Maybe Mindy's next single should be liar, liar, pants on fire

Gads, I thought this whole Mindy McCready sex tape thing was done and over with.  Not so apparently. 

Welcome to the world of old sex tapes never die and signed model releases never disappear.

E! Online has obtained a release that appears to show that Mindy signed off on AND was paid for her sex tape back on January 13, 2009. 

Yes, 2009.

Maybe she just forgot?

Now you could maybe say it was forged and the "entertainment" company is just trying to get away with exploiting Mindy.  Yeah, you could say that, except for the fact that the release was notarized in Tennessee.

I guess maybe back in 2009 Mindy didn't realize she would have a new CD out and be back on the sober track in 2010.  Too bad, so sad.  Guess the better thing to have done when all this came to light would have been to have said, "oops, I was high at the time."  Everyone would have just chalked it up to that crazy Mindy and her self-destructive ways and no one would still be talking about it. 

But she didn't and now we are (still talking about it that is).  Now I'm curious how much she was paid, but I'm sure that will be the next info to come out. 

Mindy McCready wants this whole sex tape thing to go away....right after she talks about it

I'm still torn on this whole sex tape thing.  Nothing gives a celebrity more press, more interview opportunities than a good ol' recorded romp-in-the-hay. Heck, even Screech from Saved By The Bell released a XXX tape and got a little press time out of it, they're that friggin' powerful. So you have to excuse me for my automatic assumption that Mindy had something more to do with the now-blocked (at least temporarily) Baseball Mistress than she let on. Its coming to the surface was just way too convenient.

But then again, maybe Mindy just has enemies that really, really don't want to see her succeed. 

Who knows the truth?  I don't and you probably don't either.  Problem is, I really don't care.  I was ready to just move on to the next story forget the tape ever existed.  Unfortunately Mindy's not.  I guess I understand her wanting to let her side of the story be known, but again, it all just seems too convenient.  I guess you just take advantage of what comes your way.  

Anyway, Mindy's making the media rounds.

The footage, along with other property, was stolen by a family friend in 2006, Mindy tells Country Weekly. “Everything that I have ever owned, every picture I’ve taken, every piece of clothing I have ever bought, every award I’ve won, everything. My mom’s best friend was supposed to store it from me in a storage facility which she owned."

The tape's release is not a marketing ploy, Mindy says.  "This has not been a media stunt. This was not a planned thing,” Mindy says. “I wish the media would think about things before they say them. It is a possibility that there are more people out there than myself that are trying to capitalize on me. The fact is that every single thing that [media has speculated] that I did or orchestrated, is simply not true." Her album, I'm Still Here, was released on March 23 with tepid sales results.

"In light of all the changes I’ve tried to make and worked so hard to make a reality, it’s quite insulting for people to think I would do something like this on purpose for headlines," the Celebrity Rehab reality show stars says, noting that she's fighting to get custody of her four-year-old son back from her mother. "That’s a delicate matter. My mom and I are arguing over that situation. Me putting out some kind of a tape like that would be the worst thing I could ever do at this time regarding that situation.”

Mindy then gave an interview on camera with Access Hollywood (here) where she says, “I’ve done a lot of ridiculously dumb things that have come back to haunt me,” she said. “I hope to goodness that there is nothing else because I am ready for life to be slightly boring for a minute.”

Amen to that sistah, I'm ready for you to live a boring life too.  Hopefully one of these days we'll actually be able to focus on her new CD "I'm Still Here" which is actually quite good.

Clarification on a couple of things

Alright, gonna do a couple of clarifications on earlier stories - or more like updates, but whatever.

First off, Mindy McCready's XXX dirty documentary has been put on indefinite hold.

Upon notification that Vivid Entertainment has not provided proof of distribution rights and/or ownership to release the so-called Mindy McCready "Baseball Mistress," Spike.com has pulled the corresponding teaser video.

Both Attorney Adam Dread, legal counsel for Mindy McCready, and McCready are hopeful other outlets will follow suit; according to Dread, Vivid has yet to provide proof of authorization or authenticity.

Spoil sports.  Okay, I'm actually I'm rooting for Mindy to stay on the straight and narrow this go around so let's hope that this is the first step to country career salvation.  I'm still of a mind that this tape is the best publicity that Mindy's gotten in a long time, but I guess not everyone's a glass-half-full kinda person like me.

 

Next up is Gretchen Wilson.  I had a post last week where Gretchen was quoted as saying she was still waiting to receive any royalties from her earlier work with Sony. 

 

Yeah, turns out it was like a last ditch attempt to take a jab at her former record label.  Gretchen's actually received royalty money, lots and lots of royalty money.

In a story March 30, The Associated Press reported that country music singer Gretchen Wilson said she received no royalties during her time with Sony. Wilson's manager, Marc Oswald, now says she "misspoke" and that she made significant royalties from her early work with Sony, though nothing recently.

So there you go, you're now updated.

Could Roger Clemens' ED get Mindy in trouble with the feds?

Gotta love Mindy McCready, she creates drama everywhere she goes, even if it's simply by default.

Word hit yesterday that Mindy has a sex tape.  I don't know about all of you but I wasn't one bit surprised.  I also wasn't at all surprised at the timing of the release.  I'm not saying that Mindy has anything to do with it being in the hands of the Vivid Entertainment, just saying it's all a little convenient. 

Anyway, publicity conspiracy theories aside, there's an interesting little tidbit coming out of all the sex talk, the fact that Mindy reportedly had dealings with the feds a couple of years back who were very interested in Mindy's intimate dealings with Roger Clemens.  See the feds were - and still are I guess - investigating Clemens about whether he lied about using steroids.  One of the side effects of steroid use is an inability to perform, so to speak.

