You may not know this but Taylor Swift has had a battle going on behind the scenes, a battle with Susan Boyle, that Scottish YouTube sensation from one of those English Idol-esque shows. Seems the two gals have been battling it out pretty fiercely to see who was going to have the top-selling album of 2009 and, though it came down to the wire, the golden haired one seems to have come out on top.
Taylor's "Fearless" has bested Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" to be named the top-selling album of 2009 in the US. "Fearless" reportedly sold a total of 3.1 million copies over the last year while Boyle's album sold 2.9 million units. The amazing part, though, is that while Taylor's album was released in November of '08, Susan's album was just released in November of 2009.
Now that's crazy!
Congrats to both ladies for a huge accomplishment.
And now off to the Taylor playing Supergirl rumor that's been circulating the last week or so. According to a DC Comics spokesman the rumor's not true at all. RTTNews quoted the DC spokesman as saying: "I'd love to know who the 'Hollywood insider' is, because that's as clueless a thing as I've heard all year."
And with that little quote, interest in the Supergirl movie has fell into the negative interest range.
Congrats to DC for shooting down the only rumor that made the movie buzz worthy.
And while we're on the subject of Taylor, check out this great video Today's Best Country Music Videos had today.
Apparently back in 2006 Big Machine Records had an idea for a reality series about a start-up record label and the artists they were trying to make stars. The reality show never made it, but luckily Big Machine Records and it's stars did. It even includes footage of Taylor singing a never-released tune. Enjoy.

well, this is definitely proof that the kid started out with money. and lots of it.
