Hmmm, is it customary for judges to give an official date for a couple to be divorced? Honestly I have no clue but that's just what the judge in LeAnn and Deane's divorce case has done.
According to Entertainment Tonight, "LeAnn and Deane's marriage will officially be over on June 19, 2010, LeAnn and Dean's marital status will be terminated and the parties will be restored to single status under the law, according to court papers. The Marital Settlement Agreement, consisting of 44 pages, will not be filed due to the parties' mutual desire to maintain their privacy."
Hmmm, that seems like a really long time, especially considering they have no kids. All I can say is thank goodness we have an official light at the end of the tunnel of this mess.

Introducing an engaged Carrie and her ring. It's small but you can tell it's definitely a rock.
A big thank you to Tamara for the picture.
And here's a bit about the engagement from Mike's website...
Fisher proposed to the 26-year-old singer Sunday afternoon at his Ottawa home. The two have extremely busy schedules and Fisher took advantage of an off-day with the Ottawa Senators to pop the question. "We're both very excited," Fisher said. "These are exciting times. We'd been talking about this and we're both really happy."

By now we all know that Mike and Carrie are engaged and that Mile reportedly popped the question yesterday. Merry Christmas indeed! Well now you can see Mike sheepishly chatting with the Ottawa Citizen this morning about getting engaged. Check out the video here. He's so cute.
I do have to say that I used all of my blogger persuasion to get a statement from Carrie's peeps about the engagement this morning. I was sure with my exceptional people skills and niceness I'd get some great details. And here's what I was told....
I’m happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn’t be happier. No wedding date has been set at this time.
Yep, same statement People Magazine, CMT, and everyone else has gotten. Guess I should work on my people skills and bloggin' connections. Haha.

I love when science proves what the rest of us smart folks already know, country music is wonderful!
Apparently it's been scientifically proven that country music is good for brain damage - unlike rap and heavy metal which may in fact cause brain damage.
Okay, that last part I made up, but is anyone going to argue with me?
Anyway, back to the science part of things. Mike Pensom had a stroke which depleted his vision and he claims that when listening to his favorite singer, Kenny Rogers, his vision improves according to the BBC.
"When they played Kenny Rogers for me I was able to spot things that I was not able to see before," Pensom said.
"They had me sitting in front of the computer and showed me images. Because of my vision some parts of the image were missing in the bottom left hand corner. But when they played the Kenny Rogers I saw more of the picture.
Andrea Lane from The Stroke Association concluded: "This trial has shown some very interesting outcomes and have provided lots to think about in terms of rehabilitation and how music therapy may benefit stroke patients."
More importantly may be the fact that this isn't the first time Kenny Rogers' music has been shown to help brain function in victims of brain damage. Back in March similar findings were released.
Among the artists favored by the patients were the Flying Burrito Brothers Band, Frank Sinatra and Kenny Rogers. Songs from the latter artist provided the greatest benefits.
"We were thinking of calling this the Kenny Rogers Effect," said David Soto, an Imperial College London neuroscientist.
Just wanted to confirm what we all already knew, country music is good for the soul and the brain.

Apparently Mike has been happily telling people he's engaged to Carrie. Yay!!!
According to The Ottawa Citizen....
"It's true," Fisher said. "We're both obviously excited and very happy and so, exciting times for sure."
A wedding date hasn't been set.
Fisher said he popped the question Sunday, but he wouldn't go into any more details. He has been reluctant to speak about the relationship in the past.
But according to a family friend, Fisher, 29, popped the question at his home Sunday afternoon while surrounded by his family and friends, before texting the good news to many of his close friends later in the day.
And a few Tweets....
Thanks Tamara for the heads up.

Last night the rumors started swirling that Mike Fisher had popped the question to Carrie Underwood and she had accepted. Of course all the rumors started because of one little Tweet made by someone no one had ever heard of before.
Well now Canada's Ottawa Sun is reporting that the rumor is 100% true....
Mike Fisher and Carrie Underwood are engaged to be married, a source has confirmed this morning.
The blogosphere has been alive and buzzing since Sunday with rumours the celebrity couple have become engaged. The rumours began spreading after a friend of Underwood’s family congratulated the former American Idol and the Senators centre on their upcoming marriage on his Twitter page last night.
This morning, a source close to the couple confirmed to the Ottawa Sun that Fisher popped the question and Underwood has accepted the proposal.
Until I see a ring or a yes come off the lips of Carrie and/or Mike I'm still a bit skeptical. The one thing I'm very sure of, though, is that this is definitely going to make Carrie hate Twitter even more.

Wow, seems everyone has an end-of-year Entertainer of the Year Award and THE news group is no exception.
The Associated Press announced this morning that it has voted Taylor Swift its EOTY.
Crazy, even the news sources are jumping on the Taylor bandwagon. The world, folks, is under the girl's spell and it's one that doesn't seem to be in danger of breaking anytime soon.
Taylor showed the proper amount of excitement, "I am so honored and so excited," Swift said in an interview by phone with the AP. "This was so unexpected, and I could not be more grateful."
Yeah, unexpected because who knew the AP played favorites?
Sorry to be so darn cynical but it's tough to get overly excited on news like this because really, is anyone surprised anymore?
Anyway, congrats to Taylor, I may not be at all surprised that you have one more award to add to your ever-growing collection, but I'm still 100% proud of you.
