Jessica Simpson talks about smoking (or not smoking) weed with Willie Nelson

Jessica Simpson has a new Christmas album out called Happy Christmas and she's also newly engaged so she's been doing the media rounds.  Yesterday she chatted with Mojo in the Morning and the subject of Willie Nelson came up and whether she did or didn't ever smoke a blunt with the country legend.

MOJO: DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM OVER THE WEEKEND?

JESSICA: I DID

MOJO: HE GOT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION. HAVE YOU EVER SMOKED WITH HIM?

JESSICA: I HAVE NOT.

MOJO: HAS HE EVER SMOKED IN FRONT OF YOU?

JESSICA: WHAT? THAT WAS A BAD CONNECTION

SPIKE: (LAUGHTER) THAT WAS NOT A BAD CONNECTION, ‘CAUSE HE SMOKED IN FRONT OF ME, I KNOW HE SMOKED IN FRONT OF YOU.

Tragic Jessica Simpson news

I know, I know, Jessica Simpson's not country and the majority of you seem to hate her with a passion, but this story is so extremely sad that I felt the urge to pass it on anyway. 

Jessica's dog Daisy, who has for the last few years been Jessica's constant companion and very often photographed accompanying Jessica around town, has been snatched by a coyote while Jessica watched.  

She wrote on her Twitter yesterday...My heart is broken because a coyote took my precious Daisy right in front of our eyes. HORROR! We are searching. Hoping. Please help!

No matter how you feel about Jessica Simpson, this is an awful, horrible story.  I hope for her sake she finds her little Daisy, but then on the other hand I kind of hope she doesn't find her since a Malti-Poo isn't much of a match for a nasty old coyote. 

 

I knew it was too good to be true, Kenny denies the Jessica rumors

Ahhh, Kenny Chesney and Jessica Simpson, a match made in blogger heaven and much more fun than a Kenny Chesney/Renée Zellweger marriage. Yes, I'm 100% aware that the source was Star Magazine and far more likely to be untrue than true, but still, it was fun while it lasted.

Well instead of letting us have fun for a few days, Kenny ran to People Magazine to set the record straight. 

Party pooper.

Story is the picture in Star Magazine is real and was taken on July 4th at a party at Chesney's friend's (Sean Payton, coach of the New Orleans Saints) house and everything was innocent and just a guy and a girl talking.  

"Tony's a friend, and I wouldn't flirt with a buddy's girlfriend," Chesney tells PEOPLE. "More importantly, Jessica was just being sweet and there was nothing else to it. It's not funny. There were no problems. Everybody got along great. After the party, everybody went their own way and nobody thought anything more about it. Period. End of story."

"If a girl and her boyfriend can't go to someone's house for a Fourth of July party and talk to the other guests without it turning into a big nightmare ... , then I feel really sorry for Jessica and Tony, who're both really nice people," Chesney says. "I wonder if I wasn't famous if anyone would even care. But the fact of the matter is I talked to a bunch of guests, hung out, had a good time."

I completely agree that a celebrity should be able to hang out with someone of the opposite sex without it being blown up into "they're dating" or a "hot hookup," but come on, a blogger can always hope for a juicy dating story. 

OMG! I knew there was a reason I was talking about Jessica Simpson this morning

Ha!  And you all thought I was having an acid trip or something when I did a post about Jessica this morning.  Turns out I was just a little ahead of myself.  Seems Star Magazine thinks Jessica Simpson and Kenny Chesney are now an item.

LOL.  You can't make this stuff up people.

Hey, the girl gives away $100,000 boats for birthdays, who wouldn't want to date her?

Jessica angers more people with her indian comment than I did with mine

Oh Jessica Simpson, she's not a country singer anymore (or ever or whatever) but I still occasionally get the urge to talk about her.  She's like my own personal soap opera.  Days of Our Lives - Jessica Simpson - it's all the same to me.

The latest episode of Days of Jessica Simpson involves Tony Romo breaking up with her a day before her birthday.  Then he put a sign up at the guard station of his gated community ordering the security guards to under no circumstances let her in.  She also spent like $19,000 to overnight her belongings from his house to California.  Geez, I would have done it for her for like $18,500. 

Well the newest Jessica flub has to do with a little comment she made about a gift she had given Tony for his birthday...a $100,000 boat.  She gave him a boat and he gave her a breakup - sounds fair.

Anyway, the latest comment was made when Jessica was asked if she was going to take the boat back.  She said she wasn't going to take it back because she was no "Indian Giver" (video here)  You guessed it, people jumped on her for using the childhood saying (because the rest of the world is so perfect you know).  I feel bad for her because I recently had my very own Native American dustup.  I feel so close to Jessica right now.  Be strong girl. 

