Jennifer Nettles finally shows off her son

BKFIklaCcAAO-Pc
Awwww!!!!

Five months after giving birth to son Magnus Hamilton, Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles has finally shared a picture of her little man.

Jennifer tweeted the photo along with:

So much love and joy on my first Mother's Day! A very Happy Mother's Day to all the Mamas! #MothersDay twitter.com/JenniferNettle…

— Jennifer Nettles (@JenniferNettles) May 12, 2013

"I’m so excited!” Jennifer tells People in an upcoming interview. “He’s super, super sweet. We made a deal before he was born. I said, ‘Look, you can cook as long as you want, as long as you come out and latch like it’s your job and have a sweet demeanor.’ He kept his part of the bargain!”

People Magazine will feature more photos and a full article of Jennifer sharing how she's coping being a new mom in an upcoming article in their magazine out this Friday.

Worst Country Songs That Were Big Hits Poll – Response

Recently, The Boot ran a Facebook poll that asked readers what the worst country hits were. I had a look through some of the answers and some were expected, and some totally surprised me, so I thought I’d share this list with you and a few of my comments. Here’s the top 10 counting down.

10. Shania Twain – That Don’t Impress Me Much

I get this. One of the main things that underlies country fans’ criticisms of songs is the lack of ‘country’ they feel is present. Though I loved this song as a kid growing up, it was because of its poppiness, not because it was a great country song. Its bouncy chirpiness and connections to novelties probably didn’t do a lot for its popularity with die-hard country fans either.

9. Jason Aldean – Dirt Road Anthem

I can see why people were annoyed by this one. I personally found it all kinds of oddness, despite the fact it was a huge hit. Brantley Gilbert is a talented writer but I actually preferred his remixed version, although it was even further from ‘country’ than Jason’s. The slow rap is not a thing.

8. Sugarland – Stuck Like Glue

WHAT EVEN THE WHAT. I love this song. A lot. It is so catchy and the video is probably one of my all-time favorite country music videos. It’s hysterical and I just don’t understand how anyone can truly hate this song. Sure, they might be annoyed by its catchiness, but I like to call those people spoilsports and the ‘cool kids’ who pretend not to love ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepsen but rock out to it in the shower. However, this song is far, far better than that and there is no excuse whatsoever for not loving it.

What’s 2013 Set To Hold In Country Music? I Have A Go At Making Some REAL Predictions...

Kellie-pickler-cma-awards-2012-red-carpet-09

Well, we had my summary of 2012 in country music, and after querying it on Twitter, apparently people would like my take on what’s in store for the bright new year. I’m going to predict things at random. Mostly they’re educated guesses, but we all need a few totally off-the-wall predictions, right?

  • Hillary Scott’s baby will be a boy. I have no idea what is telling me this, but something is.
  • Another country star will get pregnant. I think Carrie and Miranda (who have often been asked about kids) are more set for 2014/15, but a country star somewhere is bound to get pregnant.
  • As for Taylor Swift relationship drama, I think after a couple of months the relationship with Harry will be over (although judging by her most recent tweet, “...’til you put me down.” It may already be), and she will have another two more relationships before the year is out, with a couple of other people she’s romantically linked with in the media but it doesn’t come to anything. Taylor has learned that relationships = publicity so I think her record label will be onto her to keep in the public eye in this way.
  • Kellie Pickler’s 2012 album ‘100 Proof’ wasn’t very well promoted by her label, who she then split from last year, but now she has signed with Black River Entertainment I think she will release a brand new single, totally out of left field and blow everyone away.
  • Kristian Bush will release an EP of acoustic sessions and a few songs he’s been working on, whilst Jennifer is off on maternity leave with her baby. It just makes sense and I really want it to happen.

Kristian bush
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus Lane.

Oh wait, that's just Kristian Bush!

Now this is fun. Kristian got into the holiday spirit, put on his Oprah Winfrey cap, and just released a list of his favorite things to give as Christmas gifts this year.

It's a wonderful list of all kinds of things that I had no clue existed.

Pretty much just like Oprah's list.

