Old Texas Stadium falls in a cloud of dust

TEXASSTADIUM

Home of countless concerts and sporting events and home of the Dallas Cowboys for more than 38 seasons, Texas Stadium was demolished today in front of more than 20,000 people.

11-year-old Casey Rogers won an essay contest and was the one who got to push the button that brought the huge building to the ground.

"Awesome!" said Casey. "It was better than I thought it would be."

The Cowboys had moved into the nearby Cowboys Stadium after their 2008 season.  George Strait and Reba were the very first concert headliners in the new stadium.

The stadium wasn't only a sports and concert venue, it also was historic in the world of pop culture. It was the setting for "Mean" Joe Greene’s memorable commercial in which he throws his Pittsburgh Steelers jersey to a fan who gives him a Coke ("Hey kid, catch") and the movie "Any Given Sunday." Billy Graham opened the place with a 10-day Crusade, and country music star Garth Brooks held three nights of sold-out shows during which he flew over the crowd.

Check out the cool video below of the demolition.  You can also check out more videos and information about the stadium here.
