Trace Adkins to play The Virginian in new movie adaption of classic novel

Trace

Here's a movie role Trace Adkins was born to play.

Since Hollywood has completely run out of original ideas, they've decided to remake another old movie/T.V. show/book.

According to IMDB, Trace Adkins is currently filming the newest big screen adaption of Owen Wister’s classic novel “The Virginian.”

Trace will play the title character, The Virginian, who is described in the book (according to Wikipedia) as a tall, dark, slim young giant, with a deep personality. His real name is never given.

Okay, Trace has the tall part down pat. Not sure about the rest, but I'm pretty sure he'll do a damn fine job in the movie.

Also signed on to play in the movie is 'Sons of Anarchy' and 'Hellboy' star Ron Perlman who will play Judge Henry and George Canyon who will play Sheriff Broyles. According to Beaver 100.3, Cole Hauser and Jennifer Beals have also signed on to star.

No word on when fans can expect to be able to watch the finished product.

Kristin Chenoweth a bird brain? Reportedly joins voice cast of "Rio 2"

Rio 2  Kristin

If someone calls Kristin Chenoweth a bird brain, turns out it might just be a compliment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chenoweth has joined the voice cast of Rio 2 and will join the cast of the first Rio - Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Jamie Foxx and wil.i.am - as well as new cast members Andy Garcia, NBC Today Show anchor Natalie Morales, and Bruno Mars.

No word on what part Trace Adkins' ACA's cohost, Chenoweth, will play, but the movie synopsis from THR says:

Rio 2 will follow Blu (Eisenberg), a neurotic blue macaw, and Jewell (Hathaway), his free-spirited mate, as well as their three kids. The conflict of the film arises when Trace]]] Jewel expresses her desire to raise the chicks in the Amazon as "real birds" rather than in their current domesticated environment.

The animated film is set to be released April 14, 2014.

Jason Aldean has a new movie hitting Sundance this January

Sweetwaterfinal_web_160
Back a couple of days ago there was a story going around that Jason Aldean was interested in adding acting to his resume. From Country Weekly:

"I may dabble in some things here and there. Movies or whatever maybe here and there," Jason tells ABC News Radio, "but music will always kinda be my main focus."

Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, Carrie Underwood and Kix Brooks have all tried the big screen, and Miranda Lambert had a turn on one of her favorite TV crime dramas.

Jason says he just wants to give it a try.

"It's one of those things where if I do a movie, I don't even know if I'm any good. So, I may do one and it sucks and I'm a horrible actor, and I'll never do another one. We'll see," he said.

"But you'll probably see me dabbling in some stuff like that, I think, in the future."

The funny thing is, Jason's already apparently added actor to his resume and has a movie that will be hitting the Sundance Film Festival this January.

According to The Salt Lake Review, Jason appears in a movie called "Sweetwater" which stars January Jones (X-Men: First Class) and Ed Harris (Appaloosa). Here's the info The Salt Lake Review has on Jason's very first movie:

SWEETWATER

Director: Logan and Noah Miller

Cast: January Jones, Ed Harris, Jason Isaacs, Jason Aldean, Eduardo Noriega

Attending: January Jones, Ed Harris, Jason Isaacs, Eduardo Noriega

Set in the untamed desert of 1880s New Mexico, a prostitute-turned-doting farmers wife (January Jones) is forced to seek vigilante justice when power-hungry self-proclaimed Prophet Josiah (Jason Isaacs) unleashes violence in his community. Complicated by the arrival of the shrewd, yet eccentric Sherriff Jackson (Ed Harris), the battle of good versus evil and faith versus fanaticism comes to a head in the sleepy town of Sweetwater. (World Premiere)

The info about the movie being shot was released back April, but there was no mention of Jason taking part in it. IMDB also doesn't list Jason as being part of the film so I'm not too sure how much he will appear in it. I also can't find a website for the movie or an expected release date so it's all kind of a blurry mystery right now. I will keep you updated once I find some more info.

You can check out a bit more of the synopsis of the film here.

Big & Rich buddy, Cowboy Troy, lands movie part

Troy with big and rich
Congrats to Big & Rich cohort Cowboy Troy who is branching out from his own style of country music into movies.

This morning he posted the news on his Facebook.

Thanks to Kathy L. Carter for the following kind words: "Well I know and now all of your fans will know that YOU ARE DOING GREAT TODAY!!! because you booked a Supporting role in the movie "One Heart". You will start filming October 15th in Dallas, Texas. Congrats, Troy! Here is the story line in case anyone is interested: Based on true events, this is an inspiring story of how a 2008 high school football game between a private school and a maximum-security juvenile facility changed the lives of those on both sides of the ball. As their worlds collide, through sportsmanship, teamwork and their encounters each side learns about true compassion, the value every life holds, and the chance to provide hope for those in need of a second chance. (if you want updates, hit me up on my Facebook page kathyleighcarter)"

You can find out more information about "One Heart" on its website. No word yet on what part Troy will be playing, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Kix Brooks' new movie to premiere next month

Kix movie
Last year, Kix Brooks shot a new movie called 'To Kill a Memory' in which he plays a lawman who robs a bank and ends up going to prison. He then has to escape from prison when he learns that his fellow bank robbers may be going after his wife. Now the movie has an official premiere date.

"To Kill A Memory" has been chosen as a "2012 Early 10 Films" by the Austin Film Festival and will premiere there next month. The festival runs from October 18-25 in Austin, Texas.

Randy Houser also has a part in the movie, but there's no word on if he will be at the premiere. I also can't find any sort of general release info for the movie so I'm not sure if it's headed to theaters, TVs, or DVD and when that might be.

Check out the movie's trailer below. You can also check out loads of photos from the movie shoot here.

Julianne Hough scores another new movie role

Julianne Hough's movie career is moving along quite nicely now.

Julianne's been busy shooting a movie called 'Safe Haven' with Josh Duhamel which is based on a Nicolas Sparks book by the same name. Now comes word that Julianne has another new movie in the works.

Julianne recently worked with 'Juno' writer Diablo Cody on the film that was previously called 'Lamb of God', but which now is just referred to as untitled. The movie is Cody's directorial debut. Well things must have exceptionally gone well because Diablo Cody has hired Julianne once again for her new movie that she's written called 'Time and a Half'.

According to Variety, Julianne will play a recent college grad who takes a temp job at a trophy store where she runs into her sister's high school boyfriend with whom she had a one-night stand.

It's reportedly a romantic comedy.

The movie is currently waiting to start shooting until they find the perfect movie sister for Julianne and isn't expected to start production until next year.

On a totally unrelated note, while scanning YouTube I came across the video above of Julianne and the rest of the cast and crew of Julianne's current movie 'Safe Haven' presenting a check for $1,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of Southport for its entry in the movie's parade float contest. The presentation was held in front of Southport City Hall in between filming on Wednesday, August 8.