Reality TV gets the Mindy and Jessica treatment

 

Cover your ears and eyes and go lalalalalalalala if you don't want to hear news of Jessica Simpson or Mindy McCready. 

First off is Mindy.  Contact Music is reporting that little Miss McCready is heading to rehab - Celebrity Rehab that is.  The troubled singer will be joining the cast of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" this season where she'll tackle her addiction demons for entertainment and ratings.

Woohoo.  I guess nothing else has worked, maybe this will do the trick.

Jessica Simpson, on the other hand, is going a slightly different route.

Us Weekly is reporting that Jessica is using her experience with body drama to create a new reality series that she's currently shopping around.  She's been pitching the show to different television networks that will deal with "society's scrutiny of women's bodies."

The premise of the program, titled The Price of Beauty: "She and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why," says a source.

I've never watched Celebrity Rehab and probably wont now that Mindy's joining the cast.  Jessica's reality show, though, sounds interesting.  In any case, I suppose if you can't make it singing country, you've gotta pay the bills somehow. 

Dolly to bankroll Jessica's next album?

 

Dolly Parton is perhaps the nicest lady in country music so this story does't surprise me in the least if it's true.  Of course, she's also one savvy business woman so in that aspect this story would surprise me.  Being that it's from the National Enquirer (May 25th print edition Via Cele/bitchy) I guess you have to take that into account. 

According to the rag mag, Dolly Parton wants to take Jessica Simpson under her wing and help her with her next album.  And when I say help her with her album I mean pay for it. 

After Jessica’s debut country CD tanked, Dolly personally offered to bankroll Jess’ second country album on her label, Dolly Records, sources say.

“Dolly sees a lot of herself in Jessica. Her personal life has been the focal point of unwanted attention, and like Jessica, she’s had to battle her own doubts and demons,” a friend divulged.

“But Dolly is a pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps kind of gal, and she’s tried to instill some of that in Jessica.”

Back in 2003, Jessica’s pop album “In this Skin” sold a whopping 5 million copies…. [she] tried to recapture that glory by courting a country crowd, but her CD “Do You Know” sold fewer than 200,000 copies, and her record label Sony Nashville dumped her…

Despite all [of Jessica's problems performing] Dolly was quick to defend her.

“I think every entertainer’s had nights when things go wrong,” the 63-year-old music legend declared on CNN’s “Larry King Live.”

“But I know that Jessica is a good girl. She’s beautiful to me. I’ve never been around a person any sweeter in my life.”

So will we be seeing another Jessica Simpson country album made possible by Dolly?  I guess that remains to be seen. 

Getting away from country does a body good

Yeah, yeah, Jessica Simpson's been dropped by her label and will probably fade into the fog of country obscurity like a bad dream, but since I've gotten several emails pointing out that she's on the cover of Vanity Fair I figured I'd go ahead and mention it.

Yep, that was my attempt at a joke.  Anyway, the article is actually a very interesting read with some beautiful pictures.  Amazing what stepping away from the tabloids and media spotlight for a while will do for a person - Jessica looks great!  The article talks about everything from Jessica's birth and early life to her failures and what she has planned for the future.  She doesn't really touch on what her future musical plans are which is probably for the best since sometimes what you say can come back to bite you in the behind.  She does have some words of wisdom, though, “There will always be another opportunity,” she says, “another door to walk through.”

Bucking the trend, Dolly Parton cares that Jessica was dropped from her label

Dolly Parton worked with Jessica Simpson on Simpson's country album and genuinely seemed sad to hear that Jessica was no longer with her country label.  But she still appears to have high hopes.  She tells Us Mag...

"I think that's sad because she is a fabulous singer," Parton -- who collaborated with Simpson on the star's country debut album, Did You Know -- told Us. "They dropped me from the label too, but I just started my own label. So maybe you'll get Jessica Records next?"

Anyone out there hoping Jess will start her own record label?  Now quit laughing, I was being serious.

And yes, I'm aware that the picture above may just be the worst picture ever taken of Jessica and Dolly.  It seriously looks like a Dolly and Jessica male impersonators.  But it made me laugh so it stays. 

Now that's what I call a sour puss

Wow, vacation has certainly not agreed with Jessica.  She looks downright tired and wore out. 

How can anyone be unhappy with such a cheerful 60s dress and oversized yellow purse?  Just seems such a shame to let all that cheer go to waste.
