Gretchen would like you to get off your butt and exercise

Untitled

Chuck Leavell, keyboardist for The Rolling Stones, has a website called the Mother Nature Network and during Farm Aid this year he chatted with Gretchen about obesity, farming, the activity of today's youth, and biodiesel...something Gretchen's willing to give a whirl.

Chuck:  What about on tour? Are you doing some things on tour to try to be eco-friendly? Are you using biodiesel or anything like that?

Gretchen:  We haven’t. We haven’t. I didn’t even know about any of that. No. But I’m open to anything, you know, and we definitely use a lot of fuel. So I mean, anything that we can do we’ll do, but like, you know, I think the reason that we’re here today is to try to spread that kind of information, you know. There’s a lot of stuff that I don’t even know yet, you know, and I’m learning a lot just in the last hour of being here. I’ve learned a ton of new information that I can probably use. So, it’s about spreading the word and getting people interested.

Own a piece of country music history

D5273091l

Hey, my birthday is coming up on the 29th.  Anyone wanna buy me an embroidered Conway Twitty suit?  Cause I know where you can get one. And for the bargain basement price of around $2000-$3000.

Anyone?

Okay, fine.  Well if you'd like to get your hands on this fancy suit or a Buck Owens shirt or a Porter Wagner jacket or some Johnny Cash boots or a number of other items from some of the biggest names in country music years past, then just head over to Christie's where they are having a country music sale with items ranging from an estimated $100-$20,000 but that's just the amount they are estimating they'll get, I'm sure most of it will be a lot higher.

Here's the specific info just in case you happen to be in New York and want to take a look in person.

Sale Location: 20 Rockefeller Plaza, New York

Auction Times:
Dec 3 10:00 AM   Lots 1 - 150

Viewing Times
Rockefeller Center
Nov 28 10am - 5pm
Nov 29 1pm - 5pm
Nov 30 10am - 5pm

Taylor Swift finds a new outlet for her writing

Main_home_09ts

Well this just goes to show that I have completely underestimated corporate American AND Taylor Swift. Every time I think the girl has hit the roof of her opportunities she proves me wrong and does something I completely didn't see coming.

Okay, greeting cards are probably more up Taylor's alley then say vodka, so I really shouldn't be too surprised I suppose.

Anyhoo, American Greetings today announced that it's bringing Taylor Swift on board and to your local greeting card aisle! She'll be writing greeting cards along with creating a line of gift packaging, stationery, online photo personalization products and online greetings. Product will begin arriving on store shelves and be available online in spring 2010.

They really should have put a rush on this and had it out by Christmas. Can you imagine the mad rush for Taylor Swift gift wrap?

"We are absolutely thrilled and honored to introduce Taylor Swift as the newest writer and creative contributor to the American Greetings family," stated Zev Weiss, Chief Executive Officer at American Greetings. "Her abilities as a storyteller and songwriter make her a natural at writing cards for consumers of all ages. She has the unique ability to connect with her fans through life experiences and greeting cards do the same--cards help people express, connect and celebrate these events with the important people in their lives. We believe it's a natural fit!"

Taylor will be working with American Greetings' editorial and creative teams to design, develop and create a line of cards and products that reflect and demonstrate not only her personality, but bring her stories and words to life. "My idea of a great song is a song that says how I feel better than I could. I feel the same way about greeting cards," Taylor says. "I've always been fascinated by feelings and how we express them to each other. Getting to write and design these cards is a wonderful experience."

The new Taylor Swift greeting card collection will be sold through American Greetings' retailer partners throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and US military bases worldwide, and online at Americangreetings.com and Photoworks.com.

So anyone want to take a guess on what will be next?  Is there a outlet/money maker I haven't considered?  I'm running out of ideas of what Taylor can take over next.  I'd love to see your Photoshop ideas.  :0)

Tim McGraw says he would consider leaving music to coach football....if he could take the money with him

Tmcgraw

Uh oh, let's hope no football teams out there are willing to pony up a heck of a lot of money to Tim McGraw to coach or else we could be one cowboy short in country music.

Tim chatted with Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick and talked about his new movie, "he Blind Side,"and about how much he loves football, including the fact that if he could take his bank account with him he might actually consider leaving music.

Take a listen.

Congrats to the newest groom-to-be

Mike_Eli_from_The_Eli_Young_Band

I want to send a big ol' congrats to Mike Eli, lead singer of The Eli Young Band, who popped the question to his girlfriend of six years, Kacey Jann Herndon, on September 22. The romantic fella even went so far as to design the ring himself.

Mike tells People.com that he had the ring delivered to their home by FedEx and was scared Kacey would see the bauble.

"I prayed that she wouldn't answer the door and accidentally see her ring," Mike says. "I told her that FedEx was coming to deliver my taxes!"

Yeah, I'd say a wedding ring is a little more fun than taxes.  Again, congrats to the happy couple.

Taylor who? Brad sells out within an hour

ASN-tour-banner-splash

Oh sure, Taylor Swift tends to sell out super fast, but that doesn't mean she's the only superstar selling out coliseum shows.

Saturday, tickets for Brad Paisley's "American Saturday Night Tour" stop January 24th at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum sold out in less than one hour according to the Coliseum.

"We are extremely excited to be in a market that continues to thrive and purchase tickets at an extremely fast pace on top-quality entertainment that we bring to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum," said Vice President/General Manager Bart Rogers. "Because of the time frame these types of shows continue to sell out in, allows us to market our facility to the music world as the place for top performers to play."
