Scotty McCreery Has Headlining Status at Jukebox Music Festival

The "New Kid in Town", Scotty McCreery has made his mark on the country music world since his 2011 win on American Idol.  His debut album, "Clear As Day" brought us two smash hits.

The album’s debut single, “I Love You This Big,” became a Top 15 hit and enjoyed the highest-charting debut for a new artist since at least 1984, while the video for the song hit No. 1 in just a week after its release. He recorded his debut album while starring in the American Idols Live! Tour, which Pollstar ranked as one of the nation’s Top 15 tours.  He followed that up with "The Trouble With Girls."

A new musicl festival has been added to the summer's never ending list of things to do.  The Inaugural "Juke Box Music Festival" will take place in Anderson, CA from July 20-22.  This event is sporting some big names other than Scotty's, who will headline on Friday night on the Headliner Stage.  Saturday on that same Headliner Stage is Joe Nichols & Sunday is Alan Jackson.

On the Grand Stand Stage there are some very impressive guest's.  Friday night is Mark Chestnut, Saturday Kellie Pickler and Sunday Ricky Skaggs & Pam Tillis.  Times are leveled so as not cross over to the Headliner stage performances.  I am very much liking the sound of this impressive good old country music line-up.  Tickets are on sale now and are going fast.  To learn more about the Juke Box Music Festival head on over to their site and get ready to kick up your heels.  http://jukeboxmusicfestival.com/

 

Mark Chesnutt, the singer, has not been shot

 Got an email just a bit ago from a concerned reader who said the Twitterverse was starting to spread word that Mark Chesnutt was in critical condition after being shot. 

Only thing is, it isn't the Mark Chesnutt people think.

Sgt. Mark Chesnut, a 22-year Nashville Metro police veteran, was shot after a routine traffic stop yesterday morning.  He's currently at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he's said to be in critical condition but awake and talking and resting as comfortably as can be expected.  He underwent surgery yesterday with another expected today. 

Police say that Chesnutwas sitting in his car looking up information on a stopped vehicle when a man got out of the car and walked up to the unmarked police car and shot Chesnut several times before driving off. Luckily two suspects were picked up a short time later.

While I'm happy to report that the singer Mark Chesnutt is alive and well and currently bulletfree, I think the officer and his family can use all the prayers we can muster.

A word about gun safety

Let's have a chat, shall we?  Being able to own a firearm is a big responsibility.  First rule of thumb before cleaning your gun should always be to remove. all. bullets.  Got that everyone? 

That being said, Mark Chesnutt's guitarist, Delaney Jackson, shot himself in the hand last Thursday afternoon while cleaning his pistol at home.  He's fine, but is scheduled for surgery this morning. 

I'm thinking he may be on Christmas vacation for a while now. 

Safety first people!  Ha! Bubba shot the jukebox indeed.

Mark Chesnutt cancels appearance due to illness

According to The Hawk Eye Mark Chesnutt was forced to cancel his planned appearance at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Iowa tonight, August 31, due to an unspecified illness.

Mark Chesnutt's bus involved in accident

The tour bus carrying most of Mark Chesnutt's band was rear-ended Sunday by a driver who was reportedly drinking and traveling about 100 miles per hour.  The driver also had no driver's license.  The accident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. after a performance by Chesnutt and his band in Fort Worth, Texas.  Chesnutt was not on the bus and was instead flying to his home in Beaumont. 

"I'm really, really glad all the boys are all right," says Chesnutt, who returned by airplane to his Beaumont home. "Thank God. In as much as I was in the air, I'd still rather drive than fly. I love the bus!"

Drinking and driving is never good, I wish everyone in the world would get that through their heads, but I'm glad all on board the bus were OK.
