I had told you a while back that Danny Gokey was rumored to be maybe, possibly, more than likely going country. The rumor has come true. In a video on EW.com he says his music will be "country, but in a newly marketed way."
Huh?
Alright, that's all I've got say on the country Gokey subject. Who knows, maybe he'll be wonderful. Or maybe not.

The look on Carrie Underwood's face says it all. "Help! Get him away from me now..."

Was interesting rereading this article and the comments after hearing Danny's single If Only, today.
Danny's done well for himself in his first country release.

Judging by Einstein's grades in high school, he should have never turned out to be a genius. But he did. You don't judge a man by other people's expectations, but what he expects from himself.

Once again,
Please God, make it stop...

I don't know. That's like putting Danny in some cowboy outfit, I think. Just doesn't work. And it takes years of influence to have a country identity. Seriously, he should stick to what he knows: CCM!

I agree. I can really see Danny bringing a lot of sincerity and that big appealing voice to make great country songs. He has a really interesting raspy quality to his singing that is quite distinctive, and he knows how to use it.
He's also someone who wants to make entertaining music with a genuine emotional connection and great story or message. Seems like a talented guy with a lot of potential to make good music and bring some new fans to the country scene. Good for him.

I think Danny and country music is a great fit. He sang several country songs on American Idol and on the tour to rave reviews. He has a big voice and a big heart and I can't wait for his album.
