Joey and Rory's new country T.V. show premiered last Friday (from the mailbag)

Music lovers were first introduced to award-winning duo Joey+Rory on CMT's Can You Duet show over four years ago, and fans and newcomers will get to know their talent, their love story and their downhome lifestyle even better when The Joey+Rory Show launches on RFD-TV this Friday, July 6, 2012.

Filmed entirely at their farm and in their community of Pottsville, Tennessee, the first 13 episodes of The Joey+Rory Show will invite the viewer into their small-town world with a mix of live performances of songs from their third album, His and Hers - which hits stores July 31, recipes from their family-owned Marcy Jo's café, behind-the-scenes looks into their life together, intimate acoustic performances from the duo and a select group of singers and songwriters that inspire them.

Joey and Rory renew their vows over the weekend

Awww, well congratulations to singing married couple Joey and Rory who renewed their vows this weekend. 

On Sunday morning, the male half of the duo, Rory, tweeted to their fans the good news:

I surprised Joey...and we renewed our vows this morning at a beautiful little chapel here in Sweden. Happy tears. #fb. 

How romantic.  

Speaking of Joey and Rory, I just read that the couple have gotten their very own TV show.  While on their website checking things out, I saw this:

Tune into RFD-TV every Friday night starting July 6th to watch Joey and Rory's new television series "THE JOEY+RORY SHOW"... a weekly variety show that will air at 9 pm Eastern Standard Time (8 pm CST, 7 pm MST & 6 pm PST) .... you'll hear brand-new songs from their new album "His and Hers", be introduced to some Joey and Rory's favorite undiscovered singer-songwriters, hear about recipes from their family diner "Marcy Jo's Mealhouse", watch intimate acoustic performances of some of their favorite songs, get behind-the-scenes glimpses into their daily lives... and much more. 

They also have a new album coming out. His and Hers will be available on July 31.

It's a rarely seen sight....country singer doing bills

Well this is awesome.  I love taking a peek into the normal, everyday lives of country singers, and this is about as normal as it gets.  

This morning the husband half of country duo - and highly underrated if you ask me -- Joey and Rory, posted a picture on Twitter of something most of us do on a regular basis....bills.

I love the fact that Joey's concentrating hard at stacks of papers all spread out and crazy looking on the table....just like me and millions of other people do their bills each month. 

Of course I don't see a box of Kleenex for tears shed so it is a bit different than my average bill paying sessions.  

ACM Weekend Is NOT Just About The Artist's...Yet They Bring Us All Together

As the dust has somewhat settled and I am slowing getting organized since my return from ACM weekend in Vegas I look back on what really goes on, what we see and what we learn.  You can say I am still probably a "newbie" since I have only been attending the weekend since 2008, so I am not your "well seasoned veteran".  But in these years I have seen many changes, some we did not always agree with, and some that are really well done.

Joey + Rory Album #2 Review

The first song on Joey + Rory Album #2 is the witty punch line to the CD's, seemingly, rather unimaginative title. One listen and you, too, will be an insider rooting for the success of team Joey and Rory. The duo sing together with an ease that makes me suspect that they also finish each other's sentences at home.  Joey's clear vocals resonate throughout That's Important to Me and Rory carries the weight later with the ballad My Ol' Man.  The pair's authentic country tunes caused this reviewer to be swept from her chair across the kitchen floor by her husband for some swing dancing during All You Need is Me and said reviewer was pulled close for Born to be Your Woman. Venue audiences will love You Ain't Right and those dreaming of taking the stage should listen to Farm to Fame.  The final cut, This Song's for You, has the Zac Brown Band joining Joey and Rory for an anthem of gratitude and the artists send their love right out to you! As the song Album #2 asks, "...the critics are all waiting to see if we come through...".  My advice is buy Album #2.

Spiderman and Tim McGraw together at the Country Strong premier

 
Okay, first let's talk about the fact that Spiderman (aka Tobey Maguire) produced Country Strong.  Did not know that.  So he was at tonight's Nashville premier. 

Now let's talk about how Tim and Spiderman looked at said premier.

Uhmmm.  Yeah.  Not a fan of Tim's golf pro look.  But whatever.  Tim's still sexy as hell, even if he's looking skinnier than Faith these days. 

Yeah, that's Spiderman below going for the whole my-clothes-are-too-tight-and-riding-up-my-ass-but-at-least-you-don't-notice-because-my-hair's-trying-to-eat-my-ear look.  The ladies all look lovely, tho, even Gwyneth - yes, that took a lot for me to say. 

 
The always lovely Sara Evans and her handsome hubby, Jay Barker, were there.  Not a good look on Sara if she wants to keep those pregnancy rumors at bay, but she always looks beautiful so.....  

Joey + Rory were there too.  I would make fun of the overalls, but I like these two and think they're cute as a couple of speckled pups so I'll leave the pants alone.  Still can't get over how much Joey and Sara Evans look alike.

2010 Country Music Award Predictions

Although another name for the awards could be called `2010 Miranda Lambert Awards`  Let`s get it started:

Entertainer of the Year :
Lady Antebellum
Miranda Lambert
Brad Paisley - winner
Keith Urban
Zac Brown Band

Let’s start off with the big one, the one that everyone looks out for.  And for the first time in a while, the line up looks different.  3 first timers make the list (Lady A, Miranda, and Zac Brown), and although they all did extremely well this year, I don’t think this is their time.  Brad Paisley is long overdue for the award, and it looks like he’s going to finally take it home.  However, I feel that Carrie should have been nominated and could have won it.

Female Vocalist of the Year :
Miranda Lambert - winner
Martina McBride
Reba McEntire
Taylor Swift
Carrie Underwood

As opposed to the Entertainer of the Year category, this category is exactly the same, with most of the women having great years.  Martina probably had the least impact this year, and we can count her out.  Taylor: what to say about her.  She a worldwide phenomenon, however, she was pretty laid back for most of the eligibility, so she’s probably not going to win either.  That leaves us with Reba, Miranda and Carrie, and although Reba had a great year, she didn’t have the same success that Carrie or Miranda had.  And with the critical and commercial success she had this year (along with 9 nominations), it’s looking as if Miranda has the greatest chance of winning.

Joey+Rory New Video

The video for Joey+Rory's new song has been released.  "That's Important To Me" is the second single from their sophomore album, Album Number Two, which was released last month.

 

I also just learned that Joey+Rory have a daughter who also sings.  Her name is Heidi Feek and she recently released an EP of country/folk songs.  You can learn more about her here.

That's one handsome ass you have there Joey

Joey + Rory spent last weekend at their farm outside of Nashville shooting a music video that's hush hush enough that no details have been released about it, not even which song the video was being filmed for.  They have, however, released a few pictures including this one of Joey happily posing with a real ass. 

It's the lame jokes that keep me sane, just go with it.
