You know you're darn important when MTV creates a whole new award category just for you.
Okay, maybe they didn't create it just for one person, but it sure does seem suspicious.
See, a few weeks back the MTV Video Music Award nominations were announced and there was not one single nomination for Taylor Swift.
Zero. Zilch. Nada.
Kanye West had to be crappin' himself with joy.
But since we all know that Taylor Swift rules this here world, no nominations just couldn't be tolerated.
Besides that, Katy Perry, who got nine nominations, spoke out against Taylor and some of her other friends being snubbed.
So what was MTV to do? Well how about inventing a whole new category and unsnubbing a few big names?
Yep, kiddies, MTV has started a brand new category for the VMAs and Taylor Swift is nominated!!! Yay!!! And all is right with the world again.
Introducing the nominees for the brand spankin' new MTV Video Music Awards Best Video With A Message category that was created to celebrate "the union between music and social activism, and highlights artists who created music videos that made us think about the world around us," or, as I like to call it, the make-sure-and-keep-the-big-money-makers-happy category.
The nominees are:
- Katy Perry - Firework (Katy Perry shoots sparks from her boobs. Message: Makes sure kids realize they're special)
- Rise Against - Make It Stop (September's Children) (Video includes a list of gay teens who have killed themselves)
- Lady Gaga - Born This Way (Message: Love yourself no matter how weird you are)
- Eminem - Love the Way You Lie (Message: Uhmm, I don't have enough attention span to try and decipher what Eminem's rapping about, sorry)
- P!nk – F**kin' Perfect (Message:It's okay to cuss as long as you ** the letters. Oh, and the video also teaches you to accept yourself no matter what)
- Taylor Swift - Mean (Message: Get rich and tell your bullies to suck it!)
