That can't be natural -- Aaron Tippin edition

I got this picture in a press release.  I'm impressed.

On July 3rd Aaron Tippin will be celebrating his 54th birthday. Incidentally, that's also my brother-in-law's 44th (I think, shhhh) birthday.   

From the birthday email/sales pitch:

GAC gets ready to take the stars back to their McDonald's and grass mowing days

This could definitely be interesting.  

Recently Aaron Tippin was at the Cumberland Regional Airport to shoot an episode of a new GAC reality series called "Day Jobs" which will begin airing this fall.  The show will take various country stars back to the jobs they had before they hit it big.

"Would you like fries or salad with that, Ma'am?"

"It's really a celebration of the folks who do those jobs every day," said the show's executive producer Sarah Brock, who was at the airport with a small crew while filming Tippin's episode.

"We're trying to stay out of the way of the job. Sometimes when you see reality show shooting, it looks like a swarm of folks. We're really trying to let the artists do the job and work side-by-side with the coworker who does this job for a living every day. So far it's been a great experience. All the artists have been having a really good time, all the places we've shot have been really receptive and we felt good when we left, so it's been great."

Aaron Tippin was probably a little different than the average country star in that his day job before hitting it big was nearly as cool as being a big time star....he was an airplane pilot (in fact, he still has his pilot's license).  His "Day Jobs" episode will take fans behind the scenes of what it's like to be a pilot. 

Kinda better than waiting tables or answering phones like most stars end up doing waiting for their big break.

"Day Jobs" will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 14, on GAC.

Awww, sending out a happy congratulations to Aaron Tippin who became a first-time PawPaw last week. 

According to The Boot, Aaron's daughter, Charla Tippin Smith, and her pilot husband, Kenneth, welcomed a daughter named Lorelai Piper, on Saturday, November 13.

Congrats to Aaron and his expanding lineage. 

So I wonder what Aaron Tippin thinks about drilling here now

Just about a year and a half ago Aaron Tippin teamed up with Sarah Palin for a campaign called Drill Here, Drill Now which advocated locating our own domestic energy sources, mainly by drilling for oil on our own shores.

To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy challenges.

We, therefore, are petitioning the U.S. Congress to act immediately to lower gasoline prices (and diesel and other fuel prices) by authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries." Newt Gingrich

With the BP catastrophe we now face in the Gulf Coast, kind of makes you wonder what Aaron thinks about Drill Here, Drill Now these days, eh? 

I've actually emailed a few people to see if I could get a statement from Aaron to see if he still stands behind drilling on our own shores, but so far nothing's made it back into my email.  I'll let you know if I do hear anything.

Aaron Tippin does it for the war birds

Aaron Tippin is taking his love of all things aviation to new heights (pun completely intended) and has been named as the 2010 celebrity spokesperson for the Commemorative Air Force, an organization whose goal is to "acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft flown by all United States military services; to honor the service of those who fought in flight, and educate the  general public so that generations of Americans will understand and appreciate the historical value and support the contributions of military aviation in assuring our nation’s freedom."

For Aaron's part, he will make special appearances at Commemorative Air Force events across the country and will film and record a few public service announcements for the organization. 

“I am very excited about working with the CAF,” Tippin states. “As a son of a pilot, a pilot myself and patriot, the mission of the organization is especially important to me: acknowledging the history of this great nation and the service men and women who make our freedoms possible is stellar and I’m happy to champion the organization’s efforts.”

Old trucker, Aaron Tippin, joins Honky Tonk TV

Aaron Tippin sits down with Honky Tonk TV's Autumn Alexander and talks about his latest CD Overdrive, living healthy, and performs "Kiss This" and  "Where The Stars And Stripes And Eagles Fly." He even has a laugh at himself and an old picture.  Great stuff.

Aaron Tippin is a friend of the military and has been for a very long time, and now he's being honored for that long-lasting friendship. 

Friday, July 10, Aaron will be receiving the DAR (Daughter's of the American Revolution) Founders Medal for Patriotism for his outstanding dedication and service to American troops and their families.

Aaron will receive his well-deserved honor on National Defense Night (July 10) at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.—near the White House.
