KUZZ Presents David Nail in Debut Performance at Buck Owens Crystal Palace

Academy of Country Awards nominee for Radio Station of the Year in the Medium market, and recent NAB Crystal Heritage Award winning KUZZ 107.9 in Bakersfield, CA is proud to present Missouri native David Nail for a SOLD-OUT show at Buck Owens Crystal Palace, February 11, 2012. The show will be the debut performance for David at the renowned home of Buck Owens Crystal Palace.

In a recent conversation with KUZZ on-air personality Toni-Marie she stated, "We are thrilled. David's show sold-out in two days and anytime we can put an artist like this in front at Buck's house, everyone wins. David's recent #1 is just a start of more to come for this artist." David is no stranger either in his noted appreciation for all those who have helped along the way in his over 10 year career. Toni-Marie is mentioned on the CD insert of his latest release, "Sound of a Million Dreams" and was blown away by this gesture. "I am a big fan of David's and just feel it is my job to spread the good word. I have never literally heard an angel sing, but in my Heaven the boy angels sound like David Nail."

It seems David did not truly hit his full stride till the release of his debut album, "I'm About To Come Alive" in 2009, which brought us the Top-Ten and ACM nominated hit, "Red Light" and the Grammy nominated song for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, "Turning Home."

As quoted on David's web site, "Imagery is so much a part of what draws me to the songs I record. I pick songs with cities in their lyrics or the names of girls because I want you to know exactly where I'm coming from and what I'll be talking about. I love painting those pictures. I've always felt that an album's title was the most important thing besides the music. It automatically gives someone an idea of what to expect. If you had to tell a story of me to this point in my career, "The Sound of a Million Dreams really sums it up." http://www.davidnail.com/bio.aspx

David's voice is incomparable; it is smooth, full of strong emotions and he is in total control of this vocal instrument knowing when to let it out at full tilt or pulling the reins back in. He has recently earned his first #1 single, "Let It Rain", a song about one of the main-stays in country music; a spouse who seeks forgiveness for "the one night I forgot to wear that ring.". The single made history as the longest rising #1 since the inception of the country radio charts. This long trek truly showed the determination of his fans in "Nail-Nation" who worked tirelessly to keep the song out there. "The Sound of a Million Dreams" will be the next release off his sophmore album of the same name.

“There are so many people to thank, so many people who believed and helped and fought,” Nail said. “There have been so many moments when it felt like it would all fall apart, but people kept in there with us. They didn’t want to give up, either, and that’s maybe the mark of making a difference with a song or an album: when people care enough to not just move on. Right now, I feel like the luckiest man in the world.” (On the day of the ASCAP celebration for the #1 of "Let It Rain") http://www.davidnail.com/news_d.aspx?nid=7366

David played a show in Southern California a few years back, and at that time I told my friends, "You need to watch this guy, he is going to be someone to contend with." I am proud to say now that many friends have said, "You were right", and you know I love saying, "I told you so." The show at Bucks will be the first of many of David's Western swing. He will be with Martina McBride on 2/14at NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live, 2/15 at the historic Troubadour in West Hollywood, 2/16at Club Rodeo in San Jose, 2/17 at The Davis Graduate in Davis, and rounding it off with a show in Las Vegas on 2/18 at Santa Fe Station.

David Nail's music has made me "Come Alive" and aware of what a talented and gifted artist this young man truly is. I am attending three of the shows out West and wishing I could do them all. It will be a true honor to see him on the stage at the Crystal Palace on the 11th; that is a star making step when you have arrived in this house that is a true tribute to Buck Owens. Thanks again to KUZZ in Bakersfield for giving me this opportunity to catch a show of this importance.

Happy 50 Years Young Garth Brooks !!!

Garth Brooks was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on February 7, 1962. He signed with Capitol Records and released his self-titled first album in 1989.  Ok that's a start but if you got all your alerts today with other sites wishing him Happy Birthday, read all the biography's on Garth you well know his successful history. I can write what other's have, tell you about all his records, his accomplishments and so forth but that is not what his birthday is for me.

When I heard Garth's first self-titled album in 1989 I knew this would be a country "love affair" that would last with me for as long as it was possible.  I think I wore out the first album & had to buy another.  I can remember such anticipation when word was out that another, and another & yet another and on & on were being released; at times being at the stores, if opened 24 hours, at midnight to get my copy.  I was never disappointed in the music Garth gave us, yet my thoughts are still out on the Chris Gaines deal.  (Ha Ha)  I have everything he has released and when I am listening daily to music somewhere in my list is Garth music.

I believe we were given the gift when Garth Brooks was born.  He has been blessed with his talent and has used it wisely, and he has also blessed the world with this gift to share his music unselfishly.  Having seen Garth ten times in concert I can tell you I have never seen the same show twice, something is always different about each one.  This was evident in January 2008 when he did what some would call impossible; five shows in two days.  All the proceeds from the $45 ticket sales, the merchandise, etc were monies donated to the Southern California Fire Fighters who had been battling days of devastating wild fires.

