Gab friend, Elizabeth, strikes again with an awesome review and even better pictures, this time of my honey, Gary Allan. Thanks as always Elizabeth for letting us live vicariously through you!
Last night I was able to catch Eli Young Band, Jack Ingram and Gary Allan at the Ryman in Nashville.
The Eli Young Band kicked things off with a 25 minute set. I missed the first song, but the boys did a great job getting the crowd excited for the show, especially when they sang “Always the Love Songs.”
When It Rains
Guinevere – Eli’s favorite song on the album. The band shot the video for the song this week! This is a great song, so I hope it turns into a hit!
Always the Love Songs
Small Town Kid
Next up was one of my favorite small venue performers, Jack Ingram. This guy definitely knows how to entertain the crowd. He requested the audience to get on their feet and had the house lights turned on until he saw everyone standing.

That’s a Man
Keep on Keepin’ On – Jack said bad things always happen to good people but there is only one thing you can do about it and that is to keep on keepin’ on!
Measure of a Man – Jack dedicated to the heroes of Ft Hood and anyone serving in the military.
Seeing Stars – Jack invited Patty Griffin to come out and sing with him. She duets with him on the album, and he said he is always so impressed with her vocal ability and was proud of her performance at the BMI awards Monday. I heard she almost had Kris Kristofferson in tears!
Wherever You Are
Barefoot and crazy! – Definitely the most crowd pleasing song for Jack. He look his boots off and put them over the microphone stand. After the song he said he better put his boot back on because he didn’t want Porter Wagner to be rolling around in his grave.
Barbie Doll
LOVE YOU
I didn’t really know what to expect from Gary. To be completely honest I had seen EYB and Jack twice within the past 6 months and didn’t know much about Gary and didn’t really want to go to this concert. A friend begged me to get tickets with her, and I don’t like to pass up shows, so I figured it would be fun. I didn’t realize how many great songs Gary Allan sung. I’ve heard plenty on the radio and just never realized they were all Gary Allan songs. I want to know why this guy is so underrated. Why doesn’t he get more attention? After two songs in I was sold. I even e-mailed Shannon from the show and said now I get why your such a fan of this guy! Not only is he a great singer with great songs, he is an awesome performer. The set was very colorful and vibrant and the videos were really cool! He kept the crowd on their feet for over an hour and a half and had two encores. What a great experience seeing this guy live for the first time. Check him out if you haven’t already! The tour just kicked off at the beginning of November!

Best I Ever Had
Life Ain’t Always Beautiful – Gary explained they lost everything in a tornado on August 1st and had a tough few months. He said all their equipment was either borrowed, brand new or stolen J
I Just Got Back from Hell
Right Where I Need to Be – acoustic without the band - Last time Gary played at the Ryman he was opening for Mark Chesnutt and David Lee Murphy.
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down – Gary had never performed this song before but said he walked into the house a while back and his daughter was playing it, so he said what better than to have your music debut in front of a crowd at the Ryman. He invited his middle daughter, Dallas on stage. She played the piano while Gary sang. He said they practiced once so he had a cheat sheet with the words. He was one proud papa…it was great and his daughter has a future in music!
The One – Thought the song was too sappy when he wrote it and still thinks so!
Half of my Mistakes
Her Man – Gary sang a bit of his first single…followed by his new single
Today – Gary’s new single. AWESOME song!

I’m an Alright Guy – Invited Jack back on stage…he was having a little too much fun ;)

Then Gary stayed around to sign autographs from one end of the stage to the other! Jack and EYB also signed autographs after their set. Overall it was a great show and I am glad I decided to go!

Welcome to Gary's Wild Bunch. I've managed to convert several gals who always write after the show thanking me profusely for encouraging them to see Gary perform. Gary doesn't seek out the publicity, isn't at a lot of off stage events, and seems to fall off the radarscope. Unfortunate that he doesn't get more recognition.
