Gloriana perform one of the coolest gigs ever....on board the USS Abraham Lincoln

If I was famous and was going to perform for the troops, this is the tour I would want to do....all aircraft carriers.  I mean how cool is this?

From Gloriana's YouTube page...

We are currently on an overseas tour performing for the troops. This was one of our stops. Thanks so much to everyone who made this tour happen and the USS Abraham Lincoln for making this awesome video!

Gloriana Gets sp[OIL]ed

  Glorianasp[oil]ed                                                                                        Photo by Kevin White

The latest country act to get sp[OIL]ed is none other than Gloriana.  Gloriana has joined the sp[OIL]ed Campaign to raise awareness and much-needed funds for industries affected by the Gulf Oil Spill.

Group member Tom Gossin revealed on the band's web site, "We are proud to be a part of this campaign to try and help out the workers and wildlife affected by the oil spill.  The possible long-term effects could be detrimental. It's important that we continue to aid Louisiana's recovery."

Other country artists to get sp[OIL]ed include Colt Ford, Sammy Kershaw, Zac Brown Band, Wade Hayes, Ashton Shepherd, Ty Herndon, and Kellie Pickler.

You can read more about the sp[OIL]ed Campaign in a previous post here.

Hello, who brought the gator?

350x

Okay, the description of this photo is definitely missing something...Luke Bryan (center) with Tom Gossin and Mike Gossin of Gloriana at the 2010 CMT Music Awards after party at the Hutton Hotel on June 9, 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Is there a reason why the alligator wasn't mentioned?  I mean seriously, I'm far more interested in why the heck there was an alligator at an awards show after party than who is actually in the picture.

I'm kind of starting to worry about that ink on Taylor's hands

1868038_height370_width560

I'm beginning to worry a bit about Taylor and her #13 she always has on her hand.  Has she chosen an ink that has been tested for long-term use on humans?  Is she slowly poisoning herself with n-propanol, n-butanol, diacetone alcohol, xylene, and cresol(those are ingredients in Sharpie Markers...I Googled)?

Let's just hope Taylor is taking the proper precautions against ink poisoning.

And speaking of Taylor, Metromix Denver has a wonderful bunch of pictures from her, Kellie, and Gloriana's two-day concert run in Denver last week.  Check them all out here.

Have I ever told you that I'm easily bought?

Gloriana

You all have probably discovered in the two years that I've been doing this blog that I'm not a huge awards show fan.  The only part of the shows that excite me is the red carpet and how everyone looks.  I'm not a fashion nut, I just like to see how purdy everyone looks.  I'm also always excited for the artists who win because they're so excited and that's contagious, but I honestly could care less about the awards shows for the most part.  That's probably why I spend so little time talking about them.

That being said, I do enjoy an act who does something special to try and get votes (Luke Bryan in a leotard for example)...especially when that something special involves me.

I'm not proud, I will totally take bribes.

Well in case you haven't heard, voting for this year's ACM Awards (which air April 18th on CBS) is currently taking place and you can have your say at http://www.voteacm.com.  But before you vote, check out this video Gloriana sent my way.  They're up for Top New Artist and I say vote for them!

Like I said, I totally take bribes.

More country Olympics news

2009 American Music Awards - Press Room

We've of course heard about Rascal Flatts' song Unstoppable being chosen as the Olympic theme song this year (People.com has the exclusive first look at the video here), but now comes word of another country group getting Olympified - or is that the Olympics getting countrified?

Gloriana has recorded a new song called The World is Ours Tonight which will be featured on the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack for the Winter Olympics.  The soundtrack is available now for purchase on iTuneswith proceeds from the purchases through February 28th going to benefit Team USA.

Here's a fan made video of the song.

Update:  Just found out that Sugarland also recorded a new song for the Team USA Soundtrack.

Gloriana CD review, better late than never

Gloriana-cd

How funny, I have CD reviews sitting in my email that I totally spaced off posting.  So here's Gloriana's debut CD review by Gab reviewer Brandi.

Tim and Mike Gossin, Rachel Reinert, and Cheyenne Kimball........these are the talented musicians who make up the band, "Gloriana". Performing and perfecting their musical talent is something that each member has spent a long time doing. I'll not bore you with all the details, lets just say that one member started taking lessons at age 5, and another member had a recording deal at age 15. However, I'm not here to write about each individuals talent or path to stardom. I am here to review their CD. I have to say, I've heard better debut CD's before. I think after knowing that their first release (which I love, by the way) "Wild At Heart" did so well on the country charts, I expected the entire CD to follow suit. It didn't, and here is why. They have a saying on music row "it all starts with a song", something songwriters know all to well. The CD had very poor song choices. Most were way too long, or the lyrics were way too complicated. For example, "Cry on Command" is all about how women can cry whenever they want to, and the lyrics never really say anything else. "Come and Save Me" has to be my favorite track on the entire CD. The raw emotion of the vocal performance is true country. If I had to rate the CD, I'd give it a "C". My personal take on it is that the record company found a great band, with amazing vocal harmonies, and musical talent and said "hey lets hurry up and get them in the studio with whatever we got". Do I think they have potential? "YES", for sure. I can only hope that the band stay together long enough to cut a second album, and take the time to really choose the songs carefully. I have a feeling that if they relied more on what their personal taste and what their musical abilities are it would lead them to record a great album, instead of what the record executives think would make a hit. They could really go a long way in the business. Oh and one more thing....I have seen them perform live. The band has great chemistry on stage, and are so comfortable with their music and with each other. That can be rare with a newly formed band. So with that in mind, I have no doubt they have what it takes. I hope they do well in the future.
