Celebrity phone hacking....it's a thing now.
Unfortunately, most starlets who have their phones hacked end up with nude pictures, sex tapes, their celebrity little black book, or drug photos exposed to the world and can have a lot of explaining to do, but generally it's more an annoyance than anything.
Julianne Hough had her phone hacked recently and the photos the hackers released are just about the most tame bunch of hacked photos you're ever going to see.
She really does appear to be the good girl she portrays to the world.
Of course, cute photos of puppies, costumes, and Ryan Seacrest are just the tip of the iceberg because Julianne's phone also had some rather important things on it like her Footloose script, health insurance info (!), and her entire unreleased album that's been sitting around waiting for the right time to be released.
Wow.
The group who hacked Julianne's phone as well as others in the magazine world and in Hollywood is an offshoot of the infamous hackers Anonymous and call themselves Hollywood Leaks. The main purpose of their hacking endeavors seems to be to annoy celebs and just sort of piss people off for the fun of it.
Mission accomplished I'd think. Of course, celeb photos are one thing, releasing a person's medical information is quite another.
The release of Hough’s insurance card, however, is not just distasteful. It may be criminal according to the Department of Health and Human Services, which says that the release of personally identifiable health information may result in prison sentences of 1 to 10 years and penalties of $50,000 to $250,000.
Of course, I can't imagine the feds taking this all that seriously, but hopefully they might.
