It's been over three years since LeAnn Rimes was caught cheating on then husband Dean Sheremet with now husband Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn and Eddie have been seemingly happily married now for over a year so you'd think that the anger over the cheating would be waning. That doesn't seem to be the case, however.
On Wednesday afternoon, LeAnn got into a heated argument on Twitter with a fan(?) who doesn't seem ready to forgive LeAnn for her past indiscretions yet.
According to RadarOnline, Twitter user Laura James mentioned LeAnn in a Tweet, noting that she "cheated with Ed & broke up her marriage and his." LeAnn immediately tweeted back, "correction...we broke up our own marriages." She then tweeted, "people have nothing better to do than judge something they know nothing about."
"Well, then u better prove to others what u did was right by staying together so u can get ur fan base back. Otherwise the breakups & your marriage were all for nothing," James tweeted back, continuing with, "And u might not want to believe this but ur fans hate u & ur career is in the shi**er. while Ed smells like a rose through all of this! Hope ya have a prenup bc that is all he wanted is ur money. Good luck to you."
LeAnn responded back saying, "excuse me? I have nothing to "prove" we are happy and my fans are wonderful and no one is perfect. All I need to speak to about me and my sins is the good lord. Remember you can't break what's already broken. I'm not anything like what you read about. It's all lies and anything you've read about no matter who or where it comes from....well, let's just say its a game for so many to hurt others. Time to move on, everyone else has."
LeAnn must have regretted the angry exchange because by Wednesday evening all her angry tweets were gone, replaced with a retweet from a fan that said, "TRUE LOVE is not to be defended only celebrated."
I'm definitely with LeAnn on this one. I can understand fan anger and disgust at the time the cheating was actually news, but after three years it seems like people should just kind of let it go. People make mistakes, but all parties involved in this scandal have moved on and seem happy now, including LeAnn's ex who also remarried not too long ago and seems happy in his new life.
What do you think? Should LeAnn still be punished for something that happened so long ago that everyone involved seems to have gotten over?
