Julianne moves on with a king

Jj-ho80315923-772056

I'm honestly amazed at how quickly celebs seem to move on from relationships.  Seriously, there doesn't seem to be any sort of grieving period for the end of a couple-ship. It's just wham, bam, thank you for the fun times now I'm gettin' myself a new man/woman.  Where most people I know in my own personal life can take months or even years to move on, celebs seem to do it in just days.

Anyway, I'm off my soap box now.  People.com is reporting that Julianne Hough has been spotted canoodling (not to be confused with noodling which involves cold, wet catfish) at the Lipstick Lounge Tuesday night with Jared Followill who is part of the group Kings of Leon.

Hmmm, maybe she's just making plans to try out a new genre of music.  Sorry, just thinking out loud.

"They were very affectionate, just hanging out at the table," says an observer of Hough and Followill, the bassist for Nashville-based band. "They stayed for about an hour and enjoyed karaoke. None of them sang, but they just hung with their group. Only a few people noticed she was even there. They didn't make a spectacle of it."

It's the second time Hough, 21, and Followill, 23, were seen out on the town together recently. On Nov. 23 they reportedly hung out at Whiskey Kitchen with Williams and her husband, drummer Chris Coleman.

A rep for Kings of Leon says: "They are friends and have been hanging."

44th+Annual+Academy+Country+Music+Awards+Show+qOcBgacxZlWl

Carrie Underwood's hit the big time, The World Almanac big time.  The country cutie is on the cover of 2010's The World Almanac and Book of Facts along with the Obama's during President Obama's inauguration and some baseball player (Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle according to BAM's Blog).

Carrie's picture is her in her red hot lava dress from last April's ACM Awards.

And while we're talking about Carrie, check out the video below of Carrie chatting with Good Day L.A.

Tim lines up a new movie that's bound to be a huge bore-fest

Tim_mcgraw_001_042009 Gwyneth

Ughh, sorry for the title of this post but I'm so, so, so not a Gwyneth Paltrow fan.  She just bores me to pieces.  Even her name makes me want to yawn and take a nap.

Anyhoo, Gwynnie aside, I think most of us were vaguely aware that Tim had a new  movie lined up that would also star Gwyneth Paltrow, but the details of what the movie's about, who else would be starring, etc. are just now coming to light.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, joining Gwynnie and Tim in Love Don't Let Me Down will be Garrett Hedlund (probably best known from the movie Eragon) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl TV show).  The drama will be written and directed by Shana Feste and Tobey Maguire of Spiderman fame will be one of the producers.

According to THR, "Love," will have Hedlund playing a young rising singer-songwriter who becomes involved with a fallen country singer played by Paltrow. They embark on a career resurrection tour with her husband-manager (McGraw) and a beauty queen-turned-singer (Meester). Romantic entanglements and old demons threaten to derail them all.

Sounds exciting enough, but still not convinced.  They should have seen if Faith would like to have played Tim's wife, now that would have made things interesting.

Production is set to begin in January 2010 in Nashville.

Union may rain on Jo Dee Messina's parade....errrr.....tree lighting

59530

Oh the holidays are here.  Christmas trees are lighting around the country, Santas are hitting the malls, the dollar stores are stocked with cheap christmas ornaments, stale candy, and tacky wrapping paper.

Yep, it's that time of year again.

And what could be more Christmas-y than the lighting of the huge Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree?  Well this year Jo Dee Messina is set to perform Sleigh Ride and Let It Snow during tonight's tree lighting on NBC, but the show may end up being called off if the Broadcast Employees' union follows through with their threats.

Seems members of the local chapter of the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians have been working without a contract since March while the suits try to hash out a deal.  Well the union has decided that the perfect way to show they mean business is to strike during tonight's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" telecast.

From Fox News...

The union is accusing NBC of growing "increasingly hostile, ignoring the concerns of the union's membership," and it has created a Web site, NBCStoleChristmas.com, to promote its cause.

"We can't let the Grinch at NBC steal another Christmas from thousands of honest working people," NABET-CWA Local 11 President Ed McEwan said in a news release. "This charade must stop. Christmas is supposed to be a time of goodwill, but the network's management is trying to hide behind their fancy lights while leaving their employees in the dark."

The union says it represents nearly 3,000 of NBC's producers, writers and technicians.

Okay, goodwill is one thing, messing with Messina is another.  It begs the question, can't we all just get along?

Carrie talks about her holiday special

Untitled

Carrie Underwood's Fox holiday special airs Monday, December 7th, and is making the media rounds to promote the show.  Check out Carrie talking about the special and her parents who help her out by not being afraid to tell her how it is.

You can also check out a 6 minute preview of the show here.  You must wait for Carrie's mom to sing.  Funny.

Dixie Chick is officially off the hook

Bc5a223f-f7e1-4929-8aaf-5e1e859b6a0c_hmedium

Nearly a year ago I brought you the story that Dixie Chick Natalie Maines was being sued for defamation by the stepfather of an 8-year-old little boy who was murdered in West Memphis 15 years ago.

Well now comes news that a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit today saying that the stepfather, Terry Hobbs, couldn't establish "actual malice" - that Maines knew the statements she made were false or that she made them with "reckless disregard" of the truth.

And there you go, another completely anticlimactic lawsuit story.

Want to win $250 from NashvilleGab?

Logo

Well guys, I had mentioned a few days ago that I was thinking of doing a site redesign, but after quite a few comments and emails from readers saying they didn't want the site to change, I've pretty well decided to keep the same design.

But that doesn't mean I don't want to change things up a bit by changing my logo (the header at the top of the page).  So if you're good at logo design or even if you just want to give it a try, then head over to LogoTournament.com and submit your design for NashvilleGab. You can also go there and vote on your favorite logo that has been submitted.

Also, I'm trying to think up some new catch phrase or tag line for NashvilleGab, something a bit more original than Nashville news and country music gossip.  A couple of ideas are "your country music water cooler" or "because country music rocks."  Anyone have anything better?

Here are a couple of reader submissions:

  • Nashville On Tap
  • Country News U Want 2 Know

Oh, and the $250 is just for the winning logo design and not for the new slogan/catch phrase/tag line.
