The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum has announced that John Michael Montgomery will be one of their 2011 inductees.
Montgomery was born and raised in Kentucky and still lives there today. His accomplishments as a country music superstar and his personal contributions to the state of Kentucky make him a wonderful candidate for this prestigious honor.
"It's the ultimate achievement to be inducted into a Hall of Fame in your home state, where you grew up learning your trade, doing something you always loved to do," said Montgomery.
With a musical career that spans ten studio albums and three greatest hits packages, John Michael Montgomery’s contribution to the country music format includes hits such as “I Swear,” “Be My Baby Tonight,” “I Can Love You Like That,” “Sold (the Grundy County Auction Incident)” and “Life’s A Dance,” among many others. He’s earned 15 number one singles, sold over 15 million albums and received numerous industry and fan-voted awards, including CMA Awards, ACM Awards and American Music Awards, and was nominated twice for a Gammy Award. John Michael was recently featured in a full length infomercial for TIME LIFE for their COUNTRY MUSIC EXPLOSION compilation package and he is also currently working on his own new project for TIME LIFE to be released later this year.
John Michael is proud to be a Kentuckian. He was born in Danville, KY and often tells the stories of working in area clubs where he played with this parents before starting his own band. He could have chosen any where to live and raise his family, but he chose Nicholasville, KY to do so. After all, Kentucky is hard to leave.
