Dwight Yoakam's music career is ripe for a comeback and he's set the ball rolling by resigning with his old record label Warner Music Nashville. If all goes well, he hopes to be releasing his first album in seven years by next year....but until that happens, it looks like Hollywood's going to be keeping him busy for a good long while to come.
Dwight's currently shooting a movie with Billy Bob Thornton called Jayne Mansfield’s Car, but it looks like his biggest movie role to date may be just around the corner.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Dwight, along with Helena Bonham Carter, are in talks to join the cast of big budget Disney movie, The Lone Ranger, which already includesThe Social Network's Armie Hammer who will play the famous masked man and swashbuckling hero Johnny Depp as his trusty sidekick Tonto.
Unfortunately, Dwight is up for the part of the villain, Butch Cavendish, who is part of the gang who tries to kill The Lone Ranger which means that if The Lone Ranger movie becomes anything like the original T.V. show there will be a whole era of children who will grow up hating Dwight Yoakam for trying to kill their hero.
But at least he will get to star in a movie with Johnny Depp, that's gotta look good on a resume.
Production on the movie is expected to start this fall in Texas and New Mexico.
