Jewel and Ty Murray finally felt the time was right to introduce the world to their itty bitty bundle of joy Kase Townes who was born July 11.
Jewel tells People.com that she had planned on having a natural birth but Baby Kase had other plans and she ended up having to have an emergency C-section.
“We wanted a natural birth and I was committed to that. I studied hypnobirthing.”
At a routine check-up a week past her due date, doctors discovered that the baby’s heartbeat was dropping whenever Jewel had Braxton Hicks contractions, and the decision to undergo the surgery was made.
Yep, babies tend to have their own agendas and no amount of planning will ever change that. It's a good lesson to learn early on.
You can see some more pictures of the happy family as well as read more of Jewel's birth story over on People.com.
