David Allan Coe hospitalized after running red light and getting hit by semi truck

I'm starting to think it might be a good idea for country stars and their band members to stay at least 100 feet away from any motorized vehicles because there's been far too many of them getting into accidents lately.

Fortunately, this one doesn't involve anyone dying.

Country bad boy, David Allan Coe, has been hospitalized in Ocala, Florida after allegedly running a red light and being hit by a semi truck.

Ocala Police Department Lt. Corey Taylor told ABC Action News this morning that the singer/songwriter was traveling in a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban around 1:30 a.m. when he approached an intersection, but for some reason failed to stop at a red light. That's when truck driver, Robert Johnson, from California hit Coe's vehicle.

Coe's Suburban was sent into a parking lot while Johnson's tractor trailer overturned.

Coe, Johnson, and Johnson's passenger, Lisa Mead, were all sent to local hospitals. Coe had to be removed from his car by firefighters with the Jaws of Life.

Coe has initially been found at fault and was issued a ticket. All three accident victims are said to be suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Emmylou Harris being investigated for hit and run

Emmylou Harris YouTube
The gray-haired beauty that is Emmylou Harris is unfortunately in a bit of trouble in California.

According to TMZ, back in October someone allegedly hit a car on the Los Angeles freeway and then took off. Now we've learned that the someone being investigated is none other than Emmylou Harris.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... the alleged incident occurred on October 1 at around 10:00 PM.  They say Emmylou was driving a rental car on the 405 Freeway when she struck a car and took off without stopping or exchanging info.

We're told the CHP opened a hit and run investigation after the other driver filed a report.  The investigation is now complete and we're told the file was sent to the D.A., who will decide if the country legend should be prosecuted.

Luckily no one was injured in the accident and Emmylou's rep says it was just "minor traffic accident," adding "she unintentionally rubbed bumpers with another vehicle," something that, "happens everyday on the 405."

Which is probably true, but it's still against the law to take off without exchanging info anytime property damage occurs. Emmylou has apparently turned the matter over to her insurance company.

Since no one was hurt it seems kind of silly to be talking about prosecution, but I guess breaking the law is breaking the law no matter how minor the incident.

So does this mean I should stop playing bumper tag with people who piss me off in traffic? Nahhhh.

Sammy Kershaw's bus involved in an accident (from the mailbag)

This past weekend, Sammy Kershaw, his band and crew were involved in a roadway accident while on tour in Texas.

On Friday night after hitting the road following a concert in Nocona, Texas, Kershaw’s bus was struck by another passenger vehicle. The bus was impacted at a high speed, causing major damage, leaving the vehicle inoperable. The driver of the vehicle that struck Kershaw’s bus was taken to hospital with injuries. Kershaw, his band and crew were shaken and sore but not seriously injured.

“My guys and I are a little sore today… the third day is always the worst,” says Kershaw. “Eleven people were involved in the accident and no one was killed. It could have gone the other way. Buses and cars can be replaced but people can’t. I’m so thankful that the other driver, my band and crew are all still here. We had a guardian angel."

Kershaw has not canceled any concerts and will use alternate means of transportation until his bus is repaired.

Taylor Swift pulls an Amanda Bynes...hits two cars in one day

Taylor-Swift-Rolling-Stone
Okay, technically Taylor hit one car and the other car hit her car so we're not really bordering on Amanda Bynes territory here, but it was two minor fender benders in one day which is kind of funny.

Recently Taylor was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and when the magazine sent a reporter to interview Taylor, they decided to go for a ride with Taylor driving. That's when Taylor's first accident happened.  According to Ace Showbiz, Taylor somehow managed to back into her bass player's car.

The 22-year-old country music cutie accidentally hit a parked car and completely freaked out. "Oh my God!" she repeatedly said.

It turned out the car belonged to her bass player. "I'm gonna pay for it, I promise! I'm good for it!" she added. "Amos, I'm so sorry. I freaked out 'cause I went the wrong way and he was gonna think I'm a bad driver and then I backed into another car. This is the worst interview he's ever had, already!"

The girlfriend of Conor Kennedy continued, "I cannot believe there was a car behind me. I thought that- because I could only see the security car, and Amos' car was so low and I didn't look in the back camera and I was so sure no one was behind me."

As if hitting a parked car wasn't bad enough, later in the day a Corvette sideswiped her car.

"OK, that was my life flashing before my eyes," Taylor was quoted as saying. "What is this day? This is some strange alternate reality where things just go wrong a lot. That was the second time today! I'm going to have a nervous breakdown!"

Wow, I bet that interviewer will rethink the whole interviewing-while-driving thing in the future.

Wynonna Judd's husband loses leg after motorcycle accident

Wynonna Cactus
Wow, this is certainly a lot worse than I initially thought it was.

TMZ is reporting that following his motorcycle accident on Saturday in South Dakota, Wynonna Judd's husband Michael Scott "Cactus" Moser's leg was amputated.

Judd's rep tells us ... Michael Scott Moser "severed" his leg in the crash ... and when he was transported to a hospital in Rapid City, SD doctors determined it was necessary to amputate the leg above the knee.

The rep also says Moser had to undergo surgery on his hand, which is of particular concern because he is the drummer in Judd's band.

Judd's rep tells us, "Judd and Moser appreciate all of the quick medical and police responders as well as the hospital staff and well-wishes from family, friends and fans."

Wynonna understandably has postponed her concerts this week in Canada.

