David Nail sets tour dates for coming months

David Nail tour
David Nail is heading out on tour this fall. Check out all the details from his website:

Having spent the last two years on tour with Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Billy Currington and Gavin DeGraw, David Nail understands working the big rooms – but there’s still nothing he enjoys more than a packed club where the fans have come to hear the Grammy-nominated vocalist go deep into his own music. Sept. 6 at Cincinnati’s Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, the Kennett, Missourian kicks off a fall tour that focuses on making the music as intimate as possible for as many fans who want to come.

“I’ve been blessed with some pretty great songs, and you just can’t get them all in during a shorter set,” says the son of a high school band director. “The great thing about playing your own shows, you can play all the music you want to – and a lot of the great album cuts get to be heard, which is a lot of times what fans tell me they like the best.”

David Nail to release EP '1979' featuring wildly popular cover of Adele's 'Someone Like You' (from the mailbag)

David Nail 1979
What a great idea this is.....

David Nail’s pre-show warm-up on Adele’s “Someone Like You” inspired the Kennett, Missourian to create a video for the people asking how to experience his version. With response to the YouTube version ranging from Blair Garner airing the YouTube stream on his nationally syndicated all night radio show “After Midnight” to coverage on New York City’s pop powerhouse 92Q and now CMT adding the clip to their CMT Pure channel, it became obvious this was something music lovers wanted to hear.

On July 17, MCA Nashville will release 1979, a three song EP that includes “Someone Like You,” as well as “The Sound of a Million Dreams” and “Half Mile Hill,” a track from TSOAMD. Available for download at the iTunes store,  this exclusive ep offers a more intimate view of the Grammy-nominated vocalist’s ability as a singer – and showcases the song that’s become one of the most buzzed about, but hard to find.

“It’s hard to believe the life that ‘Someone Like You’ has taken on,” Nail says. “It’s proof that people hunger for great songs – and they are open to different interpretations of songs they love. I started singing it because it’s a great song to warm up with, and people who heard it liked it… and then, I guess, they told other people, who told other people.ith

No fan club party for David Nail this week so he's going to be crashing Mallary Hope's

Mallary Hope and David Nail
Everyone and their brother (and sister) is having fan club parties while so many of their fans will be in Nashville for CMA Fest.

Everyone, that is, except for David Nail who will be skipping the fan party in favor of a little dental work.

But fans never fear because he's got alternative plans.

On June 3, David tweeted:  Not able to have fan club party this week due to Rainey's eye surgery and some teeth work I gotta get done, so gonna crash @mallaryhope 's!

Always good to have alternative plans, that's for sure.

If you're curious, Mallary's fan club party will be held Thursday, June 7th, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Puckett’s Restaurant in Nashville.

David will also be performing tonight for museum members at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's to kick off their Hot Nights at the Hall Summer Concert Series. More info here.

David Nail's cover of Adele's "Someone Like You" reminds me why I love country singers

I've been lazy today, bad lazy.  I don't know why I do that, and so often too.  I hate it.  I sit at the computer and find 100 stories to write about and then I end up going and watching YouTube videos of cats and kids and drunk squirrels. And read Gawker and MSNBC and TMZ.

Seriously, I'm a procrastinator with a lazy bone.  No lie, I've been at my computer since 5 this morning and I've posted exactly 0 posts.  Well except for this one now.

But you know what helps lazy procrastinators with too much time on their hands?

Stuff like this.

David Nail posted a video back on the 15th of him covering Adele's song Someone Like You.  Do you know what I've been doing for the last hour?  Listening to David Nail sing Someone Like You.

I can't stop.  I honestly cannot for the life of me stop listening.  So now that I've listened to the song like 47 times, I figured I needed to post this video for the two or three of you who might not have already heard it on the other blogs who have also posted it today.

The only thing that I hate about this song is that this cover was probably just a passion project for David and will never play on the radio.

This needs to play on the radio!

But no one listens to me so I'll just have to listen to it another 40 or so times to get it out of my system.

You've won a new spot in my heart, David Nail, and all you had to do was sing a British girl's heartbreak song. You have found my kryptonite.

Get "Unplugged" With David Nail Tuesday March 13th at a "Barbershop"?

When you envision a barbershop maybe Floyd's Place from The Andy Griffith show comes to mind, or maybe even scenes from the movie "BarberShop," but as a place to have a concert?  Not anything I would have ever thought of, yet this session was recorded in an old-school barbershop in New York City.

