LeAnn helps out for psoriasis awareness

LeAnn has the skin condition psoriasis and now she's taking her message of acceptance, management, and living with the disease public. 

At one point before medication, diet, and stress management helped her become symptom free, LeAnn was covered over 80% of her body with the telltale scaly red patches.  LeAnn was diagnosed at age 2 and by age 6 was covered with the patches that would crack and bleed.

"Not only does that take a physical toll on your body, but it takes an emotional toll," Rimes tells PEOPLE. "I was very self-conscious."
