Leaving behind the paparazzi-filled streets of California, LeAnn Rimes spent some time helping out at a music camp for those with developmental disabilities Monday, June 29, 2009, at Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music. LeAnn also took time to sign a few autographs.
Must say, it's a nice change of pace to the usual stories and pictures that have dogged LeAnn lately.
Check out more pics here.

Everyone, it's time to send out a big congrats to SHeDAISY singing sister, Kassidy, who recently got married in a private ceremony to Derek Williamson at the LDS Temple in San Diego according to Music City TV.

Most country fans know you don't mess with George Strait. Well George learned you also don't mess with football fans either.
George had something happen that I've never heard of happening before. He got booed. But never fear, it had nothing to do with his music, it had to do with him honoring the Dallas Cowboys.
In Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
You don't mess with them Packer fans is the lesson leanned here I guess.
George played to a packed house at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee last night, June 29, and while paying homage to his home state of Texas, an image of the Dallas Cowboys winning the Super Bowl popped up.
Cue catcalls and boos.
But never fear, the Cheese Heads didn't hold a grudge for very long and soon everyone was getting along just fine. In fact, OnMilwaukee.com describes it as a "full-blown love fest."
Happy to hear it. I'd hate to see Milwaukee torched by faithful Strait fans.
To read the great review of the concert, including Blake Shelton and Julianne Hough's sets, head on over here.

Commercials. They're the necessary evil most of us have to endure at least part of the time when we watch TV or just move around our every-day lives. Tivo and DVRs have made them a heck of a lot less annoying on our TVs, but they're still all around us - print ads, sides of buses, magnetic signs on the sides of cars, websites - they're everywhere. Heck, you can't hardly go to the movies without having to sit through an ad or two now for a TV show or Coke or some other product - which is completely annoying because I much prefer to watch movie previews than an advertising for Mentos.
Well for the most part concerts have been commercial free. Oh sure, there's a 1000 ways for you to part with your hard-earned cash while enjoying your favorite artist live, but those were generally left in the lobby areas where T-shirt vendors hawked their wares or the teens who ran around with glow-sticks and sodas tried to get you to spend a few dollars. Easily ignored if you chose to do so. Alright, there was the name of whoever was sponsoring the tour usually plastered all over, but those, too, were pretty much easily ignored. But now comes word of a far less easily ignored phenomenon - commercials in the middle of concerts - like actual commercials like you'd see on TV.
Annoying!
My friend Vicky has written an interesting article about product placement and country stars and how far is too far.
It all started with a discussion with a music biz insider about the unprecedented product placement and sponsorship by JCPenney of the current Rascal Flatts CD and tour. I know that sponsorships are a part of the music business, "Brought to you by . . . " doesn't bother me. We all know that George Strait wears Wrangler jeans and Kenny Chesney drinks Corona. Who cares?
But commercials during a live concert? A band putting a song praising a particular product line on their CD? Is that where we're going? Welcome to the 2009 American Living/Rascal Flatts tour.
So what are your thoughts? The more the merrier? Enough is enough? Could you care less? Somewhere in the middle? You can check out Vicky's whole blog post here and let her know what you think. It's definitely an interesting read and something to make you stop and say how much really is too much?

A day late and a dollar short, story of my life. But in this case it's two days late. Sorry anyone who was waiting for me to announce the winners of the autographed poster from the Rhapsody Rocks the CMT Awards and/or the autographed Caitlin&Will poster.
Without further ado, the winners of the poster is June and the Caitlin and Will picture is Sean.
Both winners have already been notified. If they fail to get in touch with me in - oh, let's say - 48 hours, then I'll draw a new winner to take their place.
Thanks everyone who entered.

Here's a short video of Jack Ingram behind the scenes of the Barefoot and Crazy music video shoot in Austin, Texas.
Thanks Meg for the tip.

19,000 square feet and $38 million. Those really are the only two things you need to know about the house Alan Jackson is selling in Franklin, Tennessee. Okay, I'm a little in awe of the fact that this 19,000 square foot only has 6 bedrooms. So make that three things you need to know about Jackson's home, 19,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, and an asking price of approximately $38 million.
Seriously, I so would have jump ed on this deal last year, but this year in this economy I think I'll stick with the lower seven figure homes.
Alright, all kidding aside, Alan Jackson has put his really big, really beautiful estate up for sale. The property is surrounded by equestrian estates and has the Harpeth River nearby. Amenities include stocked & aerated lake w/boat house & 3 ponds, 20 car garage, gymnasium, 2 bed log cabin overlooking river, barn w/2 bed apt above, pole barn, an airplane landing pad, & more.
The move isn't that surprising since Alan had told Nashville Scene not too long ago that he and his wife, Denise, were considering dragging out the moving boxes and going for something a wee bit smaller.
"It's just like a Disney World out here," he says. "But we realized, as our girls got older, that they don't really use the property much. Once they get to be teenagers, they're mostly hanging out with their friends and on the iPod and cell phones in their rooms. If I'd had three boys instead of girls, they might be out here fishing and riding four-wheelers or something."
So Alan's stuck to his word and the result is one heck of a big real estate listing. Check out all the info on Real Estalker. You can also check out closeup pictures of the house here.
So do you suppose Alan and Denise will be having the king of all moving sales?
