The hats and hat nots

Country music has become so diverse over the last few years that I don't think you would be able to label it as this or that or pinpoint one common thread among the today's singers.  We now have country singers from other countries, men, women, groups, kids, black, white.  You have the singers who dress conservatively and you have the singers who like to show a little skin (remember when Shania's belly shirts were news?).  You have honky tonk singers and pop country singers, you have the people who have paid their dues for years and years in all the dives and rodeos around the country and you have the singers who made a name for themselves on talent shows.  You have MySpace and YouTube phenoms and you have the singers who have been around for 30 or more years.  We have the old timers like Willie and Hank Jr. and we have the crossovers like Kid Rock, Cheryl Crowe, and of course Jessica Simpson. 

Out of all the music genre, I think country music by far surpasses any others for welcoming any and all, as long as you're able to win us over that is.  Country fans are loyal, but sometimes not the easiest to convince you're supposed to be here.  Once they have decided you're worthy, though, you've usually got a very, very loyal following. 

So, for country music fans there really isn't one thing that could describe country music singers in this day and age, not one single thing that you could pin point and say all country singers have (well except maybe passion, but we wont count that).  Even tho country fans know this, If you were to go out and talk to noncountry fans I think you would get a different answer.  Those who don't have a clue would probably mention cowboy hats and boots.  Yep, the cowboy hat, sign of country men and women, sunblock for cowboys, fashion accessory for wannabes.  We know that many of today's singers don't sport a hat, but many do.  So which looks better, with or without? Let's check it out...

the only one who really looks terrible without a hat is kenny chesney. with the hat he's hot and without he looks a little creepy. george strait looks amazing either way, forever, the king of country

So where is George Strait? He's the only guy who wears a hat but still has a full head of hair, unlike most of these guys who are all balding.

Alan Jackson may have less hair than he use to have but who cares. He still looks good! Besides, with a talent like his, hair doesn't matter!
