More of Steve Martin at the Opry

N526709622_2698561_500916

Got an email from Kandice who was lucky enough to visit the Opry this weekend when Steve Martin was there.  She got some absolutely beautiful shots.

Thought you'd enjoy these. Just a few of my shots from Steve Martin @ the Opry this past Saturday. He was AMAZING!!! He was also a bit nervous to be playing 'THE OPRY' which I thought was as cute as could be. I can't ever remember a time in my life that I didn't NOT no who Steve Martin was so I guess from that I just feel invested in the guy but I was really, really proud of him. He took it extremely serious and did such a fantastic job. That guy can play the soup out of the banjo!

Thank you so much Kandice.  Check out all her pictures here.

My only question is....why does he look constipated?

SteveMartin_fullsize

I love Steve Martin.  Always have.  Always will.

Well the original Steve-O made his Grand Ole Opry debut Saturday "in front of a  sold-out crowd and was greeted with a standing ovation."

Seems everyone loves Steve Martin.  He performed songs from his first music album, The Crow – New Songs for the Five-String Banjo, and had help from John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), with Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Stuart Duncan, Tim O’Brien, and others.

Sounds like a great night for Steve.  So why in the world is it that every picture I've seen he looks constipated?  Is that his serious game face?  Never thought I'd have to suggest to Steve Martin to lighten up.

The newest Opry members-to-be

MGentry_fullsize

Montgomery Gentry thought they were just at the Opry to perform tonight.  Boy were they wrong.

Charlie Daniels surprised the duo Tuesday by inviting them to join the Grand Ole Opry.  Of course they accepted and they will be formally inducted June 23.

Opry General Manager Pete Fisher says the duo have deep respect for the long-running country music show and its legacy.

Congrats to the guys!  They definitely deserve the honor.

Full press release after the jump...

I'm such a tool...Rascal Flatts edition

Rascal Flatts Hollo-2265 4-18-09

I'm starting to believe that the PR people are onto my shtick here.  It appears that they've figured out that the quickest way to get their artist(s) put on the site is to send big pictures.  I'm a picture freak and love to post bright, shiny, posed pics.

I don't care if your famous or not, picture=post.  Simple as that.

Like I said, I'm a tool.  Here's the latest example - Rascal Flatts at the Opry this weekend.  Here's the press release that came with the pics.

Nashville, TN - (April 2 0, 2009) – Seven-time ACM Vocal Group of The Year winners Rascal Flatts celebrated the success of their new #1 album Unstoppablewith a sold-out performance at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night. During the appearance, the group performed #1 single “Here Comes Goodbye.”

Wow, slow news day.  Guess I'll do a little email cleaning again.  From a press release...

Last night at the Tuesday Night Opry, country sensation Taylor Swift brought the sold-out crowd to its feet for her performance.

This weekend’s Opry line-up includes 7-time ACM Group of the Year Rascal Flatts on Saturday evening plus the debut of Broken Bow Records recording artist Dean Brody and the return of Capitol Records’ Darius Rucker on Friday evening.  A complete line-up is available at opry.com.

Steve Martin brings his banjo and buddies to the Opry

Steve and banjo

Steve Martin will be making his Grand Ole Opry debut May 30 and he's bringing some good friends with him.

Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Stuart Duncan, Tim O'Brien and John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will all be on hand to mark the occasion.  Martin will be performing music from his album, "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo."

I have a strong suspicion that's going to be one fun performance to watch.

Probably my favorite picture of the day.  Charlie Daniels and Craig Morgan smile big for the camera backstage at the Grand Ole Opry where both men were on hand to perform Friday, March 13.
