At some point during my recent sabbatical, the world seems to have spun backwards on its axis and we've now rewound to 2009.
Joy of joys.
Seriously, did Superman suddenly re-emerge and once again rescue Lois Lane from that car burial in the earthquake-induced grave forcing us all to relive this moment in time?
Oh wait, the VMA's are coming up this weekend...never mind about that whole Superman thing.
In case you haven't heard, Kanye West apologized to Taylor this weekend via his Twitter in a really long-winded and pretty much annoying way for the microphone hijacking he did at last year's awards show.
Apologies are always a nice thing - Twitter apologies with probable ulterior motives, not so much.
Just about a year ago Kanye became a media pariah when he stole Taylor's thunder at the VMAs as she was being given her Moonman statue for Best Female Video. Now Kanye is scheduled to perform at Sunday's VMAs and host Chelsea Handler has hinted that Kanye and Taylor will appear on stage together in some capacity.
Again, joy of joys.
Now enter this crazy Twitter apology rant where Kanye goes on and on and on and about how sorry he is, how he's written Taylor a song, how the media is to blame for his troubles, how he's had to close the offices of some of his business ventures, and how he's bled for Taylor over the last year. Yeah, blah, blah, blah. You can read the whole thing on Kanye's Twitter here.
Call me a skeptic but I smell a plead for no boos when he hits the stage this Sunday, not an actual I'm sorry. But that's just me.
Honestly, I think most people are totally over this story, but I'm sure MTV's eating this all up. Nothing like the world talking about Kanye and Taylor just a week before the awards show. Heck, even CNN's jumped on the entertainment gossip bandwagon and wrote a story about it. It really makes me smile when I see news resources like CNN reporting on stuff like this.
As for Taylor, so far she hasn't spoken out about the apology - thank goodness - but, as always, there are "sources" close to Taylor who are putting in their 2 cents on behalf the singer.
“Taylor is furious that Kanye keeps discussing the VMAs incident,” said a source close to Swift.
“She’s fed up of hearing about it and is disgusted that he has the cheek to use her name to promote his new album!
“Taylor has moved on from the incident and is hoping Kanye will — eventually — do the same.”
And just in case you haven't had your fill of this whole story, MTV will be airing a special on Saturday at 11 called "The VMAs: Revealed - Presented by New 5 React Gum" that will take a look at how Taylor handled the whole debacle.
Oh you totally know I'm setting my DVR.
Now onto happier thoughts, the death and resurrection of Lois Lane.
