Wanna have some fun driving?

I love Aaron Tippin, always have.  Unfortunately I don't hear him on the radio too often anymore which is just a shame really.  Well I was lucky enough to get Aaron's new CD In Overdrive last week.  It took me this long to get the darn thing back from my husband who said it was the perfect CD for driving fast and didn't want to give it back to me. 

Well I finally, FINALLY got it back this morning but only after threatening my hubby with no more clean underwear until I got the CD.  He relented. 

Anyway, my husband said it best when he said, "the CD's awesome, even though it's remakes. It would be better if I'd never heard the originals."  That's the problem with song remakes, you always compare them to the originals.  I honestly don't think it can be helped.  But Aaron did a really great job remaking old classic truckin' songs.  He just has the voice of a trucker.  Okay, actually he has the voice of Festus Haggin from Gunsmoke which sort of made me giggle a little.  I don't remember Aaron having such a nasally voice in years past, but it's okay because it worked. 

Giggling aside, I really enjoyed the whole CD, every last one of the songs.  He takes the songs, and with the exception of Drill Here, Drill Now (which is meant to be a serious song), seems to have a blast singing them.  The songs are fun to listen to and I have a feeling could give someone a bit of a leadfoot while driving (just ask my husband).  But then with a title like In Overdrive a bit of leadfoot should be expected I suppose.   

I wont go through all the songs to give you my take because that's just boring (to read and to write), but I will say that if you guys want a fun time in CD form, you should definitely pick this CD up.  You wont be disappointed.

Aaron Tippin's new CD due February 3

Aaron Tippin's new album is full of classic songs dedicated to the truckers of the world including Tippin's versions of “East Bound and Down,” “Six Days on the Road,” “Drivin’ My Life Away” and many others.

“I’ve had my heart set on doing this album for a long time,” Aaron says. “Now, with the current economic state, I’m reminded of the unsung heroes of the road, that legion of devoted Americans, some four million strong, who make their living in the trucking industry and hammer down, day after day. And I wanted to make this record for them.”

Aaron's new CD, In Overdrive, is set to be released February 3.

Aaron Tippin performs for the troops for Thanksgiving

Yep, I'll take some turkey and Tippin please.

If you were at Camp Liberty, Iraq yesterday you could have said that and had it actually happen.  Tippin performed a Thanksgiving Day concert for the troops.  Check out some more pics here.

Aaron Tippin might possibly have eaten cow manure

Ewww, he didn't really, but he said at one point he might have if it would have made him look better. 

Aaron says that when he was in his 20's and was a competitive bodybuilder he used spray tan and would go to the tanning bed and even take capsules to make himself look darker. 

Tippin says, "When you're in that mindset, you would eat cow manure if you thought it would make you look better." But on the bright side, he's proud of the fact that he was a "drug free athlete" and never took steroids. 

Mmmm, cow patty anyone?

Will we finally see some new music from Aaron Tippin?

I really like Aaron Tippin so it makes me happy to see that he's signed with a new record label.  He’s now on Stroudavarious Records, home of Darryl Worley.  Yay, I wonder how long before we something new from him.

SEPT. KICKED OFF WITH US WAITING OUT HURRICANE HANNA. ALTHOUGH IT KNOCKED US OUT OF ONE DAY WE FINALLY MADE TO BUSH GARDENS IN WILLIAMSBURG VA. AFTER GETTING EVERYTHING DRIED OUT WE HAD A GOOD SHOW.

THIS WEEK FOUND US IN BAY ST. LOUIS MS. AT THE HOLLYWOOD CASINO. 2 DAYS GAVE US 2 GREAT SHOWS. A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO THE CREW MANY OF WHOM WERE FROM OR HAD FAMILY IN THE PATH OF HURRICANE IKE. HOPE ALL IS WELL AND EVERYONE IS OK.
