Montgomery Gentry's album to be sold through restaurant chain that ISN'T Cracker Barrel, will benefit Armed Services YMCA

Rebels on the Run
Montgomery Gentry has teamed up with Buffets.com, a company that includes Ryan's, Old Country Buffet, and other restaurants, to begin selling their latest album, Rebels on the Run, with proceeds from sales benefiting the Armed Services YMCA.

"We really wanted to try to find some ways to connect with our customer base and there's a significant crossover between who our customers are and people who listen to country music," Jason Abelkop, chief marketing officer, Buffets, Inc. tells Billboard.biz. "As we looked at artists, Montgomery Gentry is obviously very popular, but in addition to that they have a long-standing commitment and support for the military. We were trying to find a way to engage our consumers and show support for the military."

"All proceeds from the sales will benefit the Armed Services YMCA," says Abelkop. "They help engage kids and really the whole family when service people come home. And they provide, on an ongoing basis, camp opportunities for kids of military families."

The album, which was originally released in October of 2011, will be available beginning July 5 at more than 350 Buffet, Inc. locations across the U.S. and will sell for $8.99.

You can search to see if a restaurant near you is part of Buffet, Inc.'s family of restaurants here.

And speaking of Montgomery Gentry, the duo released their new video for So Called Life exclusively to Jim Beam's Facebook yesterday.  You can check it out here.

"Rebels On The Run" Out Oct 18th Montgomery Gentry Still On The Right Track

Montgomery Gentry started out their career with "Hillbilly Shoes" now they are "Rebels on the Run."  But they are not actually running from anything, they are continuing to do what they have always done, make music their way with their own distinguishing style.

MG300

This past year has been one of trials and tribulations.  The ever charismatic Eddie Montgomery was diagnosed with cancer which he never allowed to get him down.  This is a trial for any one person but the beating it successfully is the tribulation.  The guys took on another trial of sorts when their long time recording agreement with Sony ended.  And not too long after enters Average Joe's Entertainment as their next tribulation.  To promote this new beginning and the new album a new website was created as well.   http://www.montgomerygentry.com/

The songs on the "Rebels on the Run" keep them on track with the down to earth working class person who can relate to many of them.  I heard "Damn Right" live in concert this past summer and knew right there this was a good indication the new album would be great. Eddie and Troy never lose sight of where they came from and who helped them get where they are today.  They do not call them fans, they call them friends.  Well FRIENDS you have weathered their storms right along with them and this is another gift to you from the guys.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In an event that will span the globe, Kentucky’s own Montgomery Gentry will perform in a concert for some of its biggest fans — US military Families and the volunteers who support them. A joint effort between the USO and the Kentucky National Guard, this first-ever “USO Homefront Concert” will be broadcast live from Louisville Kentucky’s KFC YUM! Center on Tuesday, July 26th at 7:00 p.m.

The concert is the capstone event for more than 1,400 attendees at the National Guard’s 2011 National Volunteers’ Workshop and Youth Symposium, also held in Louisville. “The USO Homefront Concert will have an impact far outside Louisville and the state of Kentucky,” said Maj. Gen. Edward W. Tonini, adjutant general for Kentucky. “In addition to providing a great performance for the troops and their families at the Yum Center, we’re broadcasting it live online to service members across the globe.”

According to Tonini, the USO Homefront Concert can be viewed live through Pentagon Channel. The anticipated audience includes 32 million homes in the U.S. and over 378 bases worldwide. The Pentagon will also uplink the program to Armed Forces Network (AFN) for distribution worldwide and even ships at sea. “This event is not just for the National Guard,” said Tonini. “It’s for every man and woman around the world wearing a United States military uniform — and especially for their families.”

For more information on the USO Homefront Concert and how to watch Montgomery Gentry’s performance, go to www.homefrontconcert.com . You can also set up a ‘Watch Party’ with your family members by going to the USO Homefront Concert Facebook page, “LIKE” the page and sign up for the Watch Party online kit.

Country takes over the Derby

Miranda Lambert Derby partyMiranda Lambert who was also celebrating her bachelorette party Derby weekend.

The 137th running of the Kentucky Derby was yesterday, May 7th, at Churchill Downs and to help celebrate the occasion a few country stars hit up the Barnstable Brown Derby party on Friday in Louisville, Kentucky.  And by the big smiles I think they may have been serving Mint Juleps on the red carpet.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any pictures of the country celebs on race day wearing the customary funny hats so we will just have to make do with their cowboy hats.

Montgomery Gentry Once Again Embark on USO Tour

This energetic dynamic duo is kicking off 2011 in rollicking fashion.  On Jan 21st they played the Grand Ole Opry; their first visit back since Eddies successful prostate cancer surgery, which he has been given a clean bill of health from, then they leave Sunday the 23rd for an eight day USO/Armed Forces Entertainment Tour.

