Blake Shelton thinks Simon Cowell has too much time on his hands

Blake Shelton
Simon Cowell has way too much time on his hands, or so says Blake Shelton.

Blake visited 'Access Hollywood' tonight to discuss 'The Voice' and the conversation turned to Simon Cowell and his long-running beef with 'The Voice'.

Blake seemed amused more than anything.

“Every time I turn around the guy is mouthing off,” the country superstar told Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle. “Don’t y’all wish you had time to sit around and bitch and moan like that guy does? Every time I turn around, he’s mouthing off about our show. It’s like, ‘Do your own show! Come on! Put something together there and do your thing. We’ll just do ours and we won’t mouth off about you.’ I wish I had that much time. The guy must just have more free time than he knows what to do with.”

And Blake has no problem whatsoever with the other reality competitions, whether it’s “X Factor,” “American Idol” or something else.

“There’s room for all these shows,” Blake said. “That’s what frustrates me when I hear the bickering. I’m like, ‘We’re all doing pretty good. High five!’ But I think the thing that the other shows probably took notice of was — the four of us on ‘The Voice’ — we’re not judges.”

If these two shows go at it any more, this may turn out to be a pretty interesting season.

Fans can watch more of Blake's interview over on Access Hollywood.

I wish they'd just pick a damn 'American Idol' judge already

American Idol
I tell you what, keeping up with the 'American Idol' judge rumors is absolutely exhausting.

Ever since Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez called it quits on the show back at the beginning of July, it's been nonstop rumors about who would be taking their place. Once the show signed Mariah Carey on as a judge, I was hoping that would slow things down, but if anything it's sped it up to where multiple times a day there's a rumor about this person signing on, this person turning down the show down, or this person would never do it in a million years.

Ugh. I wish they would just flippin' get to it already!

I honestly think the show would have had better luck just putting it out there that they were looking for a judge and letting the stars show an interest rather than actively hunting up a star.

Well this is my absolutely last "rumored to be" post because honestly I'm just plain sick and tired of hearing about it and feel like my brain may explode if I hear one more thing about 'American Idol' rumors.

The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that Keith Urban (who did confirm that he was asked to be on the show) and Nicki Minaj are the new American Idol judges, they are just waiting to finish up the paperwork. Nicki will reportedly be earning $8 million while Keith would be making $3 to $4 million.

Keith Urban joining the show would definitely be cool, just if it's true, I wish they would get around to finally announcing it.

UPDATE: There is a rumor that Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj have accepted offers from American Idol, but I'll wait to believe that until I hear it from the show itself.

Trisha Yearwood's cooking show gets renewed for second season

Trisha Yearwood has certainly done well in the foodie world.  After two highly successful cookbooks of yummy Southern grub, she's now taking the televised cooking world by storm.

Trisha's Food Network show Trisha's Southern Kitchen has just been renewed for a second season, with more than twice the number of episodes ordered than were ordered for its first season.

"Our viewers loved seeing a different side of Trisha,” Food Network GM and senior vpBob Tuschman told The Hollywood Reporter. "Her impressive cooking skills and family recipes, coupled with her natural Southern charm, really resonated with our audience."

Trisha's first season had six episodes and started in April. The second season of Trisha's Southern Kitchen will have 13 episodes and will begin filming this summer for a fall premiere.

"It was such a great experience, and the positive response from viewers was overwhelming and truly gratifying," Trisha is quoted as saying. "I've always believed that food brings people together. I can't wait to share more family memories and recipes with Food Network fans."

Fans of Trisha and her food can watch videos, see photos, and try out some of Trisha's recipes on Food Network.

Please, please, please let John Rich find a frat boy with a set of golden pipes!

Hosts of FameThree of the hosts of The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep -- photo via John Rich Twitter

I have a vision!  A vision of John Rich partying with frat boys and entertaining us all summer long!

We've known for a while now that John Rich had signed onto a brand new singing competition called The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep (formerly The Star Next Door) along with Gloria Estefan, but it wasn't until Monday that we found out the premise of the show or who the rest of the judges would be.

Now we know that Joe Jonas -- as in broke-up-with-Taylor-Swift-in-a-28-second-phone-call Joe Jonas -- and Nelly have now been officially announced as rounding out the celebrity judge portion of the show.  Nelly is probably best known to country fans as Tim's duet partner for the song Over and Over.

Now comes the fun part.  The show will leave the studio and hit the road and will have all four judges crossing the country in search of the next big thing.  When they find someone to their liking (or who has been preselected by TV bosses, I'm not quite clear on that part yet), they live with their undiscovered diamond in the rough for 72 hours to see what makes them tick and what has made them who they are.

Joe Jonas told Ryan Seacrest on Monday about the show:

“The series is a music talent show, I’m really excited about it…I’m going to be moving in with someone.  The judges will be going to different cities in the states.  There will be four people auditioning in each city and these artists are going to be either people that had a chance in the past, maybe they possibly got dropped from a record label. Also there will be people that are local stars or local celebrities.”

Again, I have this vision of John Rich finding a frat boy with golden pipes and living with him in his college dorm for 72 hours and partying like it's 2008!

I can't imagine ANOTHER singing competition making any kind of waves on the air, but this one could be fun.

The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep will premiere on The CW in August.

Shania must be getting ready to release her new album

Shania-twain-main

Ever noticed that when a star is gearing up to release a new album that they're suddenly everywhere?  Well I wonder if this is the beginning of Shania being everywhere.

It was announced Tuesday (yes it's Thursday and I'm just getting to this - baaaddd blogger) that Shania will be a guest judge on "American Idol" when they take over Chicago for auditions August 30th and 31st.  Hopefully this will lead to a Shania Twain theme week when the show airs for it's next season.

So I wonder if this is the big news Shania was planning to reveal Friday on her website.  Hmmm.

Anyone else love this guy?

Elizabeth sent me the link to this video a few days ago, but I ended up watching "America's Got Talent" on my DVR last night and broke down crying (although covertly so I wouldn't get made fun of by my kids and hubby) while watching Kevin Skinner singing Garth.  Please tell me I'm not a sap and am not the only one who found this touching.  This guy was just so awesome.

Reality TV gets the Mindy and Jessica treatment

Jessica_simpson Mindy_mccready

Cover your ears and eyes and go lalalalalalalala if you don't want to hear news of Jessica Simpson or Mindy McCready.

First off is Mindy.  Contact Music is reporting that little Miss McCready is heading to rehab - Celebrity Rehab that is.  The troubled singer will be joining the cast of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" this season where she'll tackle her addiction demons for entertainment and ratings.

Woohoo.  I guess nothing else has worked, maybe this will do the trick.

Jessica Simpson, on the other hand, is going a slightly different route.

Us Weekly is reporting that Jessica is using her experience with body drama to create a new reality series that she's currently shopping around.  She's been pitching the show to different television networks that will deal with "society's scrutiny of women's bodies."

The premise of the program, titled The Price of Beauty: "She and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why," says a source.

I've never watched Celebrity Rehab and probably wont now that Mindy's joining the cast.  Jessica's reality show, though, sounds interesting.  In any case, I suppose if you can't make it singing country, you've gotta pay the bills somehow.
