post it.

The pair begin by singing Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty's After The Fire Is Gone and finish up with Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know.

Despite the sucky sound quality, this is awesome!

Keith Urban MIGHT collaborate with Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj Keith Urban
Keith did the rounds yesterday to promote tickets going on sale Friday for his "Light the Fuse" tour. Although he did seem a bit stiff, we still managed to pull a few interesting tidbits from him.

Broadway: Nicki Minaj, not too many people are digging her. You seem to be getting along with her just fine. You're working on a new album, will she maybe appear on the new album?

Keith: Well, I haven't found anything that would work so far. But, who knows.

He didn't say it would never happen, although I do think a more likely scenario would play out with Keith playing playing guitar on Nicki's next project. The risk for image damage would be a lot less that way.

We also asked about a possible collaboration with wife, Nicole Kidman. Hear what he said inside the interview (link is below). From the sound of it, radio may be shipped a brand new song from Keith 'in a couple weeks.' He also comments on Taylor Swift's Entertainer of the Year winning streak, and whether or not he thinks it will continue.

Willie Nelson to team up with Megadeth

BGfgFW_CQAAqNdb

It's a known fact that Willie Nelson has collaborated with pretty much anyone ever, but featuring on the new Megadeth track The Blackest Crow may still be something that will come as a surprise.

Dave Mustaine of the group tweeted last night about meeting Willie in a restaurant in Austin, TX, and discussing Willie's guest contribution to a song which will include a slide guitar, something that Dave has apparently been wanting to incorporate into Megadeth's music.

It has not been made official yet, but knowing Willie, anything is possible, and indeed likely.

What do you think of this?

Carrie Underwood duet on new Aerosmith album confirmed

Steven and carrie

Back in early June it was reported that Carrie Underwood was rumored to have a duet on the new Aerosmith album Music From Another Dimension which comes out November 6th.

Now we have confirmation that the duet exists and is in fact part of Aerosmith's album.

Mix 104.1 Music Director Mike Mullaney recently got to go backstage with Steven Tyler at one of Aerosmith's concerts this week and Tyler pulled out his iPod and let Mike take a listen to the record. Mike says about the Carrie Underwood duet:

"Then the surprise track was a duet -- and he recorded the duet with Carrie Underwood. I think people should kind of think back to the one that Bon Jovi did with Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland, so that was kind of the vibe, you know what I mean? Obviously he's fresh off 'Idol' and he knows the power of Carrie Underwood. At first the rest of the band didn't want to put it on there but their label convinced them, 'Guys, this will get you airplay in red states.' So that was that."

He didn't mention what the name of the duet is, but iTunes has the album up for pre-order and lists the tracks below, so fans can go ahead and take a guess.

  1. "What Could Have Been Love"
  2. "Beautiful"
  3. "Street Jesus"
  4. "Legendary Child"
  5. "Oh Yeah"
  6. "We All Fall Down"
  7. "Another Last Goodbye"
  8. "Out Go the Lights"
  9. "Love Three Times a Day"
  10. "Closer"
  11. "Shakey Ground"
  12. "Love a Lot"
  13. "Freedom Fighter"
  14. "Up on the Mountain"

UPDATE:  According to MJ's Blog, the song that Carrie sings on the Aerosmith album is called Beautiful.

There also is a decidedly country song, “Beautiful,” that Hamilton (the band’s bass player) helped write and which features country superstar Carrie Underwood.

“I mean, we didn’t really sit down and say, ‘Let’s write something that sounds country,’ but it did come out, you know?” he says. “And it’s just a reflection of the fact that everybody in the band loves country music, so it’s going to be an influence at some point.”

Dolly Parton isn't too sure you're ready for the awesomeness of a Dolly Parton Lady Gaga duet

Gagadolly
Dolly Parton has worked with a lot of people over the years but the two people she hasn't gotten the chance to work with but is asked about a lot is Lady Gaga and Madonna.  Dolly tells BBC Breakfast that that's probably a good thing since the world may not be ready for the outrageousness of a Dolly Parton Lady Gaga collaboration.

"I'm open for anything. Nobody has asked me to do it, I haven't pursued them. You never say never, it's not something I'm going after. I think we're all pretty different, Madonna and Lady Gaga," she mused. "We're all our own individual people, all of us outrageous, but whether than will come together - it might just be overkill!"

Dolly goes on to say:

"I'm not one to criticise how other people do their work. I've always showed mine off, just not completely. I just got to let mine speak for themselves," she laughed to BBC Breakfast. "I think everybody has their own way of doing it. I guess shock value is good for some people and people expect Madonna to do what Madonna does. Same with Lady Gaga. They're out there for that shock value and it's worked for them."

Lady Gaga may be outrageous and gaudy and full of shock value, but the woman has an amazing voice.  She recently joined Tony Bennett for a duet for his 'Duets' album so she can be halfway normal when need be. If you've never heard that song, check it out here. I hope Dolly and Lady Gaga do get the chance to team up sometime. I have a feeling it would be amazing.

Who is this Hot Chelle Rae and why are they invading the CMT Awards?

Lady A Hot Chelle RaePhoto via Celebuzz

Man, I hate names I have to look at 5 times before I finally spell it right.

Hot Chelle Rae isn't a country band, but they'll be at the CMT Music Awards tonight to add a little MTV flavor to the mix.

The band will join Lady Antebellum on stage to perform a mystery song. The group tweeted about the mash-up last night, saying:

Hmmm who will "Own the night" together tmrw at 7CT on @CMT?? Hint - #HCRmashup

Lady A also tweeted about the performance, saying:

Our friends @HotChelleRae have an inside scoop w. @Yahoo_Music about the @CMT Music Awards tomorrow!

After a quick Google session, I found out that Hot Chelle Rae began its career in Nashville where one member, Nash Overstreet's (brother of Glee man Chord Overstreet) father is a music producer and writer. Hot Chelle Rae also, according to the video below, wrote the Thug Story song that Taylor -- or more accurately T-Swizzle -- performed at the awards show back in 2009.

Listen below as Hot Chelle Rae talks about how their CMT Music Awards performance with Lady A came about.

Tony Bennett's duet partners speak

220px-Tony_Bennett_-_Duets_II

On September 20, Tony Bennett will release his Duets II album which features many hot duet partners including Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood.

Check out the video below of Tony and many (if not all) of his duetees talking about recording together.

Now I just made that whole duetees word up because I couldn't think of any other word for duet partners, but seriously, wouldn't that be a great name for a tour?  Tony Bennett and the Duetees Hit The Town.

Yeah, I'd pay to see it.

And here's a video of just Carrie talking about her experience recording with Bennett.

And speaking of Carrie Underwood and Tony Bennett, don't forget to set your DVRs for Friday, September 23rd, when the pair will appear on the season premier of Blue Bloods on CBS.

Shania Twain records new song in a bedroom?

Shania record bedroom

Well, well, check out this video of Shania recording a duet of Endless Love with Lionel Richie for his upcoming duets album.

In a bedroom.

Hmmm, do you suppose the acoustics are good in pearly white bedrooms?  Odd.

You know, for someone who lost not only her voice but her confidence too, Shania sure sounds great.
