After a country concert, it's not unusual to hear a rundown of all the arrests and tickets that came about during the show. It's a unique situation, however, when you hear of a police officer who was the one causing problems rather than preventing them.
David McDermott, a 24-year-old Pennsylvania police officer who only graduated from the academy in February of this year, is being investigated for assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and criminal mischief after causing all kinds of problems at the Jason Aldean concert in Scranton on Sunday.
According to reports, police were working in the parking lot during the concert when they were told about a fight. When they showed up, they came across a shirtless McDermott lying facedown surrounded by security guards. Allegedly, McDermott was walking around the parking lot calling people people offensive names and at one point falling into a vehicle that wasn't his. At one point, he ended up getting into a fight with a 31-year-old man who was barbecuing in the parking lot after McDermott called his wife a nasty name.
It doesn't sound like McDermott was arrested and he hasn't officially been charged yet, but police are planning to mail him a summons to answer for his criminal concert mischief. He's also been taken off the schedule of the Forty Fort and Ashley Police Deparments while the incident is investigated.
Incidentally, this is the same concert where a man was killed by an accused drunk driver while leaving the concert. Definitely not a good day in concert history.
