Well here's an interesting twist to the Julianne Hough being in Footloose story

As I told you back in April, Julianne is reportedly in talks to star in not one but two movies, one of those being a remake of "Footloose."  I figured she was up for the part of the main woman character (Kevin Bacon's love interest in the original movie). 

Well yesterday Entertainment Weekly announced (what those of us around here already knew) that Julianne was a "hot commodity" in Hollywood now that her dancing days were done.  But today comes the interesting twist from E! that Julianne's brother, Derek, is also in the running to star in "Footloose." 

He tells E! News, "I haven't auditioned, but I've met with the people."

Now I can't imagine the siblings being hired to play love interests in the movie (ewww), so do you suppose they're actually up for more bit parts or will this turn into a friendly sibling rivalry to see who could actually land a coveted lead roll in the movie?  

This may turn out to be fun!

Julianne is very close to her family n I think if her brother got the part of Ren, she'd b happy for him. She loves singing more than acting, at least for now. They've always support each other, no jealousy or rivalry. Derek, her brother, has played Ren in Footloose while in Europe, so he knows the part already. Their both multi talented. They can both sing, dance, do choreography and act. Besides singing, Derek can also play different instruments n is in a band already. Right now, I don't think i've heard of anyone else that r so multi-talented like these two.

It's been reported that Julianne is a frontrunner for the female lead in Footloose. I don't think her brother has a chance now that Chace Crawford is supposedly in talks for the male lead role. Interestingly, Julianne and Chace Crawford both have the same film agent.

Oh, and Julianne's dancing days aren't done. She's still under contract with the DWTS show for a while yet. She's just taking next season off. Doesn't leave much time for music does it?

Oh and the whole idea of her and her brother starring opposite of each other is just a little weird to me...That would be fine if they weren't going to be playing love interests but they would be...which is weird...

I don't get it...she says she wants to focus on her music career but she keeps doing stuff like this. People are not going to accept her as a country singer if she doesn't get out there and sing. I can only imagine how many tour dates might get canceled if she does get the role in the movie.

They were opening for Keith Urban on May 7 and 8th in Uncasville Mohegan Sun for his Escape Together Tour and not theirs!
