Kevin Sharp gets a helicopter ride after breaking leg

Fan Ouch.  Kevin Sharp - probably best known for his remake of the song Nobody Knows and for his cancer battle - recently had a mishap that landed him in the hospital.

On June 12th, Kevin was in his hotel room getting ready for a performance at the Riverton, Wyoming's Relay For Life when he somehow broke his leg.

The break was bad enough that Kevin ended up hospitalized.  When the extent of the injuries became known, Kevin was Life Flighted to a larger hospital in Denver for surgery.

According to his website, Kevin is looking forward to returning home to continue what will be a long recovery and healing process. Kevin would like to thank everyone for their prayers and is committed to fulfilling as many of his obligations and appearances that is physically possible.

Stay safe and get well, Kevin.

Oh, and little known fact, Kevin  moved to Weiser, Idaho when he was about 7 where his parents opened a restaurant.  Weiser, Idaho just happens to be the town where I graduated from high school.

Go Wolverines!

I know, I know.  I have to take what I can get, you know?

Calf fry gone wild

CrossCanadianRagweed

Maybe it was all the testosterone flowing from the consumption of calf yum-yums, or maybe it was the freely flowing alcohol, but whatever it was the annual “Testicle Festival” in Stillwater, Oklahoma became a wee bit dangerous last night.

Cross Canadian Ragweed's lead singer, Cody Canada, took a beer bottle to the head when someone winged it at him while he was on stage.  This led to a hospital visit and 20+ stitches.  It also forced the band to cancel a concert in Kansas City tonight (Saturday).

Unfortunately - or maybe fortunately - the band didn't Tweet any pictures of the injury ala Brad Paisley.

The band's website said: We are sorry to let you all know that we are having to cancel our performance tonight at the Red Dirt BBQ in Kansas City due to an incident last night in Stillwater Calf Fry in which someone struck Cody in the head with a liquor bottle from the crowd. Cody received a concussion and 20+ stitches and the doctors have told him not play. The remainder of the bands will play as schedule (please contact the venue for more info) . We thank you all for understanding and have a great time at the show with our buddies Stoney, Kevin and the rest!

No word on whether chicken wire will be included in next year's Testicle Festival performances for the safety of the performers or whether Miranda Lambert had to dodge any flying bottles when she performed at the festival tonight, although for their sake I hope all audience members kept their bottles to themselves during Miranda's performance because I have a feeling Miranda wouldn't be the only one needing stitches if they didn't.

Update: I've had some people asking if the bottle thrower was caught.  There's no word on whether the person was arrested or not and the police said they wouldn't have a report on arrests during the calf fry until Monday.

Is Taylor Swift's tour cursed?

Taylor hang up

Hello everyone.  I know, I know, I've been gone for three days.  THREE DAYS!  I'm sorry I haven't come on and updated or let you know what was going on but I've felt ick this week and had to go in for a biopsy.  I wont go into the whole long-ass story because medical crap isn't what anyone wants to hear about, but just know that I'm fine and I feel better now and most important is I'm back.  Yay.

And what better way to start the day than boo boos on the Taylor Swift tour?  No, I don't wish anyone ill will, it's just that it's like watching ice skating....despite the beauty and grace and talent that goes into professional ice skating, it's the wrecks and messups that I always sit and wait for.

Kind of like big stars, nothing better than watching something unexpected happen, especially when it's in front of loads of people.

First up is Taylor.  While performing last week in Fresno her dress got caught on something while she was singing Love Story.  It's at the 3:46 mark on the video below.  There's actually a better video here, but the video's embedding is disabled so I couldn't put it on here (boooo! by the way).  Taylor didn't fall so it wasn't quite as entertaining as ice skating, but it's still cute to see her laughing over the oops.

And then there's poor Kellie Pickler who took a spill last week in Las Vegas.  Although it sadly wasn't on stage so there'd be video, Kellie did Tweet about it.

I'm thinking that Gloriana better be watching their back because bad luck may be gunning for them.

I believe they call that Texas

73280283

Take a gander at that ginormous ouch which just happens to kind of look like Australia or Texas.

Or maybe I've just spent too much time on the therapist couch staring at ink blot tests.

Brad Tweeted this picture - the result of his spill on Saturday.

Definitely not the way I envisioned the day I'd get to see a little Brad Paisley skin.

Brad gives some medical staff their 15 minutes of fame

72414784

As I'm sure you all know, Brad took an onstage spill on Saturday and because we live in 2010, the year of all things social media, Brad's been Tweeting about his adventures along with giving the staff at Charleston's MUSC their 15 minutes of fame via TwitPics.

He wrote...

Brad Paisley's people ruin all my fun

Untitled

You know, the funnest part of this job is finding the news on my own.  It's like a scavenger hunt.  You look and look and look and look some more and abracadabra, all of a sudden you come across something funny or serious or whatever and it always gives me a small thrill.  And of course, being the completely unserious person I am, I like to make fun of the stars.  If you come here often, you know I'm not mean, I just have a wacky sense of humor and can find a good laugh in just abut every story.  But you know what? It kind of takes the wind out of my sails when a story I would normally laugh about comes across my desk in the form of a press release.  Honestly, how can you make fun of a big star falling on stage when the press release mentions bruises, ambulances, and hospitals?  I'm not that darn cold.

Here's the press release about Brad Paisley falling on stage last night.

Brad Paisley’s American Saturday Night Tour made its final stop on the tour at the Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, SC last night and on the final note of the encore finale (“Alcohol”), Brad fell on stage – he bounced back up, finished the show and thanked the audience and told them good-bye.  Once he left the stage he was transported to the local hospital via ambulance to be checked out – all is well, only badly bruised.  Brad was discharged from the hospital and is on his way home to Nashville.

