Keith Urban one step closer to getting an Oscar nomination

The other day I mentioned that Keith Urban's song For You that was written for the movie "Act Of Valor" was being submitted to be considered for an Oscar nomination in the Original Song category.

Now comes word that For You has made it through the eligibility determination and has been added to the official short list of songs that are in "contention for nominations in the Original Song category for the 85th Academy Awards."

Of course, the short list isn't really that short and contains 75 songs in total that are being considered for a nomination, but at least For You is still in the running. There are, however, bonus points for Keith because his song is the first in the alphabetical list.

Hey, the Universe makes no mistakes.

Check out the full list (and I mean full) of contenders here. The Academy Awards nominations will be announced live Thursday, Jan.10, while the awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Sunday, February 24, on ABC.
