Lady Aer's parents didn't figure Lady A stood a chance

Untitled

Is there anything better than watching the proud parents of a bonafied country music superstar talking about how proud they are?  Not really, unless of course it's Dave Haywood's parents talking about how great Rascal Flatts is.

Now that's a priceless parental moment.

I kid.  I love this interview video Dave's parents did with Georgia's WJBF the day after Lady Antebellum won CMAs for Vocal Group of the Year and Single of the Year.

Fan review: Gary Allan

Picture 100

Gab friend, Elizabeth, strikes again with an awesome review and even better pictures, this time of my honey, Gary Allan. Thanks as always Elizabeth for letting us live vicariously through you!

Last night I was able to catch Eli Young Band, Jack Ingram and Gary Allan at the Ryman in Nashville.

The Eli Young Band kicked things off with a 25 minute set. I missed the first song, but the boys did a great job getting the crowd excited for the show, especially when they sang “Always the Love Songs.”

When It Rains

Guinevere – Eli’s favorite song on the album. The band shot the video for the song this week! This is a great song, so I hope it turns into a hit!

Always the Love Songs

Small Town Kid

Next up was one of my favorite small venue performers, Jack Ingram. This guy definitely knows how to entertain the crowd. He requested the audience to get on their feet and had the house lights turned on until he saw everyone standing.

Free

That’s a Man

Keep on Keepin’ On – Jack said bad things always happen to good people but there is only one thing you can do about it and that is to keep on keepin’ on!

Measure of a Man – Jack dedicated to the heroes of Ft Hood and anyone serving in the military.

Seeing Stars – Jack invited Patty Griffin to come out and sing with him. She duets with him on the album, and he said he is always so impressed with her vocal ability and was proud of her performance at the BMI awards Monday. I heard she almost had Kris Kristofferson in tears!

Wherever You Are

Barefoot and crazy! – Definitely the most crowd pleasing song for Jack. He look his boots off and put them over the microphone stand. After the song he said he better put his boot back on because he didn’t want Porter Wagner to be rolling around in his grave.

Barbie Doll

LOVE YOU

I didn’t really know what to expect from Gary. To be completely honest I had seen EYB and Jack twice within the past 6 months and didn’t know much about Gary and didn’t really want to go to this concert. A friend begged me to get tickets with her, and I don’t like to pass up shows, so I figured it would be fun. I didn’t realize how many great songs Gary Allan sung. I’ve heard plenty on the radio and just never realized they were all Gary Allan songs. I want to know why this guy is so underrated. Why doesn’t he get more attention? After two songs in I was sold. I even e-mailed Shannon from the show and said now I get why your such a fan of this guy! Not only is he a great singer with great songs, he is an awesome performer. The set was very colorful and vibrant and the videos were really cool! He kept the crowd on their feet for over an hour and a half and had two encores. What a great experience seeing this guy live for the first time. Check him out if you haven’t already! The tour just kicked off at the beginning of November!

Get Off On the Pain

She’s So California

A Feelin’ Like That

Nothin’ on but the Radio

It Would Be You

Learning How to Bend

Best I Ever Had

Life Ain’t Always Beautiful – Gary explained they lost everything in a tornado on August 1st and had a tough few months. He said all their equipment was either borrowed, brand new or stolen J

I Just Got Back from Hell

Right Where I Need to Be – acoustic without the band - Last time Gary played at the Ryman he was opening for Mark Chesnutt and David Lee Murphy.

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down – Gary had never performed this song before but said he walked into the house a while back and his daughter was playing it, so he said what better than to have your music debut in front of a crowd at the Ryman. He invited his middle daughter, Dallas on stage. She played the piano while Gary sang. He said they practiced once so he had a cheat sheet with the words. He was one proud papa…it was great and his daughter has a future in music!

The One – Thought the song was too sappy when he wrote it and still thinks so!

Half of my Mistakes

Her Man – Gary sang a bit of his first single…followed by his new single

Today – Gary’s new single. AWESOME song!

Songs About Rain

As Long as Your Looking Back

I’m an Alright Guy – Invited Jack back on stage…he was having a little too much fun ;)

Man of Me

Watching Airplanes

Like It’s a Bad Thing

Drinkin’ Dark Whiskey

Then Gary stayed around to sign autographs from one end of the stage to the other! Jack and EYB also signed autographs after their set. Overall it was a great show and I am glad I decided to go!

Zac Brown gets a finger-licking-good award

KFCMA Trophy

Oh, who needs the CMA's when you've got the KFCMA's?

From an email I received....

I hope this note finds you well. In the wake of Wednesday night’s awards, the KFC Colonel was very impressed with some of the results. While there are several outstanding songs that received a CMA nomination and did not win, KFC feels strongly that one song in particular deserves an extra pat on the back.

While the Zac Brown Band was not able to bring home an award this year, KFC is proud to announce the first-ever KFCMA  award for their song “Chicken Fried” which was nominated for Single of the Year.

-------------------------------

November 13, 2009

Dear Zac Brown -

Congratulations to you and the rest of the Zac Brown Band for three CMA nominations this year!

