Earlier this month I had brought you the first image of the Zac Brown Band's album artwork for their upcoming "Uncaged" CD, and boy was it a doozy.
Well it turns out that the album artwork really IS a work of art and not just an out-there drawing by some unnamed person who was high on anesthesia after getting dental work done.
Frank and Zeus both left comments on my earlier post with the name and website of the artist -- Brandon Maldonado. The painting (?) on "Uncaged" is called Our Lady of Merciful Fate.
Kind of cool now that the initial shock and wonder is wearing off.
You can buy limited prints of similar artwork for $50 from the artist's website at BrandonMaldonado.com. "Uncaged" hits stores July 10th.

@Melanie....Thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining that connecting this artwork to The Day of the Dead festival. Honestly I feel so uch better knowing this. I am aware of TDDOTD, and some of their traditions. Relative to that, I can see that this is not offensive at all. I, too, was kind of concerned when I first saw the album cover;as I like the ZBB very much, but I love Mary. Now, I can see that this is actually a celebration of her;just from a different cultural view than my own, but still just as reverent:-) Thanks!!!! God bless.

Wow this in now way is anti catholic nor is it offensive. Most of those offended should educate themselves on Day of the Dead , its art, and what that symbolizes. These images are highly respectful and about remembering and honoring those that have passed

You don't have to be Catholic to be respectful. And since you are not Catholic you have no say in what is offensive to us or not.

Geez...talk about getting panties in a wad. I checked out the artist's website. The picture is part of a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) exhibition. It's a day that HONORS the dead...not mocks them. The painting is heavily influenced by the art representative of the holiday. It's a safe assumption that no mockery was intended. It think it's pretty cool looking. I would like to know how it's mocking anything myself. Relax people. How do you even know it's the Blessed Mother? It looks like a nun to me. But I'm not catholic so pardon my possible lack of knowledge.

LOL!!!!! I am laughing at the former two commenters. I guess I wonder how these people figured that ZBB was Catholic anyway??? Regardless, how is it anti-anything exactly? How does it mock our "blessed mother"? People are so dumb.

This cover is VERY disturbing! I am surprised that ZBB would put such a blatantly anti-catholic; evil looking picture on their cover. This greatly makes a mockery of the Blessed Mother and I am offended by it. I will no longer be a fan of ZBB nor buy any of their music.

That is literally sick...I am no longer a fan of ZBB since seeing this cover. Nothing like mocking our Blessed Mother.