Grammy nominated artist David Nail will be the first country act to get "unplugged" at Baeblemusic.com's Baeble Sessions series.  Baeblemusic.com is an online destination for live shows, video and commentary from the indie music scene. Founded in 2006, Baeblemusic has a library of exclusive concerts, in-house sessions, and interviews with artists with free online streaming.  http://www.baeblemusic.com/

David Nail was an easy choice for the Baeble Sessions. They felt there was something about David's honesty that went beyond being stuck in just one genre, place or time. With a stripped down band, the performances of "That's How I'll Remember You", his first #1 single "Let It Rain" and his current single "The Sound of A Million Dreams", will be intertwined with interview footage that shares tales of Nail going hungry, to using his lunch money to buy records and the thrill of singing at Game 7 of the World Series. (A game his St Louis Cardinals won!!)

David Nail is as intense and real as they come when he gives his all at every concert and on both of his albums, "I'm About To Come Alive" and "The Sound of a Million Dreams."  You see this young man as someone who truly loves what he does and always make sure his fans (Nail_Nation) knows how much they are appreciated and have made his dreams come true. Congratulations on being the first country artist to "step into the Barber shop" just to sing & not get a shave and a cut for two bits.

KUZZ Presents David Nail in Debut Performance at Buck Owens Crystal Palace

Academy of Country Awards nominee for Radio Station of the Year in the Medium market, and recent NAB Crystal Heritage Award winning KUZZ 107.9 in Bakersfield, CA is proud to present Missouri native David Nail for a SOLD-OUT show at Buck Owens Crystal Palace, February 11, 2012. The show will be the debut performance for David at the renowned home of Buck Owens Crystal Palace.

In a recent conversation with KUZZ on-air personality Toni-Marie she stated, "We are thrilled. David's show sold-out in two days and anytime we can put an artist like this in front at Buck's house, everyone wins. David's recent #1 is just a start of more to come for this artist." David is no stranger either in his noted appreciation for all those who have helped along the way in his over 10 year career. Toni-Marie is mentioned on the CD insert of his latest release, "Sound of a Million Dreams" and was blown away by this gesture. "I am a big fan of David's and just feel it is my job to spread the good word. I have never literally heard an angel sing, but in my Heaven the boy angels sound like David Nail."

It seems David did not truly hit his full stride till the release of his debut album, "I'm About To Come Alive" in 2009, which brought us the Top-Ten and ACM nominated hit, "Red Light" and the Grammy nominated song for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, "Turning Home."

As quoted on David's web site, "Imagery is so much a part of what draws me to the songs I record. I pick songs with cities in their lyrics or the names of girls because I want you to know exactly where I'm coming from and what I'll be talking about. I love painting those pictures. I've always felt that an album's title was the most important thing besides the music. It automatically gives someone an idea of what to expect. If you had to tell a story of me to this point in my career, "The Sound of a Million Dreams really sums it up." http://www.davidnail.com/bio.aspx

David's voice is incomparable; it is smooth, full of strong emotions and he is in total control of this vocal instrument knowing when to let it out at full tilt or pulling the reins back in. He has recently earned his first #1 single, "Let It Rain", a song about one of the main-stays in country music; a spouse who seeks forgiveness for "the one night I forgot to wear that ring.". The single made history as the longest rising #1 since the inception of the country radio charts. This long trek truly showed the determination of his fans in "Nail-Nation" who worked tirelessly to keep the song out there. "The Sound of a Million Dreams" will be the next release off his sophmore album of the same name.

“There are so many people to thank, so many people who believed and helped and fought,” Nail said. “There have been so many moments when it felt like it would all fall apart, but people kept in there with us. They didn’t want to give up, either, and that’s maybe the mark of making a difference with a song or an album: when people care enough to not just move on. Right now, I feel like the luckiest man in the world.” (On the day of the ASCAP celebration for the #1 of "Let It Rain") http://www.davidnail.com/news_d.aspx?nid=7366

David played a show in Southern California a few years back, and at that time I told my friends, "You need to watch this guy, he is going to be someone to contend with." I am proud to say now that many friends have said, "You were right", and you know I love saying, "I told you so." The show at Bucks will be the first of many of David's Western swing. He will be with Martina McBride on 2/14at NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live, 2/15 at the historic Troubadour in West Hollywood, 2/16at Club Rodeo in San Jose, 2/17 at The Davis Graduate in Davis, and rounding it off with a show in Las Vegas on 2/18 at Santa Fe Station.

David Nail's music has made me "Come Alive" and aware of what a talented and gifted artist this young man truly is. I am attending three of the shows out West and wishing I could do them all. It will be a true honor to see him on the stage at the Crystal Palace on the 11th; that is a star making step when you have arrived in this house that is a true tribute to Buck Owens. Thanks again to KUZZ in Bakersfield for giving me this opportunity to catch a show of this importance.