It is obviously a tremendous accomplishment to earn recognition among such a large field of talented artists and we hope you are proud of your well-deserved success in 2009.

We were particularly excited to see “Chicken Fried” nominated for “Single of the Year,” as we obviously have a natural affinity for such a toe-tapping and finger-lickin’ fun song about our area of expertise.

The KFC Colonel believed in hard work and tenacity, both qualities we know your band must have buckets of to be able to rise to the top of the country music charts. And while you weren’t able to bring home a CMA Award this year, in the spirit of the Colonel and on behalf of fried (and grilled!) chicken lovers everywhere, congratulations on receiving the first-ever KFCMA Award.

You obviously have an original recipe for making great music and we look forward to following your future successes.

Your Fan,

Roger Eaton
President of KFC

No word on if the award contains free chicken for life for Zac and the boys.

Joy to the World, Sugarland's got Christmas music and I'm gonna give you some

Sugarland-gold_and_green

I should wait until next week to start this contest since I'm already running the Dolly Parton contest, but honestly after listening to Sugarland's brand new "Gold and Green" CD, their very first Christmas music CD, I just couldn't wait that long.  For all of you who haven't heard me mention it roughly 132 times before, I'm a Christmas music freak.  I started listening to Christmas tunes on my computer at the beginning of November.  But don't worry, just Christmas music here, it'll be mid December before the Christmas decorations go up.

Anyway, I got Sugarland's new "Gold and Green" yesterday and took a listen this morning.  What a completely fun CD.  It is by far my new favorite Christmas tunage, and trust me, I have a lot of Christmas Tunage in my collection.  Jennifer Nettles smiles through every song.  How do I know?  Because you can just hear it, you can literally listen to a tune and visualize Jennifer smiling that big, huge, happy smile of hers.  It's infectious.  And the music is great too.  Five of the 10 songs are Kristian and Jennifer originals, the other five are Holiday staples like Silent Night(a song that really shows Jennifer's voice off, she gave me chills), Holly Jolly Christmas, and Winter Wonderland. What I really, really enjoyed, tho, more than anything is the fact that Kristian gets to show off his singing chops, something that unfortunately doesn't happen a lot.  If you listen to Holly Jolly Christmas it's Kristian that takes the lead through almost the entire song.  Yay.  He's got such an interesting and distinctive voice that he needs to use it more.  I know all you die-hard Sugarland fans out there will tell me I'm wrong, he always uses his voice, but I'm sorry it's Jennifer that gets most of the credit for things, not that she doesn't deserve it, just that I wish we would hear him up front more often. And lucky us, Holly Jolly Christmas gives him the chance to do that.

This is just a really great CD.  Get yours.  Like now.  And in case you take my advice, you can get your copy here from Amazon.com.

Now that I've told you to get out there and get your own copy, let me tell you that I've got one copy to give away.  Not only do I have the CD to give away I have a Sugarland poster and some Sugarland gift tags, the kind that you attach to your gifts that say to and from on them, just in time for your holiday giving.  The contest will run for a week (ending Friday, November 20th) and all you have to do to enter is email me at blogginmomma@hotmail.com and let me know you'd like to be entered.

Sugar_GrAGo_11x17_poster

And take a listen to this song from the album called Coming Home.  It's by far my favorite.  Enjoy.

Calling all Taylor Swiftfans! The singing sensation—and youngest ever to win the CMA's Entertainer of the Year award—has landed on our December cover wearing a glittery Oscar de la Renta dress. Pick up the issue on newsstands next week and be sure to come back to InStyle.com with your copy in hand to trigger a special 3D message from Swift!

Who is that capped fella?

Thumb

Last night was the premier for Tim McGraw's upcoming (next Friday) movie, "The Blind Side."  Tim chose the Professor McGraw look for the event.  But I do have to admit that I like this look.  It's so nerdishly sexy.

And Faith looks beautiful as usual.  You can check out loads more photos over on Digital Rodeo.

Wynonna voices her opinion on country's golden girl

Wynonna-judd-cmt-giants-honoring-reba-mcentire-arrivals-1FuvLp

Taylor Swift can seem to do no wrong in most people's eyes and wins nearly every award she's up for.  Winning Entertainer of the Year on Wednesday (and being the youngest in history to do so) has put her at the top of a very elite group.  But not everyone is applauding the win.  Wynonna spoke with USA Today to give her opinion of Taylor's huge win.

"You want my honest comment? It’s too much too soon," the singer told USA Today before the show. "Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once. It’s just too much of a good thing too soon."

Well after getting some guff for the comment, Wynonna took to her message board to clear up her statements.

I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift’s Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement. My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry...all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business.

I don't really see what the big deal is.  Maybe all of this is too much too soon for someone who isn't even 20 yet.  I mean Taylor is so young and I think that Wynonna was simply expressing her fears that fame, money, and all the trappings that go along with that could be harmful to one who isn't quite ready to handle it.  Thoughts?  Do you agree or disagree with Wynonna?

{Thanks Randy for the tip}
