Okay...okay...yes, I admit I like Shania Twain. At least she did it first, and wasn't some cheesy follower like so many others in the 90's. There, I said it. But....I LOVE George Strait, Vern Gosden, Willie and Hank! I love mostly alot of the 70's and 80's country...That is what I call country! It's been nice talking with you Scooter!

Yes,there always has been popish artists in Country, but once upon a time the ones playing real country music out numbered the pop wanna be Kenny Roger's,Eddie Rabbit's etc. It's the other way around now.And you are right, country radio are more so to blame.I should of said AFTER Shania hit big with the "horrible cheesy bubblegum pop music",it opened the door for everyone else to hit with the same crap.
I always love it when I hear someone say "I hate Country music, but I love Shania Twain"..Or Taylor Swift,or Jimmy Wayne or Rascall Flatts etc..You know why they hate Country music yet LIKE those type of artists?? Because they're NOT COUNTRY!!
The real sad thing is the demand for real traditonal country music is still there.Look what Alan Jackson,Brad Paisley and George Strait pulls in.Look at how everyone is raving about Jamey Johnson, yet you hardly hear him on the radio.Same way with Ashton Shepard...
Eh,I'm done ranting now.

I understand what you're saying...but...the "novelty song" wasn't new to country when Shania came on the scene. I seem to remember Shania trying it Nashville's way...she didn't get heard until she did the "horrible cheesy bubblegum pop music", country radio wasn't interested in anything else, are they the ones to blame? I suppose it's debatable. At any rate, there are several artists that have made it on the "novelty song" and that's what their entire careers are made of...that's what I have a problem with. Shania is capable of depth. She at least writes her own stuff and can be taken at face value...I believe her genuine. Others? not so much...but I certainly appreciate your opinion Scooter...and I believe there is some creditablity in what you say...I understand where you're coming from.

Shania and Mutt are the ones who opened the door on that horrible cheesy bubblegum pop music that is being passed off as Country that we are stuck with today,Chris.

I've really enjoyed Shania Twain as a female artist. She certainly caused a stir. A stand out during the 90's when country music was suffering anyway. Oh the 90's were hard on country...I'm not so sure it's ever recovered either, but I don't think Shania is "soley responsible" for the horrible music that came out of the 90's (and that's being shoved down our throats by country music radio still today) Sorry Scooter!

Why would she support the Swiss Red Cross instead of the American Red Cross? America is where she made her millions....Having said that,I hope she stays there. Her and her ex are the ones soley responisble for killing Country Music.
