Gamblers Anonymous doesn't want Jamey Johnson's money

Matthewjamey

In case you didn't know it, Jamey Jonson and Matthew McConaughey are old buddies, and as old guy buddies often do the two made a football bet.

Matthew McConaughey lost.

Unfortunately this bet didn't involve embarrassing tattoos, naked runs through public places, or even prank calling George Clooney. Nope, it was a boring old money bet, although the money is going for a good cause.

From Life & Style magazine, "We made a $500 bet on the Texas-Alabama national-championship game, with the money going to the winner's chosen charity," Matthew tells Life & Style. "Jamey had 'Bama." Sadly for Matthew, the Crimson Tide won the Jan. 7 game 37-21. But Matthew is having some trouble paying his buddy. "Jamey wanted to donate the $500 to Gamblers Anonymous, but they wouldn't take it," he says. "So I'm writing this check to him so he can finally go out a winner and get out of the gambling game." All fun and games aside, Matthew donates time and money to his J.K. Livin Foundation, which benefits children.

Glad to see the money is going to a good cause (eventually), but let's hope the next time the two make a bet it involves incredibly embarrassing fun stuff.

John Rich, Gretchen Wilson, and Sarah Palin are trying to take back our country

DSC_4685-x600

I'm sure there's a joke in here somewhere, you betcha.

John Rich and Gretchen Wilson are set to perform on March 13 at the Tulsa Convention Center as part of Glenn Beck's Taking Our Country Back tour, which John Rich helped to plan.

Also attending the rally will be ex Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Tickets for the rally and concert cost from $45 to $100.

John Rich will also attend a second rally (though probably minus Sarah and Gretchen) in April in Kansas City and if the two "tour" stops are successful then up to 10 more events are being planned.

I must be joked out today because I honestly can't come up with nothin'. Sorry to let you all down.

You can read more about the Taking Our Country Back tour here.

Even Dolly's wedding spot is a tourist destination

Untitled (2)

Over 40 years ago Dolly and her husband Carl were married at the Ringgold Wedding Chapel and now the city of Ringgold, Georgia itself has dug up a little Dolly history and is now displaying Dolly and Carl's wedding photo and marriage license.

“We thought it would be something nice and interesting to add to our display case,” said Meaghan Dant, market-ing coordinator for Ringgold. “We have a lot of memorabilia from the city’s history, and we think this is something that people will enjoy taking a look at.”

The display is available for viewing at the Ringgold Depot at 155 Depot St. and can be seen between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

And you thought that tin foil ball that's your city's claim to fame was cool.

Big D & Bubba and Gab together at last....let's hope I don't suck

Big%20D%20&%20Bubba

Okay, got some news I've been sitting on for a couple of days and it's gotten a little painful so I'm going to finally spill the beans.

Whew.

Those crazy morning show dudes, Big D & Bubba, that you can hear all over the place have asked me to give them the dirt on Friday mornings.  You can hear me for the first time tomorrow and hopefully it'll be a weekly gig.  That is unless I'm a complete dud, then they may replace me with the weather report or stupid pet tricks or something.

Tomorrow will more than likely suck huge because I'm always full of nerves the first time I chat with a DJ so don't hold that against me, but after that I will be full of all kinds of dirt.  And yes, it will be dirt because the boys have indicated they don't want no stinkin' news, they want the low down, bowels of country music gossip and I'm going to try my darndest to deliver.

Now, can someone please provide me with some good dirt?

Don't know if you get Big D & Bubba in your area?  Check out where you can find them here.

Gary Allan ups the ante on my Gary vs. Blake Shelton crush race

Gary allan tattoo video

Oh my crush race is definitely heating up.

Blake had won my heart after his mildly intoxicated but totally endearing video chat the other day.  But then comes this video of Gary doing an interview about his new CD "Get Off On The Pain" while getting some new ink.  So. Friggin'. Sexy.

However will Blake top that?  Don't know about you but I'm totally excited to find out.

Kellie Pickler's pup is an avid Animal Planet fan

Too cute for words. Kristy from Bomshel posted this video to the pair's Twitter about a month ago that shows Kellie Pickler and boyfriend, Kyle's, pup Maddie intently watching Animal Planet (actually YouTube, but who's paying attention?) on the computer.

I think that Maddie needs her own Twitter account. She looks entertaining.

