Darius Rucker surprised a lot of people when he recorded a country album. He surprised a lot more people when it was actually a really good country album. When Darius started looking for someone to help him make his first steps into country, record execs sent him Nashville Producer, Frank Rogers.
Frank and Darius recently chatted with the Winston-Salem Journal about the country crossover and how their first meeting went.
Rogers says, "The first time I sat down with him, I threw out an idea for a song. Darius said, ‘Man, that sounds like Rascal Flatts.' He wanted to keep it more on the traditional side. He's not just a pop guy coming to Nashville."
Well despite their different sounds, Darius Rucker will soon be hitting the road with Rascal Flatts for their American Living Unstoppable Tour 2009. Funny how that happens.

Although I thought this comment was odd at first considering Darius is hitting the road with the Flatts soon, I doubt he meant anything by it.
BUT at the same, Darius is exactly country, either! He crossed over as lead singer from a pop band for godness sakes.
Darius may think he sounds more "country" than them, but he is still being played on same radio stations and he is still in the same genre.
Even if he thinks they sound pop they have still been more successful in this genre then he has.
I think Darius it talented, but he needs to watch what he says about people who put him on his first major tour!

I don't blame him for not wanting to sound like Rascal Flatts!! Everytime I hear them sing, my ears hurt! I just don't get why some people think they are so great! How in the world can they listen to a whole album of Gary's voice!! YIKES!