I attended four of those shows and to this day wish I had done all five.  The day the tickets went on sale it was like "Beatlemania" all over again, yet this was "Garthmania."  We were all exhausted but had our tickets.  It was an electric time and one I am so happy to have shared with so many friends.  The tenth and most recent show on my list was in Las Vegas, and to say that was the greatest Garth Brooks "concert" is an understatement.  It was like having him in our living room just kickin back, swapping stories and singing songs.  We laughed, we sang along, we cried, but most of all we did not want it to end.

Garth I wish you a Happy Birthday, hoping your day was as blessed as you have blessed us with your songs.  There may be just one gift left I would like; to be able to one day meet you to shake your hand (or give ya a hug) & to say thanks, that's it, just thanks.

The Country Throwdown Tour is gearing up for another run in 2012.  Opening day will be held May 18th at Jones Park in Gulfport, MS.  There are only a few dates listed at this time but more are guaranteed to be added to the schedule.

I attended the inaugural Throwdown in 2010 and the "cast of characters" were off the charts with Eli Young Band, Jack Ingram, Heidi Neufield, Little Big Town, Jamie Johnson & Montgomery Gentry.  In 2011 it was dubbed the "Willie Nelson Country Throwdown Tour" with of course Willie and a repeat artist Jamie Johnson.

This year the line-up is stellar featuring Headliner Gary Allan, along with Justin Moore, Josh Thompson, Eric Paslay, Sunny Sweeney, The Bluebird Cafe tent stage artists and local acts to be announced later.  Justin Moore however will be a limited part of the tour with performances in May and Rodney Atkins will be performing in June.  July dates and artist's for the rest of the tour to fill in will be announnced over the next few months.

Scotty McCreery Has Headlining Status at Jukebox Music Festival

The "New Kid in Town", Scotty McCreery has made his mark on the country music world since his 2011 win on American Idol.  His debut album, "Clear As Day" brought us two smash hits.

The album’s debut single, “I Love You This Big,” became a Top 15 hit and enjoyed the highest-charting debut for a new artist since at least 1984, while the video for the song hit No. 1 in just a week after its release. He recorded his debut album while starring in the American Idols Live! Tour, which Pollstar ranked as one of the nation’s Top 15 tours.  He followed that up with "The Trouble With Girls."

A new musicl festival has been added to the summer's never ending list of things to do.  The Inaugural "Juke Box Music Festival" will take place in Anderson, CA from July 20-22.  This event is sporting some big names other than Scotty's, who will headline on Friday night on the Headliner Stage.  Saturday on that same Headliner Stage is Joe Nichols & Sunday is Alan Jackson.

On the Grand Stand Stage there are some very impressive guest's.  Friday night is Mark Chestnut, Saturday Kellie Pickler and Sunday Ricky Skaggs & Pam Tillis.  Times are leveled so as not cross over to the Headliner stage performances.  I am very much liking the sound of this impressive good old country music line-up.  Tickets are on sale now and are going fast.  To learn more about the Juke Box Music Festival head on over to their site and get ready to kick up your heels.  http://jukeboxmusicfestival.com/

Check out the Super Bowl spot featuring Jennifer Nettle's twangy vocals

Remember when you had to actually wait for the Super Bowl to be able to watch the funny videos?

Well wake up, people, it's 2012 and thanks to the power of YouTube, you don't have to sit through a boring old football game just to catch all the fun. Heck, these days you can catch many of the ads before the Super Bowl even airs.

This year Pepsi recruited Jennifer Nettles to sing Your Cheatin' Heart for their Pepsi Max Super Bowl commercial. Check it out above. The only thing that would have been more entertaining is if they had gotten Jennifer herself to play the Pepsi-Max-loving cashier.

And if you still insist on tuning in to the Super Bowl itself, you can catch the big game February 5 on NBC.

However, if you're like me and only care about the commercials, there's a site for that too.

Reba would like you to know she didn't fall off a cliff in Austria accidentally or otherwise

Reba_TwitterIcon

OMG! REBA HAS DIED!

Not!!!

So apparently there is a website that makes up fake news stories just for the sake of making up fake news stories - kind of like The Onion but less funny.

Well they for some reason decided to create a story about Reba perishing in some sort of unintentional cliff dive.

Actress Reba Mcentire died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria early this morning - February 1, 2012.

Preliminary reports from Austrian Police officials indicate that the actress fell more than 100 feet to her death in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie. Specific details are not yet available.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12).

I'm not sure why they thought creating a fake news story about Reba dying would be humorous, but apparently some people still haven't figured out that there's constantly celebrity death hoaxes floating around and it's best to wait until the Today Show or the Associated Press reports on it to believe it because people started losing their shiz over the rumor.

Thankfully it was just that, a horrible rumor, and Reba is alive and kicking.

And just in case you still have your doubts and are mourning the loss of your precious Reba, she took to her Twitter yesterday to clear the air.

Reba twitter comment

So there you go.  Long live Queen Reba!

Former American Idol alum, Casey James, goes the boring route for new album cover

Casey James album cover

Sigh.

Casey James has given the world its first glimpse of his new album, Casey James,  (via USA Today) which will hit stores March 20th.  Let's just say that it's a good thing Casey's one hot dude because his album cover is a big ol' dud.

Oh well, let's hope they spent the money they saved on cover art and poured it all into making one awesome album!