So back to Mindy.  In her new sex tape she exposes Clemens' problems in the bedroom - possibly a side effect of drug use.  Now comes the question of what Mindy told the feds who visited her and questioned her about the intimate details of her and Clemens' relationship.

Did she tell them the same thing that she said in the tape - that Clemens had erectile dysfunction - and if she didn't tell them that, could she get in trouble for lying to federal agents? 

Things that make you go hmmmm indeed.

Subpoenas are being handed out in the investigation into performance enhancing drug use by baseball players and those involved with the baseball players, which kind of makes me curious if Mindy will be next to have to answer questions in front of the grand jury in Washington D.C.

Further proof to all celebs that keeping your cameras firmly in the off position is always a really good idea.

Oh joy of joys, Mindy's got a sex tape

There are five ways to ensure that your name makes the media and blog rounds when your career starts to sag (or has been sagging for a while) - get arrested, go to rehab, go on a reality show, die, or release a sex tape. 

Up until today Mindy McCready had only accomplished three out of the five must-do's for celebrity notoriety. As of today, she's hit four.  The only good news about this story is that Mindy's fourth accomplishment wasn't to have died.

Mindy's got a new album out in stores called "I'm Still Here" and in celebration of her achievement Vivid Entertainment - that classy outfit that's responsible for Kim Kardashian's sex tape - has decided to release a sex tape that reportedly features Mindy.  

The tape called "Baseball Mistress" has Mindy and her ex named "Peter" chatting about baseball man Roger Clemens (who Mindy had an affair with as a teenager) and his inability to always hit a home run (badump dump), Mindy's many supposed celebrity conquests, the fact that she doesn't consider herself a bad girl, and her feelings that Oprah's a misinformed racist....oh, and there's sex, lots and lots of the dirty stuff.

Oh goodie, goodie.  I honestly can't contain my enthusiasm, let me tell you what.

Reportedly Mindy's not the one releasing the tape but she's also not denying it's her.  Her reps tell Fox News that they don't know who is the source of the tape but say, "We have been informed by legal counsel that any illegally-obtained property, and/or fabricated footage, will be dealt with swiftly, following proper legal procedure," the company said. "We are awaiting a statement and direction from Mindy's legal counsel and will issue an official response shortly."

I'm sure they will be dealing with this swiftly just as soon as the publicity Mindy's getting from it starts to wane.

I for one could care less about the sex, I am, however, wondering what names Mindy's dropped in her slew of celebrity conquests that was mentioned in the Fox News story.  This could wind up being an interesting video....for research purposes only of course.

Vivid.com is said to be releasing “Baseball Mistress” April 19.

I'm not a shoe person, but must say that those are some awesome boots Mindy sported on The View yesterday. 

Glad to see she's looking so bright eyed and bushy tailed. Contrary to popular belief, I'm rooting for the girl.

I want a man and apparently so does Mindy McCready

Hey, hey, hey, look who's back for some reason other than rehab, arrest, or a suicide attempt....it's my favorite country train wreck, Mindy McCready.  The singer, who apparently is part cat (you know, 9 lives and all that), has a brand new album called "I'm Still Here" coming out March 23rd. 

“We have always been confident in Mindy’s talent,”Mindy's record label head, Michael Fancher, says. “This album shows she’s at the top of her game musically; she’s the best she’s ever sounded and we look forward to reintroducing her music to fans new and old.”

Okay, all joking and snide remarks aside, if you head over to Mindy's official website you can listen to some of the music from the album and it's not half bad.  In fact, the song I Want a Man is actually a fun listen (the reason for my post title, I'm really not in the market for a new dude).  I'm not exactly sure what was going through her head when she remade Garth's awesome The Dance, but I'll chalk that one up to the few million brain cells that have been fried due to all her past mistakes. 

Now I'm curious if country music listeners will be willing to give Mindy another shot. 

Reality TV gets the Mindy and Jessica treatment

 

Cover your ears and eyes and go lalalalalalalala if you don't want to hear news of Jessica Simpson or Mindy McCready. 

First off is Mindy.  Contact Music is reporting that little Miss McCready is heading to rehab - Celebrity Rehab that is.  The troubled singer will be joining the cast of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" this season where she'll tackle her addiction demons for entertainment and ratings.

Woohoo.  I guess nothing else has worked, maybe this will do the trick.

Jessica Simpson, on the other hand, is going a slightly different route.

Us Weekly is reporting that Jessica is using her experience with body drama to create a new reality series that she's currently shopping around.  She's been pitching the show to different television networks that will deal with "society's scrutiny of women's bodies."

The premise of the program, titled The Price of Beauty: "She and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why," says a source.

I've never watched Celebrity Rehab and probably wont now that Mindy's joining the cast.  Jessica's reality show, though, sounds interesting.  In any case, I suppose if you can't make it singing country, you've gotta pay the bills somehow. 

Need a little publicity? Talk to The Enquirer

Mindy McCready and her ex, Billy McKnight, are currently trying to promote a single they recorded together and need a little publicity.  What better way to do that than to chat with The National Enquirer.

Billy, who was once jailed for allegedly trying to kill Mindy, spoke with the rag mag about him and Mindy now living together in sunny Florida, hoping to make things work for their 3-year-old son, Zander.

"We're trying to get past all the bad stuff we've been through. We both came to the realization we have to do everything we can to do right by our son," Billy says. "As far as our relationship as a couple, let's just say we're taking baby steps right now."

Ugh.  I think their pal summed it up best when he/she told the magazine, "Mindy and Billy must've completely lost their minds."

I second that statement. 

Update:  Mindy's mom currently has custody of Zander and Mindy is reportedly trying to get custody back.  Not sure moving in with an ex-abuser (even if he's the baby-daddy) is the smartest move.