Here's his entire list minus the descriptions Kristian includes for each item on the Sugarland website (be sure to visit to read Kristian's thoughts on each item):

  • Drinking Situation
  • The Prisoner
  • Palomino Blackwing 602
  • CB I Hate Perfume
  • Unraveling Calendar
  • Cigar Box Guitars by Mike Snowden
  • Concert Bracelet
  • Angry Birds Star Wars Everything
  • Bezzerwizzer
  • For The Art Collector - James Hance
  • For The Gadget Person - Photojojo Phone Lens Series
  • AKG K77
  • Sure SRH440
  • Audio Technica ATH-M50S
  • The Original Silly Putty
  • Army Men
  • Water Powered Space Rocket
  • Top
  • U-Socket USB Wallplug
  • TARDIS Journal
  • Bluetooth Handset Gloves

And in case you're wondering which gift I think is the coolest, it would have to be the Bluetooth Handset Gloves seen below. Yes, you talk through your fingers and I do believe I HAVE to have a pair.

Thank you Kristian.

Oh, by the way, Oprah did release a favorite things list for 2012. You can find it here.

Has Jennifer Nettles had her baby?

Jennifer baby bump

Update: Jennifer gave birth to a son named Magnus Hamilton Miller on Thursday, December 6.

This question just popped into my head ... has Jennifer Nettles had that baby yet?

The picture above was Jennifer during her November 3 taping of "CMA Country Christmas" (airs December 20, 2012, 9-11 p.m. ET on ABC).

The girl was hugely pregnant and oh so cute. I know she was due sometime in November (random Facebook posting says 11/29 due date) but so far I've heard nada about her giving birth.

The last thing Jennifer wrote on her Twitter page was on November 16th.

I know it's not very proper to pester a lady about her pregnancy status, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who is more than a little curious.

On a side note, according to a Facebook page, Jennifer's sister Katie had a baby girl yesterday that she named Kabry Odessa. How awesome that Jennifer got to share the pregnancy experience with her sister.

CMA Songwriters Series

CMA week is full of events leading up to the big awards show night. Wednesday night, CMA hosted CMA Songwriters Series with Bob Dipero, Brett James, Bratley Gilbert and Kristian Bush of Sugarland. The guys each took turns singing a song. It was a great night of music. As much as I love the big stage and huge productions, watching the songwriters sing their hits and tell stories about how the song was made is much sweeter.

Brett James sang the following. The Truth (Jason Aldean, Out Last Night (Kenny Chesney), Cowboy Casanova (Carrie Underwood), Two Night Town (This song has yet to be recorded, and I can't wait to find out who picks it up, because it is going to be a hit!) and Mr. Know It All (Kelly Clarkson).

Bob Dipero sang: Southern Voice (Tim McGraw), Blue Clear Sky (George Strait), Lovin' You Is Fun (Easton Corbin), and Gone (Montogomery Gentry).

Kristian sang: Fire and Ice (New song. LOVED!), Baby Girl, What I'd Give, Dead Ringer (new song about someone dating the zombie version of their dead girlfriend...hey, it was Halloween) and another new one, You're Gonna Get Yours. I loved seeing Kristian in this setting singing the songs himself. I love Jennifer Nettles, but it was so much fun to watch Kristian shine on his own. He stayed after the show and greated each fan individually. He will be going on the European CMA Songwriters tour next year, while Jennifer is home taking care of her newborn baby!

Brantley Gilbert is a new favorite of mine. He has a tough guy act, but seeing him in an acoustic setting was awesome. He sang his number ones, Country Must Be Country Wide, You Don't Know Her Like I Do, as well as, Kick it in the Sticks, Dirt Road Anthem, and Them Boys.

Settlement rejected in Indiana State Fair stage collapse

Stage collapse(AP Photo/Darron Cummings)

Monday was the first anniversary of the devastating stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair and those injured and the families of those killed are still trying to agree to a settlement.

Two weeks ago, it was announced that a settlement had been reached between victims and the state and stage owner, but now that settlement has stalled after not enough victims came forward to accept the offer.

According to KansasCity.com, Mid-America Sound officials, owners of the stage, said that since only 51 of the 62 claimants in the lawsuit had come forward by the August 1 deadline, the company wouldn't be able to agree to the settlement.

The settlement would have protected Mid-America and the state of Indiana from further lawsuits.

Mid-America spokeswoman Myra Borshoff Cook released a statement saying "the minimum participation requirements" specified in the proposed settlement weren't met, although the company failed to say how many people were required in order to move forward with the proposed settlement.

Following the company's announcement this week, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller said that he would move forward with dispersing the $6 million that lawmakers had approved earlier this year for victims.

Hopefully a settlement can be reached soon so that victims and their families can finally put this tragedy behind them as much as possible.
