Just because we don't get to see enough pictures of manly men with pretty pink purses

Backstage_With_Distinctive_2d92

Oh Jason Aldean, what has happened to you?  Oh don't worry guys and gals, this picture's an old one from 2006 and that's a pretty pink tool kit and not a pretty pink purse which does in fact make this a more masculine picture.

Kudos to TodaysCountry for digging up this gem.

If only they'd bring this to America, then I could show my true talent

Untitled

Yes, I have true talent.  I'll leave you alone for a moment while you compose yourself.

Now, do you fancy yourself more like Paula or Simon?  Do you find yourself yelling at your TV screen when the sword swallowing mime gets three X's on your favorite talent show?  Well then never fear because 1Click2Fame has got you covered.

1Click2Fame is Britain's biggest online talent site which puts you in the driver seat and lets you pick tomorrows talent today.  To participate all you have to do is head over, sign up, and begin judging the online contestants' videos.  It's really that simple.  Don't believe me, then head over to 1Click2Fame to get the details in video form.

Right now there are 11 contestants vying to be the top talent; there's a magician, a couple of singers, a comedian, someone who breakdances on ice, and someone who does something that's a cross between gymnastics and freerunning, as well as others.  Yep, you gotta check it out.

1Click2Fame is backed by Tesco and since it's launch has handed out more than £150,000 worth of prizes, including top coaching sessions for singers and dancers, professional music video shoots and expensive production and editing software.

16-year-old Lucie Evans (see her video below) won the first ever final in April of this year and has gone on to record tracks with renowned producers in London and Los Angeles and is putting the finishing touches to her first album.

Right now the competetion is in it's quarter finals and will be ending tomorrow, November 26th so chop chop.  After that, the first prize of £25,000 will be given and then the top three contestants will book their place in the Annual Final in April 2010 where they will have their chance to win £100,000.  And then after that hopefully fame and fortune.

So who are the finalists?  Here's a few.

  • Aaron James Cashell, 23, from Newcastle, a singer
  • Supermalcom (Malcom Mbombowa) 25, from Streatham, South London, a dancer.
  • Pete Hathway, 26, from London who performs street magic tricks.
  • Munks (Josh McGahan) 20, from York, is a tricker – tricking is a cross between gymnastics and freerunning.
  • KKV91 (Kulpreet Virdi) 18, from Nottingham, a singer. Him and Me TV (Shea Taylor, 25 from Derby and Steve Langstaff, 25 from Hull) perform comedy spoofs and now live in Manchester and appear weekly on Channel M, Sky 203.
  • Hannah Nuttall, 18, from Essex a singer who is currently a musical theatre student.
  • Christopher Rithin, 23, from London a comedy and dramatic actor who has appeared in Harry Potter.
  • Katem3 (Kate McGill) 19, from Plymouth a singer.
  • Tibs (Toby Faulkner) 21, from Looe, Cornwall, who break-dances on ice
  • Magician (Steve Bridges) 17 from Newcastle, who performs magic tricks.

So are you convinced you need to judge these people my judgmental friends?  Then be sure to head over to the singing-competition to learn more about the singing competition.  Maybe you - if you're in the UK - can be the next big thing.  If not then you could at least be the next one to judge the next big thing.

First poster for Julianne Hough's new movie

    Burlesque_1

Julianne Hough isn't finished shooting her new movie Burlesque with Christina Aguilera and Cher yet, but we already have our first peek at the movie poster. Now we just need to see some pictures of Julianne as a stripper with a heart of gold.  Not sure if that's her role description but I'm pretty sure it's close.

Aren't Christmas videos required to have at least one Christmas tree?

I think Kellie's red hair has went straight to her head so to speak.  I mean look at how she vamped up this video of Santa Baby.  Wowza.

The old blonde Kellie would never do Christmas this sexy.

Oh wait, check out this video from 2007 of her performing the song on The Today Show.  I guess she just likes her Santa a little sexy.

And no worries, I think Kellie did a great job.  Please don't email and ask me not to pick on Pickler.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, it's all about the angle

    Spl141968_006

Taylor takes a bow or hits the floor or has a dramatic song finale or something equally thrilling....unless of course you're seeing it from this angle, then it just sort of looks silly.

Taylor performs at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, UK last night. More here.

And speaking of Taylor, she's explained why she still considers herself a country artist...

"I think a country song is when you are singing about being proud of your life," she told CNN. "I sing about love and boys, and that's my life. So that's what fascinates me - feelings. And so I think if you're singing and writing songs about the way that you live your life, that's a country song."

Sometimes it's the little things kids remember the most

    Jason%20Michael%20Carroll

You know, you can be extremely wealthy, give all the best gifts, take the best vacations, have the best home on the block and it will still be the little things that kids will remember.  The time you got to eat lunch all alone with your mom in a restaurant with cloth napkins, the time your dad came to read a story to your class, the day your sister helped you apply makeup for the first time, the time your grandfather didn't yell at you for interrupting the game just before his favorite team was about to score the winning points in overtime.  Okay, maybe that last one was just before Tivo and DVRs.  But my point is it's the little things that count the most to kids.  Just read this little quote from Jason Michael Carroll about his best memories of Thanksgivings past and you'll see what I mean....

“I think one of my favorite memories of Thanksgiving was probably going hunting with my dad. You know, I was a kid and probably six, seven years old. My dad and I, you know, every Thanksgiving, I would look forward to there was a football game to watch, but early in the morning, my dad getting me up, getting me dressed, letting me go get in the pick-up truck with him, and we’d drive out to the hunting club, and he’d go hunting. And we’d be out there all day. We’d have ham sandwiches for lunch that he got from the little community store, and I remember getting back home to the smell of turkey in the house. We lived in a trailer in Louisburg, North Carolina, and you know, if my dad got a deer, he’d be cleanin’ the deer in the yard, or whatever. And then we’d sit down and have dinner and watch football, or you know, that kind of stuff. And I remember those days. Those were some of my favorite, you know, times, goin’ huntin’ and stuff like that, and it’s definitely a good memory for me.”

I'm in Google heaven as we speak

    Untitled

Now this is creative use of website skills.  There's a new website called GoogleGoogleGoogleGoogle.com which gives you the ability to Google four different subjects on the same screen at once.

OMG! Can't believe someone didn't think of this before.  Now I can simultaneously search for Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Gary Allan, and chocolate all at the same time without having to have a bunch of pesky windows or tabs open at the same time.  My blogging life will be so much easier now.

Well dagnabbit, Sugarland is NOT part of Oprah's favorite things this year

    Oprah_sugarland-x600

Sad, sad news.  I had already told you a few days ago that Sugarland was going to be on Oprah this Monday, November 30th, but I had hoped that they were going to be there as part of Oprah's annual Favorite Things show.

Well sad news.  Yes, Sugarland is going to be on the show, but sadly it's not Oprah's Favorite Things show. In fact she's reportedly not having a Favorite Things Show this year at all.

Maybe with the economy in the tank companies aren't as willing to hand out expensive free stuff.  Even to Oprah.

But at least we'll still have Sugarland to watch on Monday.

    From the press release...

Sugarland will appear on Oprah Monday, November 30 to promote their holiday album Gold And Green. The duo will perform a Christmas classic during the show with Oscar winning actress, Jennifer Hudson. This will mark Sugarland’s second appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show this year.