Live blogging the Brooks & Dunn press conference because that's how I roll

Brooks and Dunn

I don't do live blogging about awards ceremonies, but mysterious press conferences from a group who has already announced their break-up is right up my alley.  So here you go, live blogging Brooks & Dunn's "big announcement."

12:03 MST - starting live blogging, screen at http://www.brooks-dunn.com/ still just says event coming up.  So excited!

12:05 MST - excitement building - five mins to go - oh look a forgotten M&M on my desk.  Score!

12:09 MST - Blank screen still. Guess they start at precicesly 10 after. Fun.

12:11 MST - still no video.  Wait, there's a Shiba Inu puppy cam link. Must. Be. Strong.

12:12 MST - uhmm, still no video. Refresh doesn't help. Shiba Inu puppy cam calling even stronger to me.

12:14 MST - dayumm, hit home button instead of refresh.  The B&D video-viewing gods must be angry.  Must look for another M&M to appease.

12:16 MST - no video. Doopty doo.

12:17 MST - video is engaging. I repeat, video is engaging.

12:17-1/2 - false alarm.

12:18 MST - wait, there's a play button. I hit play and got a black screen.  Still looking for M&M to appease the video-viewing gods.

12:19 MST - video now says off air. Apparently ustream is not the best bet for live-streaming press conferences.

12:20 MST - Shiba Inu's still calling my name. What the heck is a Shiba Inu anyway?

12:22 MST - Shiba Inu via wikipedia - A small, agile dog that copes very well with mountainous terrain, the Shiba Inu was originally bred for hunting. It is similar in appearance to the Akita, though much smaller in stature.

12:23 MST - we have video!  came on just as someone was saying something about Lewis and Clark.

12:24 MST - Kix Brooks is wearing leather jacket and blue shirt. They're not quitting, they're splitting he says.

12:25 MST - Their final show will be in Nashville on August 10th with some special guests and they will be donating all the proceeds to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

12:27 MST - Ronnie is laughing about drunken late night texting.  Fun.

12:28 MST - Bubble blowing goats? Anyone care to explain?

12:31 MST - Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to see about some Shiba Inu puppies and a bubble-blowing goat.

Update: You can read about the bubble-blowing goat here.

Angry mob storms John Rich's house, beams of light involved

2010-02-24-311

OMG!  This is too funny.  Okay, maybe it wasn't meant to be funny to those involved, but I have some seriously humorous images running through my head.

Must. Find. Video.

So John Rich's house on the hill (Love Circle to be exact) has a lot of haters, and I don't think the fact that he's dubbed it Mt. Richmore has helped.  Well apparently a Twitter-formed mob (read the Tweets regard Flash Fest 2010 here) decided last night to head over to Mt. Richmore to protest..and they came armed....with flashlights.

Yup, the demonstraters took flashlights. But never fear, no damage was done, the light-hating mob just wanted to prove a point and so they all shined their flashlights into John's windows to show that light sucks -or something like that.  I guess John's house puts off a lot of light and it shines in all the neighbors' windows.

Okay, maybe it's not so funny when I tell the story, that's why you need to head over to Nashville Cream to get the full funny version.

And just so you know, that's not a UFO coming in for a landing in the picture above, that's actually the light coming from John's house. Crazy.  You can read a slightly more serious account of the protest here as well as see some more pictures here.

Another country bebe on the way

Luke-bryan-240

Forget the healing waters of Australia, if you're wanting a baby in the very near future then I suggest you eat a whole bunch of whatever it is those catering services are feeding the country stars backstage.

People.com is reporting that Luke Bryan and wife, Caroline, are expecting baby #2 in August.

"We're excited to have another little member of the family coming in," says Bryan.

Coming in?  As in for a landing?

Luke tells People.com that having successfully launched the birth of their first child, Bo, (going along with the whole coming in for a landing theme, mind you), the second pregnancy has so far been a breeze, "When you successfully brought one in the world, you are a little more confident in your ability to do it the second time," he says. "We're a little more relaxed – you know everything that can come at you."

As a parent who has successfully brought two kiddos into the world, I'll be the first to tell Luke that you can NEVER know everything that can come at you, but I'll leave him to his happy thoughts.

As for whether the baby's going to be another little Luke or Lucy, Luke says they will definitely be finding out the sex,  "I'd lose too much sleep wondering otherwise!"

Congrats to the happy family!
