Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife, Tish, have announced via People.com that they are ending their 17-year marriage.
From People.com....
Miley Cyrus's parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, are divorcing after 17 years of marriage, they tell PEOPLE.
"As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family," they say in a statement. "We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."
The couple have five children, including the pop star. Divorce papers were filed Wednesday in Tennessee citing irreconcilable differences.
Well as celebrity marriages go, these two had a pretty darn good run of it. Still sad, though.

Billy Ray produced Miley, so he is very successful and was instrumental in the direction of her career with Disney. I hope all will work as best as possible for the whole family at this time. Prayers for all of them.

To tell the truth, I was immediately sad for Billy Ray that People.com started out the announcement by mentioning that this was Miley's mom and dad. Like how awful that he can't make a sad announcement without being reminded that his 17-year-old daughter is probably far more famous than he is.
Then I was sad for them and their divorce.

My first thought is that 17 years of marriage is a good try particularly where celebrities are involed.
My second thought is how sad my first thought is.
