Charley Pride had a tumor removed from his vocal cords some 10 years ago and during a routine doctor visit recently he decided to swing by the local state building and lead the Arkansas Senate in a nice friendly sing-a-long.
Charley also thanked the Little Rock hospital that removed the tumor.
Pride sang five of his hits including "Crystal Chandeliers" and "Is Anybody Going to San Antone" for the lawmakers who he said were a great audience.
Gov. Mike Beebe, who joined lawmakers in the sing-a-long with Pride, gave the country music star an "Arkansas Traveler" certificate, which is given to out-of-state dignitaries and celebrities who visit the state.
This story makes me think that that's really what we need more of in government. Sing-a-longs. There's no way to bicker amongst yourself and mismanage money if you're busy singing happy songs.