Check out Brad’s Twitter for an update and photos - Twitter.com/paisleyofficial or bradpaisley.com.

The good news is Brad's okay.  The better news?  It's on YouTube.

Jake Owen had a hunting accident

53851459

Okay, now that I know how the cut on Jake's face happened it's actually kind of funny. Of course, you probably would have to be like me and have seen something like this happen in real life to find the humor.

Yesterday I had the picture that Jake Tweeted of himself with un unexplained gash to the forehead. Well Jake chatted with Mike and Amy over on Portland's' 99.5 The Wolf this morning and gave them the scoop on just what happened.

Apparently Jakey Poo was out hunting with his twin brother when he was sighting in a rifle and it recoiled, smacking him right between the eyes.

Ouch. Funny but ouch.

No worries, though, Jake just did the super glue thing and went on his way.  Besides, scars are always kind of sexy. Maybe he can tell the ladies it's an old war wound.

Also, if you head over to Big D and Bubba's site, you can hear Jake describing the wound-getting himself.  Check it out here.  It's pretty funny to hear Jake describe what happened.

Oh, and kids, never play with guns.

Guess the gams - gruesome wound edition

53851459

Yes, that's Jake Owen with a big gash between his eyes. Fortunately his humor was intact while Tweeting  this picture because he said...I put some super glue on it and walked it off...You should see the other guy...Stiches or not? That's the question right now. Damn....

Unfortunately Jake never let us in on the secret of how he damaged is fine face. Any guesses out there?

Darryl Worley blogs about neck surgery

Darryl%20Worley%20Shoot%20-%20Processed-56

I'm thinking about whether or not I knew Darryl Worley was having neck surgery and I can't honestly remember if I had heard anything about it or not.  Hmmm.  Well for those of you who were aware of Darryl's neck injury and surgery Darryl took to his blog to let his fans know everything's A-OK with him.

Just wanted to let everybody know that I'm doing good after the surgery. I had a discectomy and cervical fusion. Thank you for your prayers for me and my family. Barry is recovering fast from his crash and Mom's leg is  doing well.  They both have about 3 months of recovery time so Dad has his hands full. I did my first show back from surgery night before last. Everything went well but this has  been a little more challenging than I thought. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers and I hope to see you somewhere out there soon. No more pain in the neck!

So what exactly did happen?  I got curious and went to do a little digging.  The only thing I could find was on the Las Vegas Sun....

“I have a ruptured disc between the sixth and seventh cervical vertebrae right at the base of my neck, and a bone spur too,” he said from his home outside of Nashville. “So they’re going to go in through the front of my neck and remove the disc and put in an artificial one and fuse those two vertebrae together, and inject some bone cells into the equation and let those bone cells fuse that area into one big vertebrae.

“Years ago it was intense, or they thought it was because it’s right there in the spinal area and it’s a neural thing. But now, it has become very routine. It only takes about 45 minutes. I’m not even going to the hospital. I’m just going to the clinic where they first saw me. They’ll perform the surgery there and then they’ll let us go across street and let us spend the rest of the day and night in a hotel. Then they’ll see me the first thing the following morning and release me to go home.”

Ewww, ouch.  Seems Darryl actually hurt his neck years ago but then reinjured it back in September and has been having trouble ever since.
“We were doing some heavy lifting and cleaning up some stuff out on the farm and we picked up a really big toolbox and I ruptured my disc.”
Well I'm glad to see Darryl's back in action and feeling better.

Update:  Reader Amanda gave me the full story on what's going on. Thanks Amanda.....Yeah like you found out...he injured it again right before his annual TRR. His wife told that they were cleaning up around the farm because CMT was coming the week after TRR to tape for CMT Cribs. He and a friend were cleaning up and he picked up that toolbox by himself and that's how he did it. He told us during TRR that he may not be able to groove like usual haha. And announced last month at a show I went to that he was going to have surgery for it. Then, the day before he was to have his surgery, his mother fell and broke her leg up above the knee and they took her to the hospital that very night. And a couple of weeks before all of this, Darryl's brother, Barry had a bad car accident and was in Memphis hospital. It was a tough time for all 3 being in the Memphis hospital.

Eric Church busts his foot, keeps on touring

Eric's cast

Gab friend, Vicky, has been keeping Eric Church fans up to date with what's been going on with Eric.  Last week she had sent me the rumor that Eric had broken his foot. Then this week she sent me news that Eric's record label had confirmed the break, but that Eric would keep right on touring.

Capitol Records Nashville recording artist Eric Church fractured his foot during a show on his “Young & Wild(er) Tour” at the Syracuse State Fair on September 4.  No shows have or will be cancelled as a result of Church’s injury as he continues to bring his high-energy performance to fans each night.  Church is on tour supporting his sophomore release, Carolina, which features the Top 15 and climbing single, “Love Your Love The Most.”

“As my fans know, I get pretty excited on stage and stomp my feet,” explains Eric Church.  “The combination of the stomping and the fact that our crowds are crazier than ever led to me breaking my foot.  I refuse to miss a show over this, so for the time being, I'll be doing the rest of the shows from a stool.  I'm still gonna bring it, and I expect our fans to do the same.”

Well last night Gab reader, Lynsi sent me a few pictures of Eric and his cast.  She says... Eric said he was supposed to have surgery today (9/14) but due to the show he is flying to nashville tonight and having
it tomorrow.  His actual diagnosis was a torn tendon and broken foot.  He broke it because his boots that he had since he was 14 were too worn out and when he pounded on the stage he slipped. So i just  thought i would pass that on to you. The guy is great live if you ever get a chance to see him definitely take it.

Thanks Vicky and Lysni for keeping me updated. Be sure to check out Vicky's website at www.lovemycountrymusic.com.