Wynonna Judd's husband injured in scary Saturday afternoon motorcycle accident

Wy and cactusPhoto via LA Times Blog

Wow, this is scary.

According to the Rapid City Journal (via TMZ), Wynonna Judd and her new husband, Michael Scott "Cactus" Moser, were riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles together in South Dakota on Saturday when Moser somehow drifted out of his lane, across a center divider, and hit the driver's side door of a Chevy Malibu.

The accident happened near Hill City, SD. Wynonna was riding a seperate bike in front of Moser and was not injured. According to police, Moser's injuries were serious, but not life-threatening and he was airlifted by helicopter to Rapid City Regional Hospital.

The driver of the car that Moser smashed into, 59-year-old Michael Bruce, was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Wynonna cancelled her show Saturday night at Deadwood Mountain Grand Hotel & Casino. The only mention of what happened was on Wy's Facebook:

Due to unforeseen circumstances Wynonna’s show at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Hotel & Casino has been cancelled this evening. The show will be rescheduled at a later date. Please contact the venue for further information.

Sending out my wishes of a quick recovery to Wy and her lucky husband, Cactus.

Settlement rejected in Indiana State Fair stage collapse

Stage collapse(AP Photo/Darron Cummings)

Monday was the first anniversary of the devastating stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair and those injured and the families of those killed are still trying to agree to a settlement.

Two weeks ago, it was announced that a settlement had been reached between victims and the state and stage owner, but now that settlement has stalled after not enough victims came forward to accept the offer.

According to KansasCity.com, Mid-America Sound officials, owners of the stage, said that since only 51 of the 62 claimants in the lawsuit had come forward by the August 1 deadline, the company wouldn't be able to agree to the settlement.

The settlement would have protected Mid-America and the state of Indiana from further lawsuits.

Mid-America spokeswoman Myra Borshoff Cook released a statement saying "the minimum participation requirements" specified in the proposed settlement weren't met, although the company failed to say how many people were required in order to move forward with the proposed settlement.

Following the company's announcement this week, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller said that he would move forward with dispersing the $6 million that lawmakers had approved earlier this year for victims.

Hopefully a settlement can be reached soon so that victims and their families can finally put this tragedy behind them as much as possible.

Oops, Scotty McCreery takes a spill off the stage in New York

I have been waiting since last night for this video clip to finally show up.

Gotta love YouTube!

Last night on Twitter, Scotty McCreery mentioned that something had happened to him on stage.

Dagum @BradPaisley pranked me again.. he narrowed up the stage on me for my last song….. #MeetTheCrowdNight#ImOk

I had a bit of a suspicion that Scotty may have fallen off the stage but couldn't find video or anything.  I've kept my eyes open all day and finally there it was, a video of Scotty falling off stage last night in Bethel, New York while singing Travis Tritt's classic T.R.O.U.B.L.E.

If Scotty had gotten hurt it definitely wouldn't have been funny, but seeing how he jumped right back up on stage and kept on going, it's good for a chuckle.

Skip ahead to about the 8:15 mark to see the stumble.

It's okay Scotty, I have this post that features five videos of Dierks Bentley falling on and off stage. It seems a pretty common problem.

UPDATE:  Looks like Brad Paisley (who Scotty is currently touring with) wanted to make sure the up-and-coming star stayed safe so at Saturday's show Brad made the stage a bit easier for Scotty to stay on.

@BradPaisley wanted me to be extra catious tonight! Thanks Brad!pic.twitter.com/Yubrc7SO

Randy Travis involved in one-car crash -- arrested on suspicion of DWI

Randy travis
And the downward spiral continues.

It's being reported that Randy Travis was arrested last night for a suspected DWI after being involved in a one-car accident. From TMZ:

Country singer Randy Travis was arrested last night in Texas on suspicion of DWI after crashing his car, TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Randy was arrested around 11:59PM with minor cuts and bruises. He was also booked on a "retaliation and obstruction" charge ... a felony.

Randy's car was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Other details surrounding Randy's arrest are unclear. Randy is currently still in custody.

This will make two arrests for Randy this year. I sure hope this is a wakeup call and he gets help with whatever demons he's obviously dealing with. All I can say is thank God this was a one-car crash. It could have been so much worse.

Tracy Byrd and wife involved in car accident

Tracy ByrdPhoto via Tracy Byrd website

Well shoot, well wishes and safe driving vibes being sent out to Tracy Byrd and his wife who were involved in a car accident on Tuesday in Texas.

The Beaumont Enterprise states that the Watermelon Crawl singer and his wife were taken to the hospital after a woman pulled out in front of them, causing a collision.

Local country music singer Tracy Byrd and his wife went to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital Tuesday with non-life-threatening injuries after a woman pulled out in front of them in the northbound lanes of U.S. 69, according to DPS spokesperson Stephanie Davis.

Jolliette Capo of Silsbee, the woman driving the 2008 Toyota Avalon which was hit by Byrd's 2004 Excursion, was given a ticket for failure to yield right-of-way at a yield sign, Davis said. The collision occurred about 1:30 p.m.

"She (Capo) turned in front of him (Byrd) and he struck her," she said.

Capo also went to the hospital, and Davis said all three were conscious and aware.

"They were basically just shaken up," Davis said.

According to sources, Tracy suffered a broken foot.

Scary. Glad everyone's ok.

UPDATE: Here's a photo of Tracy's rig. You can view more here.