Your ACM Favorite New Artist of the Year Is? Let Your Vote Count !! Starting Jan 16th

Early last week the date was announced for the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards night to be held April 1st in Las Vegas.  Now let all the games, along with the pomp & circumstance begin.  There is the show itself, The Fan Jam during the show & The All Star Party after the show.  Yet to be announced is the activity, if any this year, of FREE concerts on Freemont Street on Friday & Saturday nights.

http://www.acmcountry.com/home/index.php

But the first thing you are asked to do before all of this is to vote.  No not a political vote, but one that will determine the ACM New Artist of the Year.  This year the selection is all male with the exception of Shawna Thompson, one half of the husband & wife duo, Thompson Square.  And I can honestly say I am familiar with all of the nominees, & have heard some of them live.

All of the nominees have had a good year, some more than the others, but this does not take away from the vast talent that is in this class of 2011 New Artists.  David Nail has been around for a long time but has finally hit a stride that will not loose steam anytime soon.  Scotty McCreary is definitely a new comer fresh off his American Idol win.  Mixed in between the old & the real new is a great "cast of characters" such as JT Hodges, Justin Moore & Hunter Hayes that deserve this recognition and if anyone of them is your favorite they need your vote.

http://www.gactv.com/gac/pac_ctnt/text/0,,GAC_26058_84999,00.html

Starting January 16th the first round voting begins to determine the final three, ending January 30th.  Final round voting begins on March 16th & ends on April 1st with the winner being announced live during the show. As part of this partnership, GAC will air several specials, including a show featuring the top eight semi-finalists, as well as a show highlighting the final nominees who will compete for the title.  The first airing of the "ACM Showcase" airs January 16th through the 30th when first round voting ends.  Following this will be the GAC "ACM New Artist of the Year" special with the three finalists, airing March 19th through April 1st.

You already know your favorite choice, so do not hesitate to make your vote count.  I already know who my pick is, hope he makes the trip to the finals & wins.

Country Weekly Wants You To Vote for Country's Sexiest Man

SEXY

Definition of SEXY 1 : sexually suggestive or stimulating : erotic 2 : generally attractive or interesting : appealing

Country Weekly has given us the opportunity to select who we think is Country Music's Most Sexiest Man.  There are just too many good choices to make the job easy enough to pick JUST ONE.  What do we base sexy on when looking at these artists?  Do we base it on the above definitions?  Or do we look at a smile, the eyes, the "swagger", the "look" or just the over all package?  Are the things some of these artists do for charities etc add into the equation?  These men all have something about them that put them on this list & it is not all about looks alone. Is there anyone that we think was left out?

Trace Adkins is first on this list. Now I would put Trace in the first defintion of sexy due to his "swagger" & sexy dances at his shows.  But I would also put him in part two of the definition because I find him interesting and I love his style of humor.

Next up is the young man Jason Aldean.  His style of country music has put him on top with number #1's and a sold out tour this year.  He also has a "swagger" of sorts, and puts on a great show.  That appeals to me, of course those tight jeans & smile don't hurt either.

The choices continue on with an array of very different artists but yet some have the same qualities that make them sexy.  Jamey Johnson to me does not portray sexy that much in his looks as he does through his music.  He has soulful eyes that tell many stories without saying a word.  Jake Owen and Troy Gentry have smiles that go on for miles, David Nail and Billy Currington have "get lost in them" eyes, Gary Allan has a rugged look that many find sexy, Jack Ingram is a true country troubadour that draws you in with his Texas charm and down to earth attitudes.

If you want to add the "get better looking with age" thought process then Toby Keith, George Strait and Alan Jackson would definitely be included there.  Do the new "youngsters" like Justin Moore, Casey James, Eastin Corbin, Brantley Gilbert or Scotty McCreary have yet to grow into their sexy ways or are they already there?  One artist who was left out this year was Phil Vassar.  I find this to be a big over sight, a lack of good judgement if you will.  Phil is a great package of entertainment with great concerts, and a down to earth quality that I appreciate.  Spend some time with him or take in a show and you will get what I mean. No Chuck Wickes or Vince Gill either, two more over sights.

Yes, it is a tough decision to pick just one.  Maybe they should have given us at least three then they can narrow it down huh?  There is a lot to take into consideration.  Give it some thought and give everyone a fair shake., there is more to these guys then meets the eye.  Nope I will not tell you my choice, but I judged him on the entire package.  Good luck.

David Nail Fan Appreciation Party Clips

David Nail's Fan Appreciation Party took place today at 1:30 p.m. at the Tin Roof in Nashville. Nail has always been a fan of Tin Roof, playing several times at the Nashville location throughout his career and other locations across Tennessee and Kentucky. He must be a fan of their food too, commenting on Twitter earlier "@davidnail I can almost taste the Tuna Melt." Personally, I always go for the Sunny Quesadilla...yummy!

Anyways, check out a couple video clips from the party today. Nail invited songwrighters on stage with him to perform Turning Home and Red Light. Scooter Carusoe joins on Turning Home and Jonathan Singleton joins on Red Light.