From a statement on the duo's website Troy Gentry adds, "We couldn't be more excited to start our year with a visit to the Opry and this USO trip to entertain our troops.  We understand on a much smaller level what it is like to be away from our families and our homes.  If we can bring a little bit of home to our heroes serving overseas, then we're all for it."  They will bring their music to Seoul, Korea then on to Okinawa.  Here in a picture courtesy of Crook & Chase, the duo is rehearsing for their tour.  Like the beard Troy is sporting; getting ready for the cold weather.

These boys are not "newbies" to our military.  They are proud to be part of the Wounded Warrior Project & have embarked on many previous USO Tours. Here is a wonderful point of recognition from the USO:  http://www.usa-patriotism.com/stars/mg.htm

Safe journey from all of us and a big thanks for all you do to bring a bit of home to our troops.

Eddie Montgomery UPDATE!! His Upbeat Attitude is Welcoming

DSC00869

For anyone who has gone through any type of cancer diagnosis or you know anyone who has it can be a very trying time.  But they say an upbeat attitude can play a BIG part in recovery & I do believe Eddie Montgomery has just that.  Not only was he diagnosed with prostate cancer, he was also served with divorce papers shortly after.  This would try anyone's patience I would think.

It is not an easy time but after reading this from his fan club page & seeing him back on Facebook I know Eddie is one tough dude who will survive.  The best to him for a speedy recovery & continued prayers to him & his family to get through their lives in these trying times.

Eddie Montgomery is happy to report that he is resting at home after a successful surgery to treat prostate cancer earlier this week.  The doctors report that no further treatment should be needed, and he plans to enjoy some down time at home with his family.

After a break to enjoy the holidays, Eddie and duo partner Troy Gentry will be heading out on a USO Tour in early 2011.

Eddie added, "I'm ready to get on the road and raise some hell next year!!"

An update on the Blake Shelton fight and Eddie Montgomery's divorce drama

Blake eddie
Two updates on a couple of stories I told you about yesterday.

First off, the Eddie Montgomery divorce story.  Eddie's wife, Tracy, also has a Twitter account (her tagline is "Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History." That kind of made me chuckle) of her own and Twittered a statement regarding her divorcing her famous husband.

Tracy Mongtomery

Sounds fair since there really are always two sides to every story.  I'm just hoping no other parties are involved in this divorce since there's been too much of that going around these days in the celeb world.

And now for the Blake Shelton/Miranda Lambert/Nickelback dude near-three-way-bar-brawl.  One reader wrote me to let me know what she herself seen the night of the CMAs when the Us Weekly story was supposed to have taken place.  Here's what she had to say:

I have a few accuracy issues with the US Weekly story about Blake and Miranda and Chad.  November 10 was the night of the CMAs, and I know because we were there for the ceremony...our station won for major market radio station...yee haw!  Anyway, after the show, we stopped by the Warner Brothers party and Blake was there, but Miranda wasn't.  Chad was also there, though I had no idea who he was.  A co-worker grabbed my daughter (age 11) and ushered her up to him to have a picture taken with him, and we were all cracking up because none of us (except said co-worker) knew who he was!

I guess maybe Miranda could have had a birthday party that night, but it would have been a really late party.  When we left Warner Bros. at 1ish, Blake and Chad were still there.

So there you go, a little extra to add to any watercooler gossiping you may be doing today.

Proof that life can always get just a little bit crappier - Eddie Montgomery's wife files for divorce

Eddie and wife
Well this is just kind of cringe worthy.  Eddie Montgomery - the prostate-cancer-suffering half of Montgomery Gentry - may have thought his life had hit an all time low when he was recently diagnosed with cancer, but that was before his wife decided to slap him upside the head with divorce papers.

Last night, Tuesday, November 30th, while having what was probably a lovely dinner with his 23-year-old daughter Brooke at the steakhouse Eddie owns, he was served the divorce papers.  Eddie then quickly took to his Twitter to ask what pretty much anyone would have done....WTF?

The tweets, which have since been removed, were along the lines of:

“OMG, I just got my heart broke.”

"She says she’s a Christian wow…I think I need to get her a braclet what would Jesus do cause I hope he still here with me”

“U find out u got cancer then u found out ur wife can’t handle that so she seek of and files for a divorce ,,, merry christmas.”

Merry Christmas indeed.  You never know what's going on in a person's personal life and behind closed doors, but you would have thought that after 20 years of marriage the lady could have at least given Eddie a little respect and stayed with him until his surgery was finished sometime this month.

Seems a bit harsh, don't you think?

Eddie Montgomery reveals cancer diagnosis

LAS VEGAS - APRIL 18: Singer Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry, recipient of the Home Depot Humanitarian Award poses in the press room during the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 18, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)

Eddie Montgomery released a short statement today to let the world know that he has prostate cancer.

“Yes, rumors have started. And the truth is I have recently been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I will be undergoing surgery to remove the cancerous tumor in December. I will be back in January ready to rock for all the fans! Please keep my family and I in your prayers.” - Eddie Montgomery

Short, sweet, and to the point.  Sending out kick-cancer's-ass vibes to Eddie as we speak.
