Tim thinks Faith's looks have held her back, add 300 lbs and people would take notice

Timmcgraw25_faithhill_07tour_v_p

Oh that Tim and his awesome quotes.  Every time I read an interview he's done I find a little gem.

Tim was asked by The Wallstreet Journal "How do you think being married to Faith Hill has affected your career?"

Tim: Musically, it makes me want to be better. I get ticked off a lot because I don't think she gets the respect she deserves. I tell her all the time, "If you were 300 pounds and dog ugly, people would think you were the greatest singer in the world." They have the tendency to look at her and never really listen to her. The reason it works is she's a fantastic artist. It's almost embarrassing for me to sing with her sometimes.

Thanks Amy for the link.

Gloriana CD review, better late than never

Gloriana-cd

How funny, I have CD reviews sitting in my email that I totally spaced off posting.  So here's Gloriana's debut CD review by Gab reviewer Brandi.

Tim and Mike Gossin, Rachel Reinert, and Cheyenne Kimball........these are the talented musicians who make up the band, "Gloriana". Performing and perfecting their musical talent is something that each member has spent a long time doing. I'll not bore you with all the details, lets just say that one member started taking lessons at age 5, and another member had a recording deal at age 15. However, I'm not here to write about each individuals talent or path to stardom. I am here to review their CD. I have to say, I've heard better debut CD's before. I think after knowing that their first release (which I love, by the way) "Wild At Heart" did so well on the country charts, I expected the entire CD to follow suit. It didn't, and here is why. They have a saying on music row "it all starts with a song", something songwriters know all to well. The CD had very poor song choices. Most were way too long, or the lyrics were way too complicated. For example, "Cry on Command" is all about how women can cry whenever they want to, and the lyrics never really say anything else. "Come and Save Me" has to be my favorite track on the entire CD. The raw emotion of the vocal performance is true country. If I had to rate the CD, I'd give it a "C". My personal take on it is that the record company found a great band, with amazing vocal harmonies, and musical talent and said "hey lets hurry up and get them in the studio with whatever we got". Do I think they have potential? "YES", for sure. I can only hope that the band stay together long enough to cut a second album, and take the time to really choose the songs carefully. I have a feeling that if they relied more on what their personal taste and what their musical abilities are it would lead them to record a great album, instead of what the record executives think would make a hit. They could really go a long way in the business. Oh and one more thing....I have seen them perform live. The band has great chemistry on stage, and are so comfortable with their music and with each other. That can be rare with a newly formed band. So with that in mind, I have no doubt they have what it takes. I hope they do well in the future.

I guess this answers the burning Julianne Hough/Chuck Wicks question

I've had a few people email me to ask if Chuck and Julianne were still together since there hadn't been any word about them in quite a while. Well here's video of the two performing "What You Waiting For?" at Cotton Eyed Joe in Knoxville, TN on Thursday, 22 October 2009.

I guess it's not exactly proof that the two are still a couple, but it's a good sign.

Steve Holy was held captive by a cop?

Steve-Holy-bng01

Okay, maybe captive isn't the right word, but Steve Holy was held at gunpoint by a former Dallas police officer and that officer, Randy Anderson, has now been found guilty of aggravated assault.  From the DentonRC.com....

A state district judge Thursday found a former Dallas police officer guilty of aggravated assault for holding country music singer Steve Holy at gunpoint in December 2007. But Judge John Creuzot ruled that Randy Anderson is not guilty of kidnapping.

Anderson, 27, had already pleaded no contest to one count each of aggravated assault and kidnapping and had asked the judge to decide his fate during a three-day bench trial. Judge Creuzot will likely sentence Anderson – who is free on bond – next month after a pre-sentence investigation.

Another former officer, Paul Loughridge, 50, is charged with one count of aggravated assault in connection with the altercation. A trial date for him has not been set.

Before the verdict was announced Thursday, Anderson testified that he only pulled his gun on Holy after the musician tried to shut a door on him and acted as if he was going to charge at him.

"I was acting as a police officer through my training and my instincts," Anderson testified. He and Loughridge were both fired within weeks of the off-duty, alcohol-fueled confrontation that occurred at Holy's Greenville Avenue-area home.

According to previous trial testimony, the confrontation occurred hours after another Dallas officer introduced Loughridge and Anderson to Holy at a bar near Holy's house. After the bar closed, the singer invited the two officers and a friend of his, Walter McRae, to his home, where they drank and played foosball.

Anderson testified that McRae, had become increasingly drunk and agitated and had finally passed out on a couch in the garage. He said Holy woke up McRae, who began acting belligerent. Holy told his friend that he would have go to go home because his wife wouldn't want him to spend the night, Anderson said.

Loughridge then agreed that he and Anderson would take McRae home.

Anderson said they asked McRae where he lived but he was too drunk to tell them. He said he then asked Holy where McRae lived, but Holy said he didn't know and didn't know McRae's last name.

"None of this added up. It just seemed fishy," Anderson testified.

Anderson said he asked Holy to show him some identification, but Holy said it was upstairs and he didn't want to go get it because he didn't want to wake his wife. He said Holy showed him a credit card with his name on it, but he told Holy that he still wanted to see some identification.

As he stood in a doorway, Anderson said, Holy tried to shut the door on him.

"He balled his fists up and acted like he was going to come at me," Anderson testified. "I drew my pistol from behind my back and pointed it at his midsection and told him to step back and sit on the ground."

In his testimony earlier this week, Holy denied making aggressive moves toward Anderson.

Both Anderson and Loughridge, who testified Wednesday, denied Holy's account that Loughridge brought the gun inside the house to Anderson.

Anderson testified that he started up the stairs of Holy's home when Holy's wife appeared on the second-floor balcony. He said he showed her his wallet badge.

"I was like, 'Who is this guy sitting on the floor?' She said, 'That's my husband, Steve Holy,' " Anderson said.

Anderson denied threatening to kill or harm Holy and said that after Holy's wife identified her husband, he and Holy shook hands and agreed that the confrontation had been a misunderstanding.
